We loved this place, and the decor is exceptional. The cabins had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker plus very good mattresses. They also have a fireplace which would have been marvelous had we been in the colder months, but it was 104-106 degrees the day we were there. We also stayed in a room which had no refrigerator or microwave but otherwise they were quite nice. We had an unfortunate situation while there (lost our car fob) and some of the front desk staff were very accommodating but one male front desk person (who might be a supervisor) lacked empathy, concern and assistance. We asked questions like can AAA get into the park to help us and he basically said it is not my problem, deal with it. While another female desk clerk was very gracious and helpful. My advice, bring an extra car key/fob, make sure you bring your own medical supplies, hiking supplies, waters and don't expect the National Park lodge staff to be helpful in any way and you'll be fine. (Note, the park rangers were very helpful when we had an opportunity to speak with them). We felt fortunate we had one front desk woman help us. There is very slow (non-existent really) internet and no cell service. Texts are the best option but they are sketchy, at best. There is one restaurant (you must pre-order) and one barely functional cafe for breakfast which offer breakfast sandwiches and hash browns (not much else). It was enough to sustain us for the two days we were stuck there waiting for our back-up keys to arrive. It would have been nice if the staff had advised us that Springdale was very close to the South entrance (we came in the East entrance through the tunnels and down the switchbacks) so we had no idea how far it was to get to civilization. We thought we were going to be homeless the second night and the male front desk clerk (supervisor?) was zero help, but once we left we realized it was barely a couple miles before we were outside the park and in civilization where we could have found lodging, had anyone bothered to let us know. I was in the hotel industry for 20 years and my colleagues and I strived to make each guest experience exceptional; however, the young folks working the front desk were little help in our situation. It wasn't until we spoke with a lovely woman working the front desk the next day that we seemed to find someone who cared enough to offer assistance. Yet, no one ever bothered to help us with solutions so we felt very stuck without internet or phone service. We were able to use their landline, which was most helpful, but without internet we didn't have numbers. Some of the staff helped us and Cherie (?), the manager on duty, was nice enough to give us the number of the St. George Toyota dealer to call. Yet, when we were faced with homelessness due to them being booked, we were offered no other option. It would have been very easy for them to let us know there is a shuttle service from Springdale and even to St. George and hotels where we could stay, but we had no idea. We just knew we were in the middle of no where with no room the next night until we figured out a solution. Not to leave you hanging, we had a friend Fedex us the spare car fob and we lucked out when the lodge had a cancellation and we were able to get a room for the 2nd night until Fedex delivered the package. It is a beautiful lodge and great to stay inside the park, as long as nothing goes wrong! read more

The Zion Lodge is everything you picture a lodge to look like in the middle of a National Park. The cozy decor definitely sets the mood and you instantly want to get a cup of hot cocoa and sit near the fireplace. Ah! So relaxing! After a long hike, it is nice to get back to some civilization and go to a clean bathroom with hot water coming out of the faucet. There is a restaurant inside that didn't look too busy and a gift shop for all your souvenirs. Everyone was nice and I wish that we had made it there earlier in the day so that we could of actually seen what the outside of the lodge looked like. It was already night time when we arrived to the lodge and it was pitch black outside (aka there are no street lights obviously). If it wasn't for another car's back up lights, I'm pretty sure we would not be able to find the car as fast as we did. I hope to stay here one day when I plan out my next hikes! read more

This is for the restaurant only. Our server garnered the stars for this review but everything else was sub par for a restaurant in a place that charges $300 for a room. We were turned off as we walked to our seat and glanced at what others were eating. The meat was covered with what looked like a thick chocolate ganache frosting and so we knew not to order that!! Caprese salad was three slices of tomato, three slices of mozzarella with three whole leaves of basil. The drizzle of balsamic saved this overpriced appetizer. We figured you couldn't really mess up a chicken quesadilla however despite having some tasty marinated chicken and a lot of it, there was no cheese to speak of. It was just a stuffed tortilla. Odd. Unacceptable for the restaurant inside a park lodge that boasts a suggestion to book a year in advance. Room was fine. Best part was that it was in the park so you could park there and take the shuttle, which was excellent. read more

