First, I want to thank the owner who kindly let me come in right before the kitchen was closing. I had just flown in from NY, got to my hotel, and there wasn't much open at all in the area... I think this was my last shot. And THANKFULLY for my tummy and taste buds they were open. The flavors here were next level. OH MY GOD the grilled meats were expertly seasoned and cooked. The juiciest and super satisfying. I loved how they took care of me, and even when about to close, didn't skimp on the quality at all. They are so damn good. I cannot wait to come back again!

Turkish bread, hummus and olives are offered upon seating.

This is an awesome location, just across from the Globe Theater and along the main walkway that follows the south side of the Thames. The hosts were quite welcoming and I was seated quickly and provided with some delicious Turkish bread, hummus and olives. The service did not disappoint, food was presented quickly and the pide was quite good, perfectly cooked and seasoned, the wait staff were very professional and efficient. The bathrooms were also both very clean and well designed/uniquely styled. Definitely recommend a visit, especially if you like Turkish cuisine.

I guess Jamie W. and I landed on yet another chain in London. So much for being penny-pinching food snobs when we travel, but we ended up at Tas Pide because there was a dearth of lunchtime dining options around the Tate Modern, and Turkish food sounded pretty good since we were eating a lot of Italian during our London stopover. The decor did remind me a bit of Istanbul by way of HGTV with lots of rustic wood beams, cane-backed chairs and things you would have bargained to pilfer at the Grand Bazaar (photo: http://bit.ly/1imHxV7). At 2PM, the place was near-empty except for a group of young Eastern European women in heavy make-up and nearly-invisible shorts. I'm not presuming what they did for a living, but they did seem to text a lot. Ahem. Anyway, things looked bright right away as the young waiter brought us a basket of warm Turkish bread, a ramekin of hummus and another ramekin of marinated olives (photo: http://bit.ly/Rvlbta). They were still offering their £ 9.45 three-course lunch menu, so we took advantage (photo: http://bit.ly/1oCNyBY). I started with the Humus Kavurma which featured diced lamb, pine kernels and paprika (photo: http://bit.ly/1imHnwP). It was a bit oily but good, just what we wanted at that time of day. I just wish they provided pita wedges so we could scoop up more of it. Since I had not eaten a Turkish pizza in such a long time, I tried the Kiymali Pide, which was apparently one of their house specials. Quite doughy, it was shaped in the traditional eyelid shape with minced lamb (are you sensing a pattern here?), fresh tomatoes, onion, parsley, red pepper and a scrambled egg stuffed inside (photo: http://bit.ly/1imHoRw). While it sounded tasty, it was rather dry for all the effort, so i used the pickled red cabbage to lubricate it as much as I could. I guess I was expecting more of a kick given the plethora of ingredients. The meal ended with their only dessert option, the Kaymakli Kayisi, sauteed apricots in a house-made cream with chopped almonds and pistachios (photo: http://bit.ly/1jUHVOO). It was a bland little concoction hardly worth calling a course, but at least it gave us something sweet before our short walk back to our hotel. What we really needed was some Turkish delight. FOOD - 3 stars...pretty good Turkish fare though some shortcomings were evident AMBIANCE - 4 stars...the decor felt right even if the chairs were a bit uncomfortable SERVICE - 3.5 stars...very quiet and attentive even with the lure of Eastern European, ummm...entrepreneurs TOTAL - 3 stars...not quite a Turkish delight but if you need a hummus fix, here it is..

Was going to a production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at the Globe. Was looking for somewhere to escape the rain and find a bite to eat before the show. Tas Pide is right across the street. They have bright outdoor seating if you are lucky to have nice weather. Inside is a little dark and cozy. Tables and chairs are lower to then usual and close together. I went for a Turkish pide with feta, leek and tomato. It was kind of like a light, healthier pizza. It was nice, I agree with if other reviews that it lacks flavour. Service was efficient. Loved the live music.

