This restaurant has a new owner. They do not serve sushi any longer. The food does not come out looking like the picture. The bread has two pictured, but only comes out with one. It is false advertising. The server was really attentive and nice. Small little restaurant. The portions are really small. The intestine and cumin lamb dish were good. We came on a Tuesday evening and it was quaint and empty but service was nice and welcoming. They answered our questions regarding to the certain dishes. Friend ordered the #10 spicy chili oil noodles with pork w/ vegetables and I ordered the #19 cumin lamb noodles. I enjoyed my dish's flavors, but I'm not fond with the noodles. It had a nice bite but not as chewy like these typical noodles would. As for my friend's dish, it's a bit bland and the cut of the noodles were a bit confusing (some are small, some are big where it's half cut). We felt bad that the noodles cuts were inconsistent and some of the noodles were thick which didn't soak in the flavors very well. I do like the value of this place so we'll give this place another chance again later on. read more

Decided to try this new place a couple of nights ago. Me and my friend try restaurants at least 3 times a week. So we are fairly picky. This place exceeded our expectations. It is really fantastic. Very family run. Very fresh and homemade food. I had there "# 1" dish, stewed chicken that had carrots potatoes peppers onions with homemade noodles. (The noodles were so good that I wanted more. They have a more noodle option. Next time I'll do that). The chicken is boned which honestly I usually don't like. But the quality of the chicken was so high that I was fine with the bones. The flavor of the dish was incredible. My friend had a chicken fried rice that was also excellent. The cucumber salad was good but pretty much the same as you get everywhere in SGV. Service was very friendly and as I said, literally a family husband wife w a little kid. All in all, a great experience. I'll be back soon. Highly recommended. read more

This is a hole in the wall restaurant in an unassuming plaza, but the food we ordered really hit the spot! We got the Xian Style Cold Noodle with Chili Oil, Beef Noodle Soup, and Spicy Dragon Roll. Finally tried this hole-in-the-wall Chinese/sushi restaurant that I've been curious about! Employees speak Mandarin but I was able to order by pointing. The Xian Style Cold Noodle with Chili Oil and Cold Noodle Sesame Sauce were delicious - perfect noodle texture and a delightful sesame sauce with a hint of vinegar. The Salmon Lover and Pink Lady sushi, despite the slightly mushy rice, won me over with the quality and presentation. Located in an unassuming plaza, this spot did not disappoint. We also ordered the sushi combo that comes with 1 special roll and an assortment of 6 nigiri (mix and match salmon, eel, or tuna). The salmon nigiri was fresh, and the rest of the sushi was good. The service was great. The waitress had good recommendations, as well as spoke mandarin, english, and cantonese. I ordered 2 salmon and 1 tuna in the combo, but the chef swapped 1 salmon for tuna by mistake. He apologized and gave me two more salmon nigiri, pretty generous and great attitude. read more

We love this quaint place with the chef coming to greet and talk with us! He's so nice! Most of all, the food was so delicious! We had the spicy fried fish, which was fried super crispy, then cooked in the sichuan soup with tofu, spam (yay!), cilantro and other veg you can choose. Their pork bun was so yummy! Service was great, seemed like there was only 2 guys working there the night we visited. Place smells crazy heavy is cumin! I would recommend the Chinese dishes, and just the nigiri. All the special rolls came with California roll base and I don't know how they mix the crab but it was not good. For me personally, it became inedible. Yes, there's sushi and Chinese food at this restaurant. Don't expect authentic sushi but it honestly hits the spot. Generous portions here and the prices are good. Service was good although we were the only table. They served us loose leaf tea in a kettle so that was a nice touch. Parking was plentiful during dinner time (6-7ish). I think most of the other businesses in the plaza are already closed and this is the only place open. This is a gem of a place. I had the Northwest Big Plate Kitchen, Beef roll and Xian style Liangpi, which was flavorful and superb. You could tell a lot of care went into the preparation. The decor is a little plain but the service is wonderfully warm and friendly. It's located in a quiet place but away from the super busy parts of Alhambra and easy to park. This is a really unique place where they offered both chinese food and sushi. I ordered the sesame cold noodles and chili oil cold noodles. If you ordered sesame cold noodles, technically you get chili oil cold noodles as well because the bowl comes with chili oil. So you can split the bowl and have half sesame cold noodles and half chili oil cold noodles. Or you can mix it and make a spicy sesame cold noodles. If you love taiwanese style sesame cold noodles, what they offer here is kinda similar but the sesame sauce is a bit more dry/thick and kinda have a roasted flavor profile in it. But it's not bad at all. Definitely answers my longing for my favorite sesame cold noodles place in taipei. read more

