Amazing! What a beautiful course. Our caddy Adam was awesome! I would definitely golf here again.

We stayed at the resort for one night while attending a conference and had a chance to try the restaurant for breakfast. The food was beautifully presented and of very high quality--healthy and flavorful. While the service was a little slow, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Although we didn't get to use many of the amenities due to our short visit, the front desk team went out of their way to help us locate our room and the nearest parking spot, which was much appreciated. We also visited the on-site store and were impressed by the selection and stylish brands, particularly the golf apparel. Some areas of the resort are still under construction, so there was occasional noise from construction vehicles. That said, we were absolutely blown away by the design and quality of our suite--truly impressive and thoughtfully detailed. The highlight was the spectacular view of the red rocks, which made the stay even more memorable.

Southern Utah's newest course easily ranks as the best in the state in my eyes after playing one round. The course is in incredible shape, set in a stunning backdrop against the red rock and lava fields, and offers a variety of lengths, shapes, and shot types for players. The course is challenging (some blind tee shots, tough greens--fast and firm, and lots of unplayable lies because of lava rock), but not so unbearable that you want to quit playing golf. On top of the golf itself, the experience is very country club-esque: food and beverage is included with your purchase of the round, so you can eat before you go out to play, get Gatorade/soda/snacks from the drink cart while on the front nine, grab tacos/drinks/Dole Whips at the halfway house on the back (twice), then grab a drink after the round. Each group is also assigned a forecaddie, who helps you know the best place to hit off the tee, watches the landing area for you on blind tee shots, and rakes sand traps. They only get paid $15/bag (for the four-five hour round), so make sure to tip them ($40-$50/bag is the standard). The only negative note is that the course doesn't have marshals and allows five-somes, so pace of play could be a real issue in the future when the popularity of the course picks up. Would definitely come back to play again!

Wow! I had no idea what to expect with this course. I was tagging along on what turned out to be a Guys Scouting trip for their annual golf extravaganza in October. Anyways... I did not expect to see a course that reminded me of Mauna Lani South and North Course but set in the desert with the beautiful red mountains as a backdrop. Bring extra balls... like more than you normally would. Even if you do find your ball or it got a lucky bounce from the lava rock... it will likely be chewed up. Listen to your caddy... they are there to help you. They are going to tell you to hit it where you think it's not a good place, but trust them... it is. The course likes to play visual mind games with you.... The forward tees (which I play)... make this course very approachable and fun for folks like me who are not big hitters. Now... you do need to be fairly accurate and have a good strategy in place. You can't just go whacking it all over the place. IMO... It's not a forgiving course. You hit OB... and you are not finding it. The rough is the lava rocks. What I really like... other than the picturesque setting and the caddies... is that the Greens are not surrounded by bunkers... I mean... there are bunkers. But they are not right in front of the green so I could do a bump and run or chip up to the green without a bunker getting in my head. I think I was only in 1 bunker all day and it was real sand... soft and fluffy... so that was nice. Not like other courses... where the "sand"... is really hard packed dirt or clay or gravel.... When we finished... check the cooler box on #18. There are refreshing, scented towels. It's a lovely touch that was much appreciated after a very hot round in June. The service is Fantastic! Everyone we encountered was very professional and 'on it'. It's not cheap... but they don't nickel and dime you. The food and non-alcoholic drinks are included in the price. The driving range was probably the nicest golf course driving range I've ever been to. It even had range data info for each mat. The resort itself is still being built out and we were told it would be done and ready by October 2024 for the PGA tournament. At this point, there are no amenities on the course. Only port o potties and coolers with waters. The cart attendant does their best to get to all the groups but they are busy. We happened to see them twice. So stock up on what you think you'll need/want when they swing by as it might be a while before they come around again. The pro shop was very nice and when I was leaving for the evening they remembered that I didn't get my personalized bag tag. I didn't even know that we'd get one. So, I was super surprised and pleased that they reminded me and made sure I got it before I left. Will I be back? I'd like to. I just don't know if I'll be able to afford it once the resort is fully open. Right now ... a 3pm tee time was $300 per person which is more than I normally spend (for me). I'm sure it will go up once they are fully open so I doubt I'll be back. But I can hope.