BUGS IN THE ROOM. DO NOT STAY HERE! YOU'LL FIND FEWER BUGS TENT CAMPING THAN IN THIS DISGUSTING HOTEL. FULL OF BUGS!!! I would give this place zero stars if I could. My husband and I stayed in the hotel for one night. In the middle of the night we woke up to black bugs all over the floor of the bathroom, by the tub, on the floor towel, and by the toilet. The next morning there was a bug in the sink. My husband trapped the bug in the sink and we called the front office to notify them of the issue. We wanted someone to come and see the issue. When we called and asked for a manager, Jenny at the front desk said a manager wasn't on site until 2 and asked why we needed to be put in contact with the manager. We explained we had issues with bugs and needed someone to come and see what we were seeing. She sent Kimberly, the housekeeping supervisor. When she arrived at the room she was accompanied by four other people. As she entered the room, she immediately walked to check the beds and we had to tell her that it wasn't the bed that it was the bathroom. She then came over looked at it (the pictures I included) and her and the other four people in our room began to talk to one another how they have been seeing bugs in MANY ROOMS. Mind you, this was after we, in detail, described the bugs we saw. Therefore they are aware of the problem and confirmed what we saw. After driving over seven hours to get back home, we called Marissa, the front desk manager. I proceeded to tell her everything about what happened and how absolutely disgusting and unacceptable the situation was. She asked, "what can I do for you to make this right?" I said that all I want is a refund due to how absolutely disgusting the room was. Mind you it wasn't just BUGS but there were also NAIL CLIPPINGS on the floor that weren't ours. When I asked for a refund she said, "yes we can do that but you need to contact Expedia since they have your money". So then when I called Expedia this morning, after speaking to Marissa last night, I was told that Expedia could process a refund but that they had to receive approval from Marissa. So since I had already received Marissa's word regarding a refund, I didn't think much of it. However, about a half hour after Expedia told me they would contact Marissa, I received an email that said she refused to issue a refund. I then called Marissa to touch base as to what happened between our conversation last night and now. When I spoke to her last night, she was so nice and concerned. When I spoke to her today she was so DISRESPECTFUL and RUDE. She explained that since it's in a national park that bugs/insects aren't out of the ordinary. For 150$ a night there should definitely not be bugs in my room. If they honestly believe that this is ok and acceptable, because it's in a national park, then there should be a disclaimer on their website when booking that says BEWARE!BUGS AND INSECTS WILL BE FOUND IN YOUR ROOM. So as we kept talking Marisa said, "well it's just one bug that I can see so we will not be issuing a refund". Customer service was horrible. How can you say that it's ok that a guest finds bugs in their room. Whether it's one, two, or five, it is never acceptable for bugs to be in a hotel room. As I explained that she was going back on her word, she merely said, "I can give you my email to send me the pictures you have. But if not then this conversation is over". I repeatedly tried to get her to explain why I wasn't receiving a refund and why she was going back on her word and she repeatedly tried to avoid my questioning and kept repeating in an extremely rude tone that the conversation was over. I then called her out for feigning concern the night before and asked why did she put on that show if she knew that she was going to deny the request for a refund. Therefore it appears like she lied and simply tried to say whatever to get me off the phone. MARISSA was unreasonable and did nothing to resolve the situation. Her word clearly means nothing to her. Made my reservation a year in advance to secure lodging. Zion Lodge is typical of national parks lodging. Basic motel rooms or cabins. I choose the motel room option. Basic motel room. Refrigerator available upon request. But since the room is not designed for a fridge, it kinda gets plopped on the middle of your floor. The benefit of staying at the lodge is that you don't have to stay in Springdale! You can avoid a lot of the crowds and masses - you only have to deal with the ones who get off the shuttle bus at the lodge, but then they typically are just using the restaurants. They don't wander over to the lodging. There are 9 pm ranger programs in the lodge. It's only lodge guests attending since the last shuttle bus leaves before the program ends. Believe it or not but the rooms facing the parking lot are best. Nice views of the canyon walls across the road and parking lot. The backside rooms are too close to the canyon walls to afford a beautiful view. read more

