Came here with my family and unfortunately had a very frustrating experience. After we ordered, two meals never came out because they were never rung in. We understand mistakes happen, but those two people waited an additional 30 minutes for their food. The server seemed either new or overwhelmed, and overall the food itself wasn't great! When it came time to pay, we were told we could split checks at the register. After paying, we were not given a receipt. Even though service was lacking, we still tipped. As the next family member went to pay, we learned there was already an automatic gratuity applied, meaning we had unknowingly tipped twice. When we brought this to the attention of the woman at the register, she refused to adjust two of the checks and told us we should have "paid better attention." She then told the rest of our family that they were fine, but those two checks were not. The tone and delivery were extremely rude. She even lifted the menu, pointed to her eye, and said we should have paid more attention. Absolutely terrible at check out, dishonest and misleading. They rushed us through the first bill, not being transparent that a 20% gratuity was already on the bill, wouldn't let me verify my itemized bill, then told me to select my tip amount, not knowing the 20% was already added, they allowed me pay 40% gratuity. While still charging the other people in our group 20% gratuity, I helped the other person paying see that it was already added so they didn't add it again, for 7 people and 2 bills they collected 60% gratuity because they didn't want us to see the bill. They also shut off the music, started turning off lights etc, to rush us out 20 min before closing. I will be submitting a formal complaint as I see other reviews claiming the same issue with the double charged gratuity. TERRIBLE and DISHONEST. read more

Lunch w/co-worker during the week. Macarah was our server. Plenty of choices, lots of gluten-free options, lots of veggie options. I was hoping for Hong Kong Style Chop Suey, the seafood version, but they weren't able to omit the shrimp & calamari - it was explained to us that a lot of their dishes come in already prepackaged or partially cooked - and this was one of them. I settled for the veggie lo mein plus a garden salad. The salad was plentiful as was the dressing portion. The lo mein was, as 3 stars indicates, A-OK; not something I would order again - it was missing something and was just a step up from buffet quality. My co-worker cleaned his plate of moo goo gai pan and said it was good but not in his "top 10." And while they offer this dish as a lunch special, there were no gluten free substitutes for the egg roll and fried wontons. Pricing was the usual - $7.25 lo mein, $2.95 drink, $1.99 salad. Lunch portion of lo mein was perfect though why you would serve rice with lo mein perplexes me. Service was fine. Pitcher of water & two glasses delivered as soon as we sat, my soda was a large glass so it didn't run dry, food came out quickly (I guess a perk to half-prepared food), a box was brought without my asking, anticipating I wouldn't finish my meal (but I did finish & didn't take the rice to go), separate checks brought promptly. No problems. In fact, the service and pricing are the reason I will give this another try at a later date and try a different dish and some of the appetizers, which looked great. read more

The food and the server were good, but the check out process was very confusing and misleading. I ended up double tipping due to the way the check out process was set up. The same thing happened to the party I was with only they did not realize it at the time. When I questioned this, the cashier said she doesn't pay attention to what the totals are and that it was my responsibility to know what to do. She was rude and defensive and declined to give me back the money for the second tip. She may have been correct, but I left there feeling cheated and taken advantage of. We like Zhang's in North Ogden. It's close and it's good for take-out. But it's not amazing; nothing to write home about. Everything is just "ok." There is better Chinese food in Ogden, but if you just want a fix, or some quick takeout this will get it done. Dining room service is generally good. Takeout orders are ready on time and quickly. Note: their website is AWFUL. Which is partly why I gave it 3 Stars. The online menu has no descriptions (what is a "Triple Dragon?") and the Gallery has no photos. Zhang's should either update it or take it down. It's not very useful at all. But their website is a symbol of the place as a whole--it is fine, but not striving for excellence. read more

Would give zero if it was a choice. This place is hit and miss. Take out.. Spent $49 on 2 combos plus a few extras. Left a good tip. Shame on me for not checking what I "took out". Got home to discover 1/3 of order missing. Called and was told to come back and they'd give me what was missing. It's not like I live next door. So they offered me a credit for next time. Even took my name. So ate what we had anyway.. And no joke or exaggeration, about 4 a.m. woke up debating on whether to dash to the toilet to puke or try to breathe it out. Spouse same thing. Our family of 7 stopped here to have dinner this evening. We ordered 4 adult portions and 1 child. The other 2 are small children and shared with us. The food was sub par at best. We were never checked on after our food was delivered. Our table was over crowded with empty plates and our drinks were never refilled. Upon receiving our check they added an auto gratuity of 20%. My husband spoke to the Manager/Owner and explained to her that their customer service was lacking in a major way. She was confrontational and rude basically stating that a "tip" does not need to be earned when there a 6 guests at the table. Horrible, horrible, horrible. What more can I say? I can't tolerate peppers and we ordered their Mongolian Beef without peppers on take-out. Not only were there the very spicy little red peppers in the dish (only 20 or so) but I was already home and trying to relax when I opened the food to serve it up and discovered they messed up our order. I immediately called and was told yes, they remembered my order but I would have to drive 25 miles back to get a refund on that one dish. The price was ok, the portions were huge, and the service was pretty meh. Most of the food overall was barely passable. The chicken was dry and tough. The only thing good about the kung-pao was the vegetables. Their fried rice served as OK filler, but wasn't something I'd like to eat again. And, the paper chicken was awful. The only food that was good here was the hot and sour soup and the fried cheese won-tons. Honestly, it just feels like every ingredient used to make the meal is cheap. But, at least they give you a heaping mound of it, right? I hate places like this. Buy better ingredients and just serve less of it. We had 3 different dishes, and all 3 tasted the same! Orange Chicken, General Tso's, and Sesame Chicken. We tried all three and they all tasted the same! Sauce was the same, the only difference was the General Tso's was slightly spicier than the other two. Fried rice was good. We also started with the lettuce wraps, there were 4 of us there, and they only brought out 4 lettuce leaves, not enough to even use the filling. Our go-to place for Chinese takeout. The food is affordable, good tasting and relatively fast. If you're looking for authentic Chinese, this is probably not the place, as they mostly serve the typical Chinese-American fair like General Tso's Chicken (a personal favorite), Sweet and Sour Pork, Orange Chicken ect. Portions are huge! And two meals easily feeds 4 people. We usually get Gentral Tso's and Triple dragon with sides of ham-fried rice and feed our whole family. As far as service goes, the people running the counter and taking phone orders can be curt, but luckily when you're picking up takeout you only have to deal with them for a quick minute. I've only dined-in a couple of times, but when I did, the waitress was friendly and helpful. read more
