I've been to this restaurant twice, hoping my second experience would be better than the first, because the food was tasty. That's the only reason I returned.
I'm Vegan and it can be difficult to find meals that accommodate my appetite and taste.
The first time I came here, the waitress messed up our order (gave my mom white rice, instead of ham fried rice, as was on the menu,) and didn't return to check on us until she brought the check a half hour later, so we weren't even able to tell her my mom's meal wasn't what she ordered. Plus, she left empty plates all over the table and we were barely able to manuevre our leftovers into boxes. (The place was completely empty, other than one other table.)
We decided to let it go, tipped her (way too) well, and here I am a few weeks later with the same waitress, trying a different meal, hoping for a different experience.
I specifically asked if they could do one of the vegetarian dinners at the lunch special rate of 6.99, because it was lunch time and there wasn't anything for vegans but vegetable delight on the lunch menu to choose from, but there was a whole list of vegan options on another part of the menu. The waitress said they could do that. So, I asked if they could do King paó veggies, with tofu if possible, or spicey tofu with veggies, however it would work best to order veggies with tofu.
What she brought me was a plate full of spicey tofu and rice. I asked her if the veggies were on the way and she said that's not what I ordered. I said I wanted veggies and tofu and she said she was sorry, but she thought I ordered spicey tofu. Then I asked if they could hurry and steam some veggies for my meal and she said it would cost $2.
At that point, I told her that's not what she said when I ordered it and that I don't think it's fair that I pay extra for a meal that wasn't what I ordered.
Then, who I can only assume was the wife of the chef and Owner, came over to demand the $2 for veggies, even though I was never told about the $2. I told her I don't feel like I should pay for her servers error and the Chef came over to back up the woman up and together they told me they would not fix my meal without the extra $2. My boyfriend sled for a minute to show them how I ordered my meal. He also said the $2 wasnt a problem, but that it wasn't mentioned when I ordered, not did I get what I asked for.
They still said they wouldn't fix the order, so I just told them well, this isn't what I wanted, and I want it taken off our check and you can have it back, thank you.
I'm not sure if their lack of understanding of English was the problem, but the waitress definitely had no language problem.
As we left, my boyfriend was gently and kindly trying to tell the owner that if they would've tried harder to take care of us, everything would've been better in the long run, but the chef came out to tell him to leave and shooed him off rudely. read more