If you want to stay in Zion National Park, you might as well stay in the actual park. When you arrive, you can drive all the way to the lodge (when other visitors have to take the shuttle to get this far), and when you wake up you're already within the peaceful confines of the park. We stayed for two nights in a hotel room on the second floor of the Watchman building (not to be confused with the Watchman campground) during spring break. We booked almost a year in advance, and our rate wasn't much more than what we would've paid to stay outside the park. The grounds are in the heart of the canyon, so from our patio we looked up the canyon walls, and we could see mule deer grazing just below us. Our room felt spacious, the two queen beds were comfortable, the TV worked well. We never heard noise from our neighbors, but on our first night we did hear kids running down the halls. Fortunately, they were gone the second night. Right outside the Watchman building were a number of quadplex cabins and the main lodge building (housing check-in, the restaurant and cafe, and gift shop) was a very short walk away. The lodge is right across the street from the Virgin River and from the horse/mule corrals for Canyon Trail Rides. You do still need to take the shuttle bus to get around, but you're already deep into the canyon so staying at the park saves you a ton of time. read more

My sister and I stayed in a 2 bed cabin near the lodge. Check-in was relatively easy and front desk staff was polite. It is nice to be so accessible to hikes in the park. However, this ends the positives. The cabin is filthy, not just dirty. You can see the build up of dirt, dust, bugs (alive and dead), spiderwebs, hair, etc. The walls between cabins are PAPER THIN. Like, you can hear a conversation clear as day from the next cabin over, even when they are using a normal, inside voice. You can hear them use the microwave, the bathroom, snapping the lipstick cap, etc. We were so lucky to have a group of guys who played loud music until midnight and laughed soooooooooo loud, which meant no sleep. Our bathroom tub and sink leaked - and I'm not talking a small drip. Significant water fall. We ran out of toilet paper because you are supplied with the remaining half roll from previous guests and no back-up. The service at the lodge cafe is awful. We had to ask for EVERYTHING while 4 people stood around, laughing and joking, loud and obnoxious. This includes asking for silverware and napkins and you for sure are not getting any refills. The food wasn't awful, but not great. The breakfast buffet is decent and was included. If we return to the park, we will stay in the town of Springdale, which was cute, adjacent to the park, and had several different options for coffee and food. read more

One of the major stops on the Zion shuttle- the only place to camp within the park without resorting to a campsite, includes a gift shop and cafe, has the trails for the upper and lower emerald pools. Lawn in front of lodge itself is pleasant for a rest or a quick nap under a giant, shady tree. Lower emerald pools hike is easy and paved, with pool access at the beginning to cool off before or after. At several points during the trail, there are small waterfalls or weeping rocks. Very doable route for kids. read more

We decided to stay here for three nights for a short getaway. We stayed in the one of the room with double queen beds in the sentinel building. The location is really nice as it allows easy access to the trails nearby. However due to COVID-19 restrictions services are limited. Breakfast is carry out only but you can eat lunch and dinner in the grill but the food will still be served in to go containers. I would recommend eating breakfast in Springdale as the breakfast at the lodge is basically chow hall eggs, bacon and potatoes with a muffin thrown in. The room was ok, it had everything you needed fridge and microwave included. Just don't count on getting any WiFi in your room as it only worked for me when I was close to guest reception. The mattresses weren't the best but at least we had somewhere to sleep. All in all I don't regret staying here, it is a once in a lifetime experience but next time I will be staying in Springdale in a nicer location. read more

My room was covered in dust that was falling off the ceiling fan and beams above the bed onto me and my guests faces. The floor was coated with dirt to the point a white towel turned dark brown from wiping up some spilt water. Nothing had been adequately cleaned or disinfected for more than a few weeks which was apparent in the pictures I took and showed to the operations manager. During a pandemic, I truly thought for $240 plus tax a night the Zion lodge would have had better disinfectant and cleaning protocols in place. It was clear that your cleaning staff haven't been trained and are not supervised at all. Its disgusting that for such a high traffic place with tons and tons of tourist you don't take COVID-19 cleaning protocols seriously. The health board needs to be sent in to take action. It was completely unacceptable. I should have been given most of my money if not all of it back given everything was filthy and cost more than a hotel room at the Wynn in Las Vegas, which is clean and hygienic. I was only offered a 30% refund which is unacceptable. I even offered these photos to the operations manager as a way to show her cleaning staff what they have not been cleaning. She didn't want them which also shows me that my complaint was disregarded and also makes me believe nothing is going to be done about the lack of cleaning protocols. If you have any kind of health issues , compromised immune system or are concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic, DO NOT STAY HERE. They clearly don't follow CDC guidelines and don't care about the safety of their guests. read more

