I've purchased 5 cars in the past from Zimmerman. I would highly suggest NOT shopping there. The Owner is a liar and a cheat. The only reason I've purchased there in the past is because of the honest Sales People. The owner ruined my possible purchase experience by lying to me and playing dumb to the situation. That's where I have to draw the line. If you lie to me, I'm done with your business. If you must purchase from there, at least ask for Doug. He's an honest guy and knowledgeable. No one knows more about Honda's than Doug Pearsall. Additional information: I offered to put a deposit down. To avoid the issue that happened. The vehicle was being held by Doug and the owner didn't care and sold it to a buddy of his. Later, the manager called to apologize and stated that they don't take deposits. Which I don't believe. That would be dumb in the car business, not to take a deposit. So your response is conflicting about what happened. read more

I purchased a Honda Pilot from Zimmerman and recently experienced a dead battery. When this happens, a code needs to be entered into the radio in order for that part of console to function. I called Zimmerman and asked for the vehicle code. I was told that I would need to bring the vehicle in. I explained that I lived three hours away and couldn't do that. I was told rather they wouldn't give out the code over the phone because it's their "policy." A business' policy should be to serve customers. I then called a local Honda dealer and they promptly gave me the code. Guess where it where it will now be my "policy" not to shop for my next new car? Every interaction I've had with Zimmerman in the last couple years has been extremely negative. They have forgotten how to treat customers well. read more

i went there for service bc my warning lights went on during a drive in a rainstorm. i told the service mgr. and although I purchased a warranty he said it wasnt covered.It was a $180 fee to have my vehicle checked .He told me it would cost $350 to have it fixed .Not satisfied I went to the GM and he said that dirt and mud can block the sensors.So I went to the car wash and like magic everything worked! So I returned back letting them know what I did thinking they may reimburse me .Nope wrong again.Here's the deal .The sevice Mgr.wanted me to pay $530 for a car wash! Took my 2018 Civic with 98,000 miles to Zimmerman Honda on January 26th because I had a faulty motor mount on the right side of my engine. The reason I waited until I was at 98,000 miles was because I wanted the problem to be evident enough for their technicians to notice it. They told me it was a bent exhaust hanger causing the vibration and told me that it wouldn't be covered by my 100,000 mile protection plan. I told them I knew it was the motor mount because the Honda dealership in Ottawa, Illinois was quickly and accurately able to diagnose and repair my car under my protection plan the last time I had this vibration. They told me there was nothing they could do. Fast forward about 3 months, now my car has 104,000 miles on it (I drive alot for my job hence the need for a Civic). I called the dealership and told them the vibration never went away, Derrick with the service department told me to bring it in. Today I left work early and drove my car 50 miles to the dealership. Immediately I was told I would have to take the "master mechanic" for a drive. I took Joe 20 feet outside the maintenance bay and Immediately showed him the vibration. Joe told me "I wouldn't call that excessive.". I sat there and shifted from reverse to drive showing him that the vibration was non-existant in all shifter positions except Drive, where it was very very obvious there was a problem. He said alright I'll take it out back and look at it. After 45 minutes the service writer comes and tells me I'm "all set". Audrey then explained to me that the mechanics best GUESS is the torque mount on the rear of my engine might need replaced. I again reiterated that it was the engine mount on the right side. I then asked to speak with the mechanic again, he came and told me he didn't know what the problem was and he could only guess the torque mount might be the problem, again I had explained to them on more than one occasion what the problem was and they insisted it was not. I then asked to speak with the service manager. Gary approached me and introduced himself then sat me down in his office. He then explained to me that there was NO WAY of knowing what the problem was without what I would call, swapping parts. He told me we could put a motor mount on for 300 dollars, I asked him why the other dealership was so quick and accurate with their diagnosis and they were so inaccurate and he said, I can put another motor mount on your car but you will be even more angry when thay doesn't fix it. I told him I'm not paying for something thay they should have fixed 3 months ago when I told them what the problem was. These people are very obviously not good at diagnosing vehicles and when I came in for warranty work they merely bent an exhaust hanger back and told me everything was fine. It took me a little bit more driving to realize I had been had and another month of driving it past the warranty expiration until the vibrstion was so irritating i became desperate and when I returned to the dealership they basically told me I was too late, and that I should have told them the problem didn't go away when they sent me on my way. I made the mistake of trusting them in January and now because my car is out of warranty I will have to take my car to a mechanic who WILL listen when I tell them exactly what the problem is. I want to note also thay Audrey, Joe, and Gary all challenged me and basically did everything but what I asked them to do, please do yourselves a favor and take your hard earned dollars elsewhere. read more

