We were so frustrated! We figured out that our county's website has a record of all of the permitted work done in the county in the last 3.5 months, and you can sort by project. It also lists the sq footage of the project and the cost. We could see that Kefficient had done the most permitted projects in our county and they had a fair and competitive price compared to other companies who got their work permitted. We ended up deciding to work with Kefficient. What a world of difference! They quickly got a permit and did the work and had it inspected and it looks great. What a relief after such a poor experience with a different company!

The urgency of the work that needed to be done was honored, and end result was even better than my first one!! This was a far more difficult project, and unfortunately, I couldn't be on site during the project. The daily updates with photos and exactly what was worked on (the before and afters) I got was beyond expectations, 1000% to the crew. The light near the dehumidifier is game-changing and they even gave me a moisture monitoring device. When I learned how cool it was, I asked if I can have one for my 1st house, and they offered it to come brin git by(free). Bonus when the technician came to install, he noticed some dropping insulation and just fixed it. This is why I love this company and will always call them for my needs and highly recommend them to anyone.

TLDR: Gave us run around for months, never got a permit to do the work, lied to us repeatedly…read more AVOID if you care about permits, inspections, or honesty We started the process in Sept 2025 of trying to get our crawlspace encapsulated. We were between Vance and Kefficient. Our sales rep, Evan M. promised to do a great job and offered us a great price, a few thousand dollars cheaper than the competitor. Wonderful. They offered to do the work without a permit, but we wanted a permit. On 10/2 Evan said he talked to head inspector of our county and then on 10/9 said the permit was submitted and waiting for approval. We were told it could take a few weeks. Ok. My husband checked in occasionally. From Oct 20-Nov 24, 2025 we got NO RESPONSE. I had him finally call the office and they said "oh! We just submitted your permit paperwork." What? They had Evan call us back. Evan blamed the county for "changing the rules" and said they had been taking a long time and made Vance re-submit the permit. I was waiting for Evan to apologize for not responding to my husband for a month, but he did not until I asked him about it. He said his phone wasn't working. We tried to give him the benefit of the doubt even though I didn't really believe him. With the holidays and everything we figured things would slow down. But by January 2026 we were getting really frustrated. On 1/16/26 we called Evan and he said he'd been "calling and calling the county" and they didn't have any updates on the permit. We tried to look up the permit request ourselves on the county website, and couldn't find anything. So we called. The county said they had nothing for our address. Absolutely no requests. I asked if there was some mistake, if there's anyone else they could have submitted a permit with, and the lady on the phone told me point-blank this company was BSing us. I didn't know if this was an Evan problem or a Vance Insulation problem, so I called the office and they had me talk to the owner, Rob Vance. Without asking my name, he said "oh yes, I just talked to Evan yesterday and there was some mistake where your permit didn't get submitted, but we just submitted it!" I said, "weird, because I just talked to Evan and he said he's been calling and calling the county and getting no updates, he didn't mention that. Also, I just got off the phone with the county and they said they have zero record of a permit request anywhere." Rob apologized and said he'd definitely talk to Evan and PERSONALLY get to the bottom of this. He said he'd have Evan email us that night or in the morning and CC him and provide written proof that everything was submitted. Rob said he'd call us back also. Well, we never got that email and Rob never called us back. Evan called us a couple times but we were absolutely done talking to him. We have not heard from anyone since. We actually found that our county website has a public record of every single permit request submitted and Vance Insulation hadn't submitted a single permit request in our county for ANYTHING in the last 3.5 months (as of 1/16/26) Since Rob Vance did not actually follow up or contact us again, I'm assuming this is a company-wide issue. So we had to start the process all over again. We contacted the companies that we could see from the county website actually HAD submitted and received permits for their work. All of them said they had no trouble getting permits and could get them in 2-3 weeks or sooner. We ended up working with Kefficient, who quickly got the permit and got the work done and inspected. Kefficient was more expensive than Vance, but upon looking at the permits submitted for encapsulation, which also lists the sq footage and the cost of the project for all the houses in our county, it was actually a fair and competitive price. And for a project this expensive and important to get right, I'd rather work with a company who is willing to get a permit and have their work inspected. I'd never trust Vance Insulation to do any work on my house after this experience.

Communication from both the office staff and field team was excellent--everyone was clearly aligned and always aware of the job's status. There were no surprises along the way with regard to other work needed. No hard-sell tactics like competitors. If you receive a lower estimate from another business, double check to ensure ALL work is included. We did receive a lower estimate only to find all NECESSARY work was not included in the lower estimate. What began as a very negative situation was transformed into a positive experience with a successful outcome, thanks to their expertise and coordination. The level of care, organization, and follow-through truly set them apart. Our job was completed promptly and passed inspection with flying colors. I would definitely recommend The Drying Company without hesitation. Special thanks to Nick Slemp, Stephanie Hall, and Crystal Powell for their dedication and for never dropping the ball throughout the entire process. Shannon & Jim Blackburn

Once they completed the job the existing dehumidifier would not come on. They sent another technician and we were told we needed a new dehumidifier the old one is no longer good. They came out 5/14 with the new dehumidifier and fast forward to 7/16 we have water in our crawl space again only to be told today 7/17/2025 we need a sump pump. WOW!!!! My thing is you would have thought that all this could have been avoided had someone reviewed and looked at everything prior. I left a message for Joe Hogge at 9:30am and it's after 1pm and I have yet to get a call back. I do not recommend this company... STAY AWAY!!!!!!!