Having no microwave or mini fridge made it very difficult. Since the restaurant is only to-go (during Covid), how were supposed to deal with left overs without these basic amenities. There is zero cell service (which is fine and to be expected in a Nation Park with canyons on both sides). But in this case, the hotel's internet should be A LOT faster. The internet was soooo slow. Since the TV only had basic cable and no movie channels, we wanted to stream Netflix or Amazon for our kids at night, but couldn't because of low speed. I couldn't even watch a 5-minute Youtube video. Next time we'll stay in Springdale. Those hotels are only 10-minutes away and probably all have better TV/Internet and a pool. read more

The lodge is humble and actually doesn't house any rooms. The rooms are in an adjacent lodge building with cabins farther down. If you need Wi-Fi for any reason, it is horrible. It was the same 2 times before so thinking it is always like this. The restaurant is nice but no reservations and you order in a line and then sit at a table. The hiking trails and nice and wildlife is preserved: wild turkeys, deer, and bighorn sheep. The views are spectacular! read more

What I said before still stands, Zion is amazingly beautiful. The hotel still leaves something to be desired especially when compared to the lodgings we had in Bryce just the night before. There are still no microwaves or refrigerators in the room which is more complicated now that that I have an 18-month-old who needs a bottle of milk three times per day. This time we stayed in one of the "cabins" which are actually quadruplexes hoping it would be more comfortable than the rooms. That didn't really turn out as well as we'd expected. We wound up with a view of two other cabins out of our windows instead of a view of the canyon or canyon wall. Also, the walls were thinner than I'd expect with a couple of college students that were playing music into the night. Oh well. Next time I'll make sure to get a room with a view. read more

Taking a vacation in a national park ya such a challenge . Here we are in the open field of nature and you need to wear mask. Hiking and wearing a mask. Breathing your own CO2 sure isn't good fir you, you're suppose to exhale it. Anyway our lodging is surrounded by this majestic rocks and just in awww. The skies at night is brightly lit by the stars. My husband and I decided to get up very early and decided to look for meteors. We stare at the sky and just look at the constellations and there it is the Leo, Orion's Belt, the Big Dipper and so on and wala a meteor that left a trail. That just made our early morning rise worthwhile. This place have so many points to see, but recommend getting your food somewhere else. It's costly and not worth paying for the price. Coming back would be a pleasure. I stayed two nights in one of the "motel" rooms in March 2012. It was nicer than any motel I've seen. Very comfortable room, free ( though slow ) wifi, breakfast included, amazing views. As an added bonus the food at the lodge was really good. One of our dinners was salmon with mushroom risotto which was amazing. Other meals were in the 'really good' range. The bison stew was hearty and flavorful. The butternut squash soup was a standout in the otherwise straightforward soup & salad bar. The breakfast buffet had a nice variety of eggs, meat, carbs, yogurt, granola, and fruit. Plenty to choose from to match the efforts planned in the upcoming day of hiking or sightseeing. Staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Love, love, staying at the Lodge cabins! This is actually the second time we've stayed in the cabins, but the first time with our little one (5yrs), and she loved it too! The cottages are quaint, and older, and don't have a t.v., but we like how they're away from the main lodge and just the rustic-ness of them. We stayed in November, so it was pretty cold at night, but the gas fireplace kept our room really warm (tip: run it during the day, then turn off for the night cause if you leave it on overnight, your room will get really warm!). The last time we had stayed in these cabins was a while ago, at least 15yrs ago or so, and since they have updated the rooms a bit to include an updated vanity/refrigerator/coffee area. Loved the cabins, and would definitely recommend staying here if you're going to Zion. Totally worth the price. read more

We stayed at the Cabin room. When we entered the room we saw that the floor was unclean and there were finger/toe nails all over the floor. It was really gross. We had to call the front desk twice to get the floor cleaned up. Next morning, it was Christmas Day, we did not have a good experience at breakfast. The buffet was actually good but our server was in a bad mood. When we requested for warm milk for our daughter, she said that she had 2 more tables. When we asked for hot chocolate instead of apple juice, her fuse went off and she slammed her tray full of dishes and glasses when she went out of our view. We stayed at Zion Lodge because of it's convenient location inside the park in-spite of it being expensive. We realized that Springdale is very close to the National Park..it is only about 10 minute drive. Next time we will choose to stay in Springdale instead of Zion Lodge. read more

