I came to LOOK at a vehicle today. I really wanted this car as well, but as in every big financial decision I wanted to take some time before spending that kind of money. I would have been putting a substantial amount down, along with a trade. Credit check was going on in the back room (literally behind the salesman) when I could hear their finance manager YELL. A lot of it was inaudible but I knew it was about me. I heard enough and I was the only customer there at the time. He came out and introduced himself and I recognized his voice instantly. My wife just came back from having her Toyota serviced, oil change and tire rotation. Apparently their service dept has a new electronic system whereby the customer doesn't really talk to a service advisor. Instead they get emails and texts about additional services their vehicle requires. My wife hates it. It was very confusing for her. Also, when her car was finished, no one ever notified her it was finished. She had to go to the service desk to ask about it. We were thinking of buying a new Toyota in a few months, but if this is how they're going to run their service dept, we'll probably go elsewhere for a new vehicle. Troy "Troyota" Knapp was amazing to deal with, he was quick, easy and clear about trying to get me the car I wanted, he was knowledgeable and made the process effortless, answering questions and ensuring to address any concerns I could bring up. That said I could very much tell while he wanted a good deal for himself and the business, he seemed to care a lot more about getting me a good deal and getting me involved in the "Troyota" universe, while he didn't call it that I am coining it for him. Greg who worked on my Financing also had the same mentality of wanting to get me the best deal he could get me, obviously they are a business and have wants, needs, expectations and everything but during the process he covered everything that I would have needed to know. Offering and explaining all the packages they offer at Hiland to be able to get me both safe, and secure on the road. It was a great experience from start to finish, they would pull up the car for you, let you test drive, finish up with ensuring that was the one you wanted to go with. When talking with the finance people you can even (at least in my case) see the car you're getting, and them making sure it meets their standards to leave the facility. I very much recommend reaching out to Troyota himself if you're ever in the market for any vehicle be it new, used, whatever it may be. Bought a used 2022 Blue Pruis Hybrid 7-26-22. Drove from Oak Park to Moline 312 mile round trip to fine this hard to fine car. My Sales person Trop Knapp was welcoming helpful and accommodating. The dealership is immaculate and the entire dealership staff was very friendly. I drove the car home and arrived back (averaging 57.9 MPG) to Oak Park around 4 pm, a long day for me. Took my car in to get looked at and they immediately tell me they have no loaner cars to give out. (Our PAID extended warranty covers loaner cars including the otem that broken in the car). 5 min later they tell the next customer they're getting a loaner car. They then say my air compresser out-put is very low but since it's not completely "dead" it's not covered under the warranty to be fixed, and qouted me $400 to fix it. I will never buy from here again and will never take my car here for repairs. read more

