I had a fantastic experience with The Drying Company. Ben (the Foreman), RJ, and Jon were absolute professionals. They cleaned out my crawl space, removed all mold, and installed a 20mm vapor barrier with a 20-year warranty. They worked efficiently and made sure everything was done right. I went into the crawl space with them multiple times, and they clearly explained what they had done at each stage. They also gave me great advice on preventative maintenance I can do myself to keep things in top shape. Yes, it was an investment--but 100% worth it. The quality of their work has increased the equity in my home and will save me money in the future. I've gone with cheap contractors before and ended up paying more in the long run due to poor work. BEWARE!!! My husband reached out to The Drying Co. because we had water in our crawl space. Once the sales rep came he recommended we get an additional dehumidifier and get the space encapsulated- which we did. They came out to do the job which took 2 days 3/31 and 4/1/2025. Once they completed the job the existing dehumidifier would not come on. They sent another technician and we were told we needed a new dehumidifier the old one is no longer good. They came out 5/14 with the new dehumidifier and fast forward to 7/16 we have water in our crawl space again only to be told today 7/17/2025 we need a sump pump. WOW!!!! My thing is you would have thought that all this could have been avoided had someone reviewed and looked at everything prior. I left a message for Joe Hogge at 9:30am and it's after 1pm and I have yet to get a call back. I do not recommend this company... STAY AWAY!!!!!!! read more

The Drying Company is an outstanding business. From start to finish, they handled a complex, multi-layered job with exceptional professionalism. Communication from both the office staff and field team was excellent--everyone was clearly aligned and always aware of the job's status. There were no surprises along the way with regard to other work needed. No hard-sell tactics like competitors. If you receive a lower estimate from another business, double check to ensure ALL work is included. We did receive a lower estimate only to find all NECESSARY work was not included in the lower estimate. What began as a very negative situation was transformed into a positive experience with a successful outcome, thanks to their expertise and coordination. The level of care, organization, and follow-through truly set them apart. Our job was completed promptly and passed inspection with flying colors. Had them out to do a quote for a crawspace encapsulation and they were 4x more expensive than some of the other quotes I received.

The Drying Company installed a sump pump and related equipment in our crawl space. The installation appears to be good. The electrician who came out to hook the sump pump up to our automatic generator likewise did a good job, as did the person who came out to blow additional insulation into the ceiling of our garage, which underpins our bonus. Our problem area concerns a rather minor job which should be easy to finish. They were supposed to put extensions on 6 downspouts in order to take the water further from the foundation. However, although the job was listed on 2 separate work orders, it has not been done. We have contacted the office on several occasions and are always promised to be called back. It is now approximately 3 weeks with no action at all. Our personal contact, Simon, who has been wonderful, has also been involved, but to no avail. There is still $7,000 that we owe for the work done, and, although we have advised that we will not pay any more until the work is completed, the people in the front office don't seem to care. We are beyond frustrated at the attitude. Is this any way to run a business? read more

Steve himself (their owner) reached out, drove all the way from Toano to visit my house and scheduled more work -at HIS expense- to finish the job of insulating my crawl space. I can't say enough about the great service I received from this company. A large portion of the attic area of my home purchased last year had never been insulated in part because the area was difficult to access. The initial inspection was far more professional than the other 2 companies I had contacted for a quote. I have a family background in the construction business and I could tell that Matt's inspection was thorough and his proposal for work was far more detailed than the other companies in the running. Bryan T. arrived and carefully covered my light carpet (thank you) while accessing the attic space. His work was excellent and his customer service was outstanding. Had Tony from The Drying Co. come out and look at my crawlspace. We had recently been told we have a high relative humidity and needed to address. Tony came out and inspected and spent time explaining our needs. He didn't try to oversell me or tell me I needed something nobody else recommended. The installer (Chad) came out on time to install and was incredibly nice and courteous. He took time to make sure my needs were being met and ensured I was educated on the system. Chad took the time to seal our vents thoroughly and even seal some extra cracks free of charge. Hard to tell if the system is really working now (mid december) but am hopeful this will resolve our issue. This is a copy of my email sent to them 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard back from them I wanted to share my feedback from my experience with The Drying Company. 1/ KNOWING YOUR PRODUCT The salesman assured me that they would be able to spray foam on existing insulation (Ceiling + Wall) because they have the best foam. When I asked him a second time, after another company told me that it would not work, he reassured me that it will work. So I signed with them. And when your technicians came on site, it did not work. BUMMER 2/ RECHARGING A LIFT = BEING EFFICIENT I provided a scissor lift for the technicians. And after working the whole day, they did not plug the lift in to recharge overnight. So when they arrived around 8 o'clock on Friday they could not work. 3/ CLEANING = DOING A NEAT JOB After the work was completed: The trash can was left full inside the warehouse. (See picture attached). The plastic protection was rolled up and dropped outside the warehouse alongside the dumpster (See picture attached). I have drops of spray foam on the drywall which was painted the week before they started the work & a BIG CHUNK above the restroom. (See picture attached). I am sorry but this is not acceptable. For a $35,000 job, I expected more professionalism. Even from the first day, when we had to unload your products from the truck, things were not as expected. On Oct. 3rd, 2016 we contracted with the Drying Company to encapsulate our crawl space with a 20 mil. liner and a 25-year warranty. We had numinous problems with the work performed. The first was they broke an ice maker water line. Then left the foundation vents open and the foam came through on the outside of the house. Instead of removing vent fan they just sprayed over it with foam. The encapsulation was supposed to keep rodents out. On their yearly inspection they discovered the humidifier they had installed the drain line had been chewed up by mice and had let water drain into the crawl space. The water resulted in mold and mildew. They requested $500.00 to repair damages. After speaking with them they finally agreed to cover the cost. The crew arrived at our home with no notice. When I inquired why the hygrometer, they installed did not show there was water under the house it was explained to me the senor they had installed in the wrong location. This year the annual inspection results were no penetration found, some water present but should dissipate, it was attributed to inoperable sump pump for the heat pump. He relocated the sensor for the hygrometer. Our findings there nothing wrong with the sump pump. Checked by our HVAC company. The problem was with a leaking ice maker line the same one they broke on the original installation. There were 2 areas of standing water and mold. The 2 areas are appropriate 8'x3' These 2 areas are completely covered with thick mold. Also found where mice chewed through. The inspector mislead us to believe that there were no problems. We have contacted the company with no response from them. We are extremely worried about our health due to the mold and mildew. read more