The Zion lodge is a really beautiful old historic hotel in the middle of Zion Canyon. It's also really expensive to stay here $250 per night for two of us in a historic cabin. That said, there are a couple of things that make it worth it. The first is just the history. The lodge is beautiful, an oasis in the middle of Zion with a really lovely grass lawn to relax in during the middle of the day heat. The second is the parking situation. If you stay in the lodge you can avoid the whole visitor center parking/shuttle disaster and drive up into the Valley. This is a HUGE advantage, especially in peak season. The third is that there are ranger sessions and other activities that leave from the lodge at night. You simply can't take part of these if you are dependent on the shuttle. Finally, it lets you get up before the shuttle and do some of the big hikes before the crowds. You can, for instance, get onto Angel's Landing before the shuttle runs or trail run it my moonlight after the shuttles close down. The history and the increased park access are really what makes the lodge worthwhile for at least a night. read more

We had a two night stay as part of our organized tour. My first impression as we entered our room - musky and sweat. Not like a locker room which is worse. Our room in the Watchman has an outdoor porch so you can sit and enjoy the natural surroundings. Zion Lodge reminds me a little of Yosemite Valley but more colorful. Everywhere you look are massive sandstone formations. You can pick up the shuttle from the lodge also. There are two very walkable trails nearby the Lodge. Ranger talks are given in the Lodge at night. Another plus. Bring a flashlight if you're going to walk around at night. A few mule deer come out in the evening to graze in front of the Lodge. Zion Lodge provides rocking chairs in front of the Lodge. After dinner have a seat and enjoy the spectacular views. read more

We stayed in the cabins out front. Lovely. We had a problem initially with the gas fireplace (which work by remote) but it was quickly remedied by switching rooms. All was well. Quiet. Comfortable. Dark. NO TV! All US National Parks Lodges are a bit expensive. But we find this one to be worth the price. And we really enjoyed the servers in the restaurant. They were pleasant and great for suggesting on food and what to see. read more

Also their only open cafe opens at 7:30 am, but their shuttle leaves at 8:00 am, hence there is not enough time to order food for your hikes. Do yourself a favor and stay in Springdale. The cabin was adorable, the views are awesome. The staff was great....but the mattress felt like it was from an old Boy Scout camp! I've stayed at plenty of dirt cheap hotels and this was by far the worst mattress I've ever experienced. We spent 3 nights of nearly no sleep, my boyfriend contemplated trying to sleep in the car the bed hurt his back so bad (he doesn't normally have any back pain). It's sad they missed the mark so badly with such an essential piece of a stay. read more

MICE INFESTATION. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My family and I stayed here last week and were so excited as it was our first vacation in over two years. We checked in on May 16, and around 2 AM on May 17, I was awaken by mice inside our lodge! There were 5 mice running back and forth between our cabin and the one adjacent to ours. Even worse, they were bringing in dead mice into our cabin and leaving them under one of the beds. We immediately alerted the front desk and checked out by around 3 AM. The front desk claimed this never happened before, but if you scroll down to other reviews left by others, you'll see a common theme of mice and bed bugs inside the cabins. The lodge refused to move us to another room, and we stayed in the lobby until it was light outside and we left, cutting our two night stay down to about half a night. read more

Very close to the hiking entrance and the restaurant staff are very nice and clean. The rooms are pretty outdated but felt like you are in a cabin and you can see the deer walking in front of your room and they are not afraid of people at all. read more

It was cozy and comfortable room. Very clean. The best thing was that the service was great. We wanted to go to South rim trail, but needed shuttle to get to the trailhead. The front desk person referred to us the shuttle company and let me use their phone to book. Thanks to that, we had an amazing 10+ mile hike in the remote area. read more

Location, location, location. If you enjoy the hikes in Zion and want to beat some of the crowds, this is the place to stay. The rooms are good and seem to have some updates, the staff is friendly, and the property is a great space. Only down side is the food, so plan on eating in Springdale. read more