This is one of the best places to eat in Alhambra. My family and I were tired of the same old thing and while looking through Yelp, we found Zhenwei Kitchen. I didn't know what to expect when we first walked in because it didn't look like much, but the food was fresh, good, and the portions were generous. There was a bit of a language barrier but everyone was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back. My friend and I got the stir fried cabbage, sesame sauce cold noodles, braised beef noodle soup, & a jar of their homemade chili oil. Stir Fried Cabbage: 10/10 i have tried this dish in many restaurants in the area and this by far is one of my faves! it had some pieces of pork as well. perfect spice level and also super flavorful. Sesame sauce cold noodles: 9/10, the sauce was delicious and refreshing. I also appreciated that they packed the sesame, chilli, soy, & garlic sauce all separately for togo orders so that nothing spills or gets soggy if you plan to eat later! Braised beef noodle soup: 8/10, im not a huge fan of beef noodle soup usually but I tried my friend's and i think its packed with flavor without being too heavy or oily (which is perfect since we got it for work lunch). the noodles also were a good bouncy texture. my friend also pointed out she liked how they oiled the noodles for togo to avoid clumping :) Homemade chili oil ($5.99) 10/10 delicious and a good size for the price! I pass by this place everyday and I'm so glad I took a chance to try this place out! Everything tasted great and had good portions. I am excited to try their Japanese food next time. This is a family run business, not many staff, but friendly , and inside is clean. I like the cucumber salad, very refreshing for a hot summer day. The chicken wings have good flavor on the skin, just the inside is bit plain. The cold noodle is good. Their noodles used in the soup are cute and have good texture. Small intimate mom and pop place for parties of 1-4 people. Great spot for Chinese food and sushi. Someone complained about how the chef smokes outside and marked stars down for it. I see it as a sign that the foods going to be bomb and I also didn't witness any of the chefs doing that either during my meal. The sushi combo $25and the xian noodle $6.99 was a large amount of food and definitely worth the price. sashimi was thick and the quality was better than most generic sushi places like sushi boy but not melt in your mouth quality. The xian noodle was the just the right level of mala and sourness. I loved the thick chewy noodles. I'd definitely return if I was in the area. This restaurant serves Chinese and Japanese food. This isn't Asian fusion. Most places I've been to serve either or not both. Zhenwei does both well. The cucumber salad is crispy with solid garlic and pungent flavors. The pork burger is light, crispy and tasty. The beef noodle soup has an herbal richness of cilantro which is different to what I've tried. However, you get enough servings of beef and vegetables. The noodles are a nice knife cut with a springy texture. My wife enjoyed the spicy CA roll with soy paper (optional). Has generous portion of real crab meat, no surimi. The Spider Roll has lettuce on the inside which gives it a nice textural contrast. The server, Jackie was grateful and humble. The appearance of the venue is fresh clean and inviting. Stopped by an early Friday evening for dinner with the girlfriend. We were the only customers who stopped by during the 40 minutes we were there. We were worried by the lack of patrons so we ordered conservatively. There were two menus: one dominated by Japanese rolls and the other filled with Chinese dishes. Apparently, this restaurant specializes in Xi'an noodles. In total, we ordered two sushi rolls and a cold noodle and a soup noodle. We were pleasantly surprised by the two rolls. Very professionally presented and tasted very good. I'm not a sushi roll person but both rolls were pretty outstanding. The noodle dishes were both very good. The soup noodle had hand made noodles and the broth was light. The noodles' uneven thickness and length really stood out. My girlfriend had the cold noodle and it was clear that the noodles and accompanying sauce were made with care. The portions for the noodles dishes are slightly on the smaller side but if you order another roll to share with a partner, you will eat your fill. I recommend folks each to order a noodle dish and one or more rolls or other appetizers. That should be more than enough. Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures because we were so hungry. We gobbled everything up and we're stuffed! The overall meal cost 46 dollars including a 20% tip. Consider giving this restaurant a try if you are in the local area. Small businesses such as these are local gems. I'll be coming back whenever I desire a quick meal in cozy setting. read more

Since it has a five Star rating, we felt it's safe to try even though there are only a few reviews. Our eager-to-try-new-place spirits were rewarded again. I found this new opened Chinese-Japanese restaurant near my working place. My entire experience was perfect when I walked right in .it's clean and quiet. They welcomed me and explained all the menu also suggested me their specialty dishes. My Togo orders were quick. The thing very impressed me when I ordered I want to order some sashimi the chef wears there.He said it's not on the menu but he will do it for me and charge something else instead.would definitely come back for more and recommend this lovely place to my friends. read more
