Great little cafe run by owner and wife. Very Friendly said that wanted to save the building so decided to open Resturaunt. Today is actually their 1 year anniversary so I decided to add them to Yelp for others to find. Place is simple and cozy. Coffee served in pottery cups hand made by owner. I had eggs Benedict and added sausage which has spicy and very tasty. Eggs are local on property so very fresh. Dad had the Eggs, potatoes and Sausage. Equally delicious. We will be back

Cest manufique! Mary makes a no nonsense GOOD chicken fried…read moresteak! A little too much flour, but ok. The service was OUTSTANDING! They only have one waitress, 2 girls that really do most of the work, and an owner who checks in and makes sure everyone is well taken care of. All and all, it was pretty great, with a no joke Chicken Fried steak! We saw this on the Daytripper on YouTube, and decided toDallas. A few things before you come: 1. It's 1 1/2 from the lake higlands area of dallas. 2. 2 60YO people can pay $2 and can share a small CFS. 3. IT WILL BE $24.00 for for your dinner.

No. NO. NO!!! Best chicken fried steak in Texas? Hell no. I ordered the medium and it's big for…read moresure but it's pancake thin and 60% tasteless. Why 60%? Because apparently only maybe 40-50% of the steak was seasoned. Nothing special. It tastes like McCormick seasoned salt or simple salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. Most of the steak wasn't seasoned and the flour was not crispy. It's like something I can muck up at home by myself. It's soggy and oily with only the very last part and edge of it being crispy (barely) and really thin and dry. If you've ever messed up trying to fry some chicken/fish at home and the batter a mushy like stuffing that's how this batter is. Is it the worst? Ummmmm... I had frozen CFS from Walmart that was worse but that was at least a bit crunchy. I know you'll still eat the CFS cuz of the BS "best CFS in Texas" YouTube and opinion pieces. Just order the small. You thank me later.

DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!

I have avoided coming here for years because every time I had in the past, it was a disappointment…read more I'll give it to them for consistency? I ordered the half portion breakfast quesadilla. My husband got the deluxe breakfast. The hashbrowns were greasy, obviously not reconstituted, and overcooked. He chose a pancake instead of the biscuit and gravy. His pancake took forever to receive. It was thin and tasteless. I've had better from a Bisquick box! My tortilla was greasy. Barely recognizable as a tortilla. Had I not been genuinely hungry, I would have sent it back. I managed to eat two triangles. I tried to cover up some of the greasiness with their salsa. I've had better salsa from Old El Paso. It was watery and flavorless. That seemed to be the overall theme for this meal. Flavorless and thin on cooking prowess. Had the waitress not been friendly, I would have given only one star. $25 for barely edible anything!?! Never never again.