They did a great job encapsulating my crawl space. In the process, they cut the wire for my landscape wiring. I had to have that repaired and they still haven't reimbursed me for that expense. If you use them, I do recommend calling out any wiring you may need redone in advance to avoid unplanned expenses. read more

Our service technician Alex arrived at our home as scheduled. He removed old dehumidifier and installed the new one in a timely manner. We received our manual and registration card as promised. By the time we got home, it was already 60% under our home and still decreasing. We are confident that this new unit will help us continue to save on our electric bill as the previous unit had over the past 5 years. It is such a pleasure to have our home installation done quickly after the discovery of the spent old unit. Great job. The crew was very professional and they cleaned up as they went. They answered all my questions and didn't seem to mind me watching. The did miss one elbow on the gutter downspout, but came out in a timely manner to install it before the remnants of a hurricane came thru. And the gutters worked great thru out the storm. I spoke with a manager who came to the home and re examined our needs for our basement. I got a complete system and backup, wall covering for 3k off their quoted price. They made it right and were apologetic about the first guy who came out. Overall im very satisfied with the job. No matter how hard it rains, the system pumps water away from my house. read more

I have been using The Drying Co. since January 2012 for crawl space drainage issues, sump pumps ( The Drying Co. has installed two over the years), spray foam insulation, mold remediation, and annual sump pump preventative maintenance. I have been pleased with the Drying Co. until last week. On Thursday Sept. 10, 2020, I noticed my sump pump (only 1 year old) was not pumping. We had just gotten 6 inches of rain and I live in an area at sea level (but I get ground water in my crawl during droughts so a working pump is a necessity). I called to schedule service and explained the situation. I was told the first available appointment was October 12! I had no choice but to accept the appointment and asked to be put on a list to call if there were cancellations. I was told there are only 2 service techs. Two techs In a company this size and who advertises on TV? Seriously? In the meantime, between the rain and ground water, my crawlspace is filling up. The next day I receive a letter in the mail confirming my annual sump pump routine maintenance appointment Oct 12 and explaining what to expect. The letter states this is routine maintenance but if I need service outside of routine maintenance to call them. I did that on Sept. 10! I called the company back and told them I had the annual routine maintenance done in May 2020 and that I needed service. The agent asked me what was going on with my pump. I had already explained that on the Sept 10 call but Oct 12 was still the first available appointment. I cancelled the appointment. I have been loyal to this company for 9 years and until now, they have been good to me. I have paid over $7500 to the Drying Co., referred them to others, and I cannot even get a service appointment for 6 weeks. This is unacceptable. It looks like it's probably time to sever ties. read more

They came out and gave an estimate for fixing the issues with the foundation. The quote wad around 7000.00. I was discouraged from having them pull a building permit and they charged an additional 600. When the invoice came I was charged 695. I paid a 30 % deposit and it took over a month to complete the work. It took longer to get the building permit approved because the first pictures they sent were what the house looked like before any work. It took a bit after that and I was not contacted that it passed inspection. It was passed using pictures. My original invoice had 5200 dollars left to pay and when I received the bill it was 6800. I talked with the project manager, Simon, and he came up with the same number, 5200. I did not have a problem with that and he said he would talk to the office. The next day I received the same invoice which was incorrect and not what I agreed to for 6800. The e mail said that she had talked to him and I needed to pay promptly. I texted him and he said because of the 695 fee for the inspection I needed to pay 6800. This was fabricated from thin air and there is no documentation that I agreed to this. I do not think it is ethical to now change the price and expect me to pay something that I did not agree to. There has been so much run around and not one person has agreed to use the contract that was signed. The workers used my electricity and were not professional. They did not do all of the work that was promised. They said they would jack the house to get it more even, but when I ask they say it has not been long enough, but it has been 3 months now and no-one had done anything to even check without my insistence. Again, The project manager came out showed me pictures and then came up with 5200 I owed and yet I got an invoice for 6800 after being told he would talk to the office to take care of it. I would not recommend using this company for any of your needs. They cannot be trusted to do what they say or stay at the price you sign on the contract. I am so disappointed this has not been corrected as we have been going back and fort with the invoice amount for a few months. read more
