    Zeytin - Greenwich, London

I loved this restaurant. This was the first restaurant that we went to after we arrived in London. The service was very friendly and understandable. Our party contained 2 toddlers and 1 baby. So our table was very loud. The waiter was helping us with the order and making sure nothing was in reach to the kids. The food was fantastic. I enjoyed it a lot - but again, who doesn't like Turkish food! I wish I could come back!

Yummy Turkish food. However the service was incredibly slow. They also want you to order a drink with your food so don't ask for tap water!

Great food, incompetent staff My friend and I ate here a few…read morenights ago. I got a variety of the meze as my main and she got a lamb kebab. The interior is quite spacious but have no idea what a previous reviewer was talking about regarding a cool interior; the AC wasn't working when we were there and it was humid and I had to ask for a door to be opened! Anyway I got the kisir, the imam biyaldi and we shared the cacik. The first was so tasty even my meat-eating friend was impressed. The portion is quite substantial as well. The aubergine in the imam biyaldi was tender and juicy and the combination of sauces and onions, tomatoes and peppers lent it a rich flavour. Again a large portion. Ditto for the shared cacik. The pita bread that accompanied the meal though was tasteless. I took leftovers home. My friend praised her lamb as well. We also enjoyed the Turkish port after. But my God why can't it figure out service?! I asked twice for our meals to b wrapped up and then twice more for a check and each time it was more important for the waiter to clear an empty table next to us (where there were plenty of empty tables and no customers waiting), and make another?! He then got to seating a group that came in and handed out menus. At that point I was so peeved - and more than 20 minutes had passed- I got up to go to the cashier. Thank gosh service wasn't included in the bill because I would have deducted it. I might come back here just for takeaway but not to sit in again. Shame it doesn't deliver.

Saving half my meal in a takeaway box, we left the table and I looked back from a few meters to see the table cleaner swoop in in a few seconds. I didn't see that my wife had left the box, then obscured by the cleaner. The correct action by the cleaner would have been to turn around and say to me, "sir, you forgot your box". Sorry that I can never return and revisit those uncomfortable feelings!

Wonderful place for Mediterranean cuisine! It's right on the water, in a great location…read more The interior is elegant. It has warm lighting, velvet seating, and nice background music. The server was wonderful. Very friendly. Very attentive. The menu is large. It was difficult to decide what to order. In the end I ordered the calamari as an appetizer and my husband ordered the falafel. The calamari was tender and delicious. The falafel was pretty bland. I've always had it served with tahini. This was served on hummus, but the hummus was also pretty bland. I would not order that again. For our entrees I ordered the Masukka and my husband ordered the sea bass. The Masukka was delicious but I bit into a small piece of gray plastic. I told the waiter and he apologized profusely and removed the Masukka from our check and insisted on giving us a complimentary dessert. My husband loved his sea bass. It was excellent. I had a glass of Sauvignon blanc with my dinner. It was lovely. After our waiter removed the Masukka our bill was £73. I would return again. The food and service, ambiance, and views were wonderful.

Very nice dining room, bit upscale ambiance, open kitchen. Cafe on one side, bar on the other side,…read morerestaurant in the middle. But I don't think the kitchen can handle the number of tables they have. Because they dish out food that needs more tender and care. The chicken meatballs were not cooked long enough and not warm enough. Mucver was soggy, lacking any crispiness and just too much mint added and too much cheese, there was hardly any zucchini, which is the whole point of this meze. I'm not kidding when I say I can make a better mucver at home, and I'm not even Turkish. The Lamb kofte main course was the smallest main course I have seen in a Turkish restaurant. The cous cous that came with it was so pathetically small, like it was served to a baby who just started eating solid foods last week. I looked around at other people's plates and same thing there. Honestly, a bit insulting to serve this little cous cous. There was not much salad either and so little cabbage. Normally I get served a generous serving of red cabbbage. I would have been better off getting two Meze for the same price as this main course. It's ok to serve a high price if your meat is premium quality and perfectly spiced, but this was average and not even hot in temperature. Felt like food didn't travel from kitchen to table in a reasonable time. They didn't have the Kazandibi dessert, but they had the Sutlac, this was weird because Kazandibi is basically an upside down sutlac with a caramelised surface, by the sounds of it. One is with orange and one with lemon. Could taste the orange at least, but not sure if the surface is supposed to have burnt black spots. A nice dining ambience is not enough to get me to come back. I made sure to get a good view of the river, because this is what you are paying extra up charge for.

I would say it is more of a smart casual affair than I was expecting. The food prices are still competitive and what you expect from this cuisine with most grilled meats and fish coming in just north of £10. Starters sit around the £5 mark. I ordered the simple lamb shish, my girlfriend the iskinder kebab (lamb baked in a tagine with yoghurt). For starters we shared hummus and fried white bait. The white bait was excellent with a real fresh zing, the hummus lovely and rich with the free bread and olives served with your meal. The lamb was delicious in both the mains and they were very generous portions - we had to ask for a doggy bag to take home. If I was to be very picky, I would have preferred the pitta bread to be a little less 'toasty'. I like the warmed breads from Turkish restaurants which have been grilled with the fat of the meats! We didn't need a reservation for a Saturday night when we arrived before 8pm. Though it was very full all evening. I would definitely return.