An 18-hole golf course with a bonus 19th hole being constructed currently. Black Desert Resort is currently open for public play, but once it is completed, they will require you to be a resort guest in order to book a tee time. Reservations are booked far in advance! When you check-in, your carts will be loaded and followed by an escort to the driving and putting ranges to warm up. It is recommended to arrive 30 minutes early. The course conditions are immaculate with obstacles of sand dunes, water and black lava. When (and you will) lose your ball in the black lava, you won't dare retrieve it, consider it a gift to the resort / rattlesnakes. It is challenging but the views at each hole will either make up or be a bonus for your plays. Our caddie was extremely helpful, giving guidance at each hole, retrieving balls if retrievable and patient. The staff give nothing below 5-star service!

This place has extensive facilities for residents and guests alike, with a resort like feel. Two years ago we had booked The Inn at Entrada, which is simply marvelous (more about this in my separate review on the Inn's page "The Inn at Entrada"). Unfortunately the entire golf course was going through a complete re-design and apparently was complete April 2022. We noticed there was a golf promotion going for September, and figured it would be a perfect opportunity to come back and relax, and for my husband to finally try out the golf course. Turns out the pro shop had a promotion running while they were doing repairs on the golf course and no one could book during that time. I'm kind of perplexed on why the pro shop would run a promotion when they weren't allowing anyone to book. We ended up having to completely switch around our vacation and book over a month later to be able to book any golf tee times. Even still, tee times were sparse - turns out they only have 4 tee times per day for non-residents and it's only mid day. Tee times are only for residents and guests of the Inn. Golf is closed on Mondays and you can't play the first day of your reservations at the Inn. I was hoping the worst was behind us.. unfortunately it was not. Good thing I called closer to our visit date, because they had changed the tee times around on us. I had to make 3 calls and one send e-mail to the pro shop to finally get a confirmation of times as they had never sent me the e-mail confirmation in the first place. On the first day of golf, the tee time was moved back 10 minutes, no big deal. They started my husband out with his own golf cart (I might add their tee times include a cart that you pay for as part of the price), only to tell him to hop in with another gentleman at the start of the game (and move all his gear over). My husband and the other gentleman were paired with complete golf novices, who were not prepared to keep pace with the game. The group ended up lagging so far behind because of the couple they were paired with (the novices), that the ranger came out to give them all grief. Unfortunately the ranger did nothing to assess why the issue was occurring, but rather it just made for a hostile environment. Pace of play is really fast, this is not a course a novice should attempt. Unfortunately even if you are a good player, you may most definitely be paired with someone who is not due to the lack of tee time availability. On the second day of golf my husband asked to play alone or at least with a separate cart to avoid the same situation that he had experienced the day before. Apparently Snow Canyon doesn't allow such things in spite of having what seemed like endless carts on standby. Seems kind of absurd to pay for a cart and have to share with a complete stranger. The other problem lies with how the course sets up tee times for non-residents, they put you mid day. There are no exceptions to this either, and the staff spent their time rushing everyone around so they aren't in the way of the residents. While I understand the residents are top priority, there's nothing worse than feeling like a second class citizen when they charge the same as every other course in the area. Also, having the staff spend more time ensuring guests are enjoying their stay would be helpful also, but that is clearly not the priority here. The course itself was in playable condition, but still appears to be under construction in spite of claiming construction was complete in April 2022. There are many holes with incomplete areas, landscaping that is still under construction, and really rough spots throughout the course. The best part of the course believe it or not is the practice area, which is extensive. The actual 18 hole game play left a lot to be desired and not only felt rushed, but the whole experience felt poorly organized. I now understand why everyone we speak to says Black Desert Resort has a better course. I truly cannot recommend Snow Canyon with all its faults at this time. I can only hope the golf course continues to work on improving the experience for guests, while continuing to balance their needs for the residents.

Most of the neighbors are fantastic people. The surrounding neighborhoods are great and Black Desert is spectacular. BUT There is no voting that takes place the board of trustees vote and the owners must go along with what is voted on. There was an insane amount of money spent to redo the clubhouse, we didn't vote on that they did. There is a tiny gym you must pay monthly for whether you use it or not. The dues just went up, this was voted on by the board of trustees. We were told it included pickleball it does not you must pay extra. The gym should be an opt in. You must eat at the club house you have a certain amount of money you MUST spend or you pay anyways. The food is so bad you pay them not to eat there. You also must pay for their Christmas party. The board of trustees voted on this, it used to be an opt in but not anymore. One can only hope that Black Desert can take over and dismantle the Entrada board.