I look forward to the day of no more sneaky car-sales tactics such as high-pressure sales and 6-hour long drawn out negotiations in their "little talk room". Until then, Zimmerman Honda is your safest bet in the Quad Cities. We have purchased two cars from them, and although the sales experience was tough the first time, it was much better than what is offered on the other side of the river. We now have a good understanding with our salesman, and he knows how we purchase a car. We go to the dealership to pick out the car we want, and then we leave. Any negotiating is done over the phone. We are always pre-approved for a loan by our credit union, we've done our research on the best price that a dealer should offer for a particular car, and we know what features we want, so negotiating is minimal. It is just a matter of the dealership providing a purchase agreement for the best pricing they can offer. We review the purchase agreement closely, check the math, and if all looks good, we submit the document to our credit union and they cut a check. That's how car buying should work. The simple fact that we CAN do it this way at Zimmerman (although their managers grumble a lot) means this will be our "go-to dealership" in the QC's. Our salesman is Marty Curry. I could not be more satisfied with my experience at Zimmerman Honda this evening. After discovering a nail in one of my tires and realizing that most places were closed as I noticed this just after 7pm, I didn't think I'd be able to get my tire fixed. Even though my vehicle is not a Honda and I have never bought a vehicle from this place, they treated me like royalty! I came right over and they fixed my tire within 5 minutes. This was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. As I said, although I've never bought a Honda, this experience makes me reconsider as service like that is hard to find at a dealership nowadays. I highly recommend Zimmerman Honda! We went to Zimmerman last Saturday to look at some Honda CRV's. We started out at the used lot, parked our Honda and walked around for about 10-15 minutes looking at used vehicles. No salesperson approached us. We drove over to the new lot, parked again got out and walked around for another 10 minutes. And again not one salesperson came out and approached us. So, we headed over to Lujack's where we were helped immediately and will be purchasing our new vehicle from them. Very disappointed in Zimmerman and will never buy a car from them! read more

I went to get a price on a 2014 Civic and WOW what a huge waste of my time! Great place to go if you want to sit around for 30-45 min only to be told their best price is $1,000 to $1,500 higher than the other dealer in the area. No help for price but they want to get down to where do you really want to buy your car instead of talking about price. I bought 2 Hondas in the last 2 months and both times their best price was $1,000 to $1,500 higher. read more

The vehicle we were looking at had tear in one of the rear seat belts. We were told they cannot legally sell the vehicle that way and they had an appointment to have it fixed. After a little haggling we agreed on a price, we live an hour away, but were going to drive back to pick up the car once it was fixed. While we were waiting for what we assumed was the paperwork to be prepared, our sales person Marty came out and told my wife that the price we had agreed upon was "as is" and they would not be fixing the seat belt. I simply walked out. So much for it being illegal to sell a vehicle with a damaged seat belt. read more

Lying Cheaters - Do not buy from these guys - I bought a used Toyota Highlander fro these dirtbags in April of 2012. Said they had resurfaced the front rotors - they had not. After a test drive I popped the hood and the engine was making a terrible squeal, bad tensioner pulley. They only wanted to replace the pulley. I requested a full timing belt KIT replacement, complete with water pump. Less than 10K later, the water pump is leaking and now I'm wondering if they replaced anything at all.