Traveling off-season and mid-week is really the way to get good deals. The Lodge offers a winter rate that gets you a room or cabin with breakfast. We took advantage of this and booked a queen cabin for a very reasonable rate for in-park lodging. The cabin was very roomy for 2 people - intentionally rustic, but cozy. Warm shower (use the heating fan in the bathroom - it took us a day to realize the switch was there!!!) with a separate area with another sink and coffee maker. The gas fire place was a nice touch. No TV (thank goodness - dude, it's in the middle of a national park, why would you need one???). Free wifi worked fine for us. Great way to wake up in the morning. Good, solid, hot breakfast with the winter special served at the Red Rock Grill with gorgeous views of the park. A few trails were just steps away. Downsides to the cabins: 1. They're duplexes connected by a door so when the heater isn't on, you can hear a lot from the other side. 2. The heater is loud and shifts on and off overnight. 3. Expensive IF traveling during the high season. 4. Because it's winter, the water refill stations were off throughout the park - the water fountains worked well, but just a note. We've previously stayed in Springdale - if the lodge didn't offer the winter special price, we definitely would have stayed outside of town for less. Since the shuttle wasn't running, we were able travel easily inside the park. It was so nice mid-week as there were NO crowds on any of the trails and it was peaceful and quiet. We didn't eat at the Red Rock Grill for dinner or lunch - easy drive to Springdale for some good eats. We would stay here again at the off-season rates. read more

The Zion Lodge was a lovely place to stay. I think we had an updated room because we had nice, attractive, looked-like-new bedding. The patio (since we were on the ground floor - balcony if you were on the second floor) was nice, but we looked out onto the parking lot. :( (Though we could see turkeys and deer on the grounds of the Lodge!) No TV (not complaining) but wi-fi is available in the rooms (which I found ironic). Also, I didn't get cell phone service at the lodge (again, not complaining), but did at the Visitor Center (in case you need it). Agree that the food available at the lodge isn't the best (not the worst either), but it is convenient. If you feel like going out to Springdale, there are a lot more options for food. Next time I'm back at Zion, the Zion Lodge will be my first choice of places to stay. read more

I am so glad my wife and I decided to stay in the park rather than venture out to one of the surrounding hotels/motels. Zion Lodge staff were extremely friendly. Yes the prices are probably double what you would pay if you stayed outside of the park. Get the cabin rather than the motel if you stay here. The cabin adds a rustic/natural feeling. Also, the cabins seem smaller than the photos that are portrayed on Yelp and on the Zion Lodge website. I imagine it is because they used a wide angle camera to take the photos. The cabins are modernized and seem renovated. Also the cabins do NOT have TVs in them. We chose the cabin mainly because of this reason. We figured we would be tempted to watch TV at night rather than enjoying mother nature. Instead of watching TV, we walked around in the dark to star gaze. During the night while you sleep, you can hear the deer/wildlife walking around your cabin. During the daytime, you can always see some deer relaxing around the cabin area, so it is no surprise that they come closer during the night hours. One benefit to staying here that I did not know was included was a free breakfast buffet at their main lodge (check-in) area. when we checked in, I was given 2 freek breakfast buffet passes and we tried them out the next morning. the buffet was pretty good. sausage, omlets, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, milk, drinks, muffins, cookies, yogurt, etc. Also I heard someone ask if they could use their 'buffet' vouches on the regular menu items.. since theorteically the buffet costs about $9/person and cost more than the other items. The waitress said 'sure!'.. so you can use your voucher for regular menu items besides the buffet. this place seems to be busy in the morning. a lot of outsiders who don't stay at the lodge come and pay for the breakfast selection here before they go walk around the park. read more

We recently stayed at the Zion Lodge for 4 nights and overall we enjoyed our time there. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location was ideal (it is situated between the Zion Visitor's Center and The Grotto - you need a special permit to drive your car this deep into the canyon). No other hotel / motel / lodge is located within the park itself like the Zion Lodge. However, the Zion Lodge is very expensive in terms of room rates and food. The Red Rock Grill is the on-site restaurant and the menu is kind of pricey for the barely-diner-quality food you get. I had an omelet one morning and it was seriously one of the worst I've had in my life. The service at the Red Rock is its only highlight - people were always kind and helpful. In general, we had a decent stay at the Zion Lodge but when we return to this beautiful place we will most likely be staying at a hotel or B&B in Springdale (primarily due to $$$). I'd rather save some money and stay in Springdale and just get up an extra 30 minutes early to catch a shuttle into Zion Park. read more