Super upsetting to hear that my mother was in the dealership for service to get an oil change as the vehicle was purchased at this location. The deal at the time of purchase was to get complimentary service for a year. To my dismay I'm hearing after having the service completed she was told she would be billed for the service. To make it worse the lady at the service counter, who normally works in accounting, to pay was horribly rude and disrespectful to the point I would never EVER let my mother go back. I've never heard anyone not follow through and keep promises. This is super unethical and absolutely ridiculous to hear all of this. Her attitude will definitely negatively impact your business and that's a horrible concern not just to our family but also the entire community. The Service Manager complained to my mother that Toyota only reimburses $45 and the cost is $70 for cost. Now this is super unprofessional and utterly disappointing to say the least... Thankfully for Greg in Sales he was able to push the issue to follow through and keep the promises made. Honestly he deserves some MAJOR recognition! I'm super happy as it not been for him you would have HANDS down LOST at least 10 customers who are loyal buyers to Hiland Toyota. Sounds minuscule that someone has to pay for an oil change and we totally understand the Dynamic of making money, However the biggest issue is following through and keeping promises. Coming to the end of a lease on a 2017 Toyota Sienna XLE. Received an email from Allen saying his manager was needing our van for his used car inventory and to schedule a time to bring our van in to be evaluated and to take a look at new inventory. When my husband called to ask for more information Allen said we were 3 months out from the end of the lease and there was nothing they could do at this time which was fine..but a bit confusing as he had reached out to us. 3 days later we get the same email saying his manager is needing our van...which obviously he doesn't and this is just a sales gimmick. We called Allen again and he backtracked and said it was an automated email. Have leased 2 vehicles from this dealer in the past and expected better customer service. At this point planning on looking elsewhere over the next 3 months. Here is a copy of the email sent 2/7/2020 and then again on 2/13/2020: This is Allen Rutledge here at Hiland Toyota. My Pre-Owned Manager just informed me that he needs 2017 Toyota Siennas for his pre-owned inventory and your vehicle fits the description. With only 3 months left on your lease, now would be the perfect time to come in and have a professional appraisal done on your [VEHICLE AMA]. This is one of those "I like the car, but not the dealership" kind of places. It's not horrid, but there is a real issue with the pricing. For example, I had front tires that had a slow leak on the rims and was charged 100 dollars to get it fixed. I won't be going back to get basic mechanical work done. Me: No(When you look up things on the internet, a VIN is something nobody looks at!) Randy: Well we have lots of cars. It's the last one(I thought you said you had lots of red highlander XLEs). But the color is Ooh lala mica(That's red!). Randy: It's $6k on sale. Come on down and hurry up. It's the last car. If it's a highlander and $6k cheap, it's not a question. You have to get it. Me: Does the $6k have any qualifiers? Took my Toyota Sequoia in because the rear handle wouldn't open. They told me I just needed a new handle the latch was fine. Charged me $355 for a handle. two days later the thing wouldn't open again. Took it back in and magically I need a latch for another $270. That's after he dropped $50 off the price for my trouble. I took my Yaris in sometime last year when my battery died. The person who checked me in was super polite and helpful. They replaced the battery quickly and did not try to sell me anything else. More recently, my husband took the car in on a whim to ask about a scratch on the front side of our car that was starting to rust (I may have backed our other car into it). He just wanted a rough estimate thinking that if it was pricey, he would just figure out how to fix it himself. The friendly employee said he could buff the rust out and paint it right then and when my husband asked for an estimate, he said that it would be free. Um, what?!? Sold a car out from under us. Made up hefty excuses and honestly it didn't need to happen. I had called the salesperson and given very concise and clear indication I wanted to make a deal and buy the car. He checked it out and then said he'd get back to me. No follow up. No concern over my disability, and felt the beginnings of discrimination.I initially called on a Thursday and the salesperson did not return my texts on Friday. Then wouldn't answer on Saturday. Didn't return my calls until someone else test-driving in the car, to tell me that he thought they'd buy it! Oh the manager made excuse after excuse after excuse - about why a salesperson just didn't follow up on an offer to BUY a car that I truly needed for medical reasons.Expediently. HELLO? I needed a particular style of seat in a particular year in a Highlander. The car was clearly and free to be sold when I called. I texted. I called. Finally we told the General Manager that we needed him to intervene. He refused and didn't listen to the urgency and validity of my story until I was there and (he talked over me almost the entire time) and when he ran out of steam he actual started listening to my story said they were wrong. He made some sort of nebulous offer be I never trusted this. He didn't call me all week after saying he'd find one as good or better. The one he offered had obvious visual distortions in the front windshield, moon roof broken, big nicks in the paint and the SEAT which I said was critical had defect in the power lumbar that would jolt into my back. The first car was almost in mint condition. So offering me something worse for more money = well you the reader decide. it was the most devastating and horrific treatment by a sales team and dealership that I've ever received = BAR NONE. I even e-mailed the owner = no response. Our lives were harmed we lost time, money, and dignity. Be forewarned. read more

took truck in for an oil change and a few issues that concerned me. Needed approximately $5,000 worth of work. I don't remember everything, I know it needed new brakes on the front, a new shield for the gas tank and a crack in transmission fluid - plus new tires. They had the truck for almost a week. So far all seems good with the truck - only thing I was disappointed in, is after all that time and money spent there they cannot give a complimentary car wash - yeah not a big thing but where I take my car - even for an oil change that is offered to the customers - a nice complimentary service. read more

I honestly can say I had a pretty decent buying experience and was happy with my sales man and payment guy. But here it is 5 weeks later and I'm getting speeding tickets in the mail out of Cedar Rapids for 70 in a 55 for the vehicle I traded in. I'm extremely dissapointing that a dealership of this size is driving around on customer plates. Expired plates might I add (part of why I wasn't to worried about taking them off). I call the dealership to inform them of what's going on, the girl puts me on hold. Comes back and says well you'll just have to go to court. I reply by saying this I know my point in calling was you might want to know your driving around on customer plates and whoever you have driving vehicles to the auction is doing 70 in a 55. She said hold on and I'll transfer you to our manager. She comes back on a minute or two later saying, well he says you'll just have to go to court and fight it. I'm really glad your manager is far to busy to accept a legitimate phone call from an annoyed customer because of your dealerships unethical practices. Amazing customer service.