My boyfriend booked us for two nights at the lodge last April. The cabins were not open for the season yet, so we were in the main hotel building. I really liked this place. The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed the rocking chairs on the patio. It's not fancy necessarily, but definitely above average with decor and comforts, with a rustic theme fitting of the park. Probably the biggest reason to stay here is the proximity, it's in Zion, which means just a short walk to the shuttles that take you to the trails. Just a short walk to the main lodge where they have a fabulous restaurant and great sitting areas. The view outside from our patio was stellar, right in the heart of zion. We had a herd of deer grazing right next to our car. i am a city girl and this felt magical. read more

Meh, this lodge is overpriced for its convenience. The rooms were alright, but only have basic creature comforts like running water and power. Pretty much no frills, not even a TV! Not that I have a TV at home, but still! Pink bedding was kinda weird, and of course, a gaudy flower print on the comforter. I felt like I was staying in someone's dollhouse or something. The shower never got hot after a few mins, so I cranked it up all the way and took a luke warm shower. It *is* very convenient to stay here if you want to take pics at sunrise or get an early start on some hikes. Otherwise, you will get better value in Springdale and even better value in St. George. Oh, their wireless only works in the main lodge building and it's pretty slow. They had two internet terminals, but both were out of order. Red Rock Grill is in the main lodge and is pretty much the only place to eat inside the park. The lodge is located just south of the Grotto trailhead, which is where the trail to Angel's Landing starts. A must if you are in Zion. read more

We stayed here for three nights in mid-March 2011, and were generally very pleased. First and foremost, it's difficult if not impossible to beat the location. Right in the middle of one of the country's greatest national parks. We last stayed here many, many years ago, and enjoyed the in-room fireplace and the relative privacy. The room was a bit dated then. This time, however, the rooms have been updated, and the Lodge has a very serious commitment to sustainability. It's a pretty impressive commitment, as I have discussed at my blog, www.utahgreenlaw.wordpress.com. This place probably would have landed a 5, other than the fact that our maid appears to have forgotten to visit on our last night. (Or wasn't informed that we extended our stay...) I'd definitely recommend this place, at least in the off season (October -- March) read more

After camping in the wilderness for a week my husband promised a pamper night and we ended up at the Zion Lodge. It was heaven! We upgraded to the suite and it was so comfortable. The decor was nice and our room was very clean! The staff was super friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here! Also take a hike up the gorge at the end of the road, not hard at all and so beautiful! read more

An extremely convenient lodge located in one of my favorite national parks. I found it to be very clean and cozy. Although it's a bit expensive for my taste, it's REALLY convenient if you're visiting Zion for the first time in your life. You'll be given a red parking pass that will allow you to park in the parking lot very close to the shuttle stations. You can take a shuttle back into Hurricane and just as easily take another shuttle back to your lodge. The beds are comfortable AF, the ease of access is amazing, and you feel VERY comfy here. I'd recommend anyone who's visiting Zion for the first time consider Zion Lodge. Sure it's a bit expensive, but you'll feel a bit more comfortable as a first timer. Trust me, I'm a doctor. If you're going to stay here, and I highly recommend you do, go for one of the cabins. They don't have a TV like the motel rooms do but they still have wifi and as an added benefit, you get a gas fireplace that doubles as your heat source. That means you get to sleep with the fire going and you can control the temperature too. Awesome! The cabins are a little bit more but not much and well worth it. As for meals, dinner was eh but the breakfast was great (a typical two egg breakfast, ordered off the menu). The breakfast buffet is good but pretty pricey and typical buffet quality. The service was great morning and night and the hostess runs a tight ship. There are two sizable advantages to staying at the lodge. 1) You're already in the park so you don't have to wait in line (in your car) to get in. 2) You can hit the trails early, before they start to get crowded (this was huge for us and we were there during the off season!) read more

When I hear 'lodge' I think cozy. There is nothing cozy about the Zion Lodge. The rooms are stark, not rustic. There were two straight-back desk type chairs in our room and that's it. There are no night table lights, but a wall scone high above the bed. You literally have to get on your knees to reach it. The published pix of our room boarders on false advertising. The lobby has no 'cozy' hang-out areas, just a scattering of uninviting couches, no soft music, there is no fireplace, no outdoor fire ring, no lounge to enjoy (just a group of chairs in the corner of the restaurant), and the restaurant looks like a diner, with a breakfast buffet that makes Denny's look positively gourmet. So that's an all caps MEH. There has been nothing done here to make guest feel special, it is just a place to sleep and eat. Stay here for Zion Park convenience and don't expect much more than that. read more