Tas restaurants are a small chain of Turkish restaurants, mostly in South London. This restaurant, beside the Globe theatre, specializes in Pide, which are described as Turkish pizza. Unlike most London Italian pizza there is not much emphasis on the cheese and tomato base. Instead, they are lighter, spiced and herbed - with a variety of toppings. The set menus are really good value here. There are a couple of mezze, a vegetarian option and another which includes a starter and pide. The service is attentive and quick. The décor is inspired by traditional Turkish restaurants, with lots of richly woven fabrics. All the food I have had here has been good. I would particularly recommend the calamari, borek as well as all the pide dishes. Additionally, it is worth leaving room for desert. There are a few that look good, but the one that I usually go for is the sundried apricots stuffed with pistachio and cream. It may sound a little underwhelming but it is delicious and works perfectly with a cup of Turkish coffee as an end to your meal.

But let me tell you...this is SO much more than just another kebab shop! I wish I could tell you what we ordered, but I can't. Mine was a stewed lamb atop hot bits of pita and slathered in their house sauce (like sour cream.) Oh good lawd IT WAS SO GOOD! Also equally delish was the hummus and pita. Service was super, food was amazing. Do yourself a favor and visit! I wish we were locals so we could eat our way through the entire menu. P.S. They do Uber Eats/new delivery if that's more convenient for you!

OMG! So much food…read more Between the 2 of us, we ordered 1 main course (iskander kebab) and 3 starters (sausages, imam bayildi - stuffed aubergine and falafel). The food was all super tasty, but we had so much leftover! Both of us had skipped lunch and were having early dinner, but we barely put a dent on the amount of food that arrived. As soon as we ordered, we were brought Turkish style bread lovingly buttered and 4 different dips (hummus, minty yoghurt, cheese and a tomato one). This itself would have been a sufficient meal for us both. The falafel came settled on a bowl of hummus. The side salad with the main arrived in a plate of its own. Service was very fast and the lady serving us was lovely as were the line of chefs we passed by on our way in and out. When you peep through he window, it looks like a tiny kebab place, but they have really comfortable seating at the back. Some of the other places we wanted to eat at in Camden on a Friday night were completely full, so we entered this place on a whim, but left completely dated and satisfied.

I was already prepared to order pide and lahmacun but the staff proved helpful in knowing how much to order. I ended up getting the non-mince lamb pide, with a side of the pepper relish sauce (ajilik? can't remember what it was called). I saw a man in the back stretch out the dough to make the pide, and slide it into the oven. Then it was brought out fresh from the oven on a wooden cutting board w/a pickled pepper on the side. The pepper relish sauce was garlicky and amazing with the pide. The pide had just the right amount of toppings and flavor. The crust was thin and crisp without being too bready or doughy. The pide looked huge but I inhaled it. Perfectly spiced, right amount of sauce without being soggy, crust was crisp to the last bite, everything about it was delicious and quite affordable. I would definitely come back the next time I'm visiting London.

It's the best! We decided upon this place after a pool tournament at the nearby hurricane rooms. Having both been knocked out in the first round, it was quite a fortunate circumstance as we wouldn't have discovered this place otherwise! Upon entering the place was well lit and clean. It wasn't in the least bit smoky unlike some Mangal's that absolutely leave you smelling of charcoal. There were only two other tables taken so I thought it might have been a wrong move... Our orders taken, straight away we're brought the complimentary turkish bread and dips that all mangals normally serve. Quite often this bread is cold and chewy, or given with a nasty dip that smells a bit off. Not here. The bread was warm and super yummy, and a good portion of it too! I absolutely stuffed myself on this because the dips, of which I don't know the names, were so good! Remembering that we still had out mains to come, I stopped. But at this point I was around 50% full! Our mains come out and boy are the portions gigantic. Lots of meat, extremely fresh looking and tasting salad and your choice of fries or rice. With a thin pitta as the base. There was oil in the doner chicken, but not as much as you normally find. It was very tasty. The chilli sauce, wasn't that hot, but the flavours were full and a welcome addition to the slightly charred moist chicken. As we were about to ask for the bill, (note: Earlier to this I had heavily complimented the staff on how good the food was) they were exceptionally gracious in offering us some complimentary turkish tea and delights. That was a nice touch and perfect end to a perfect meal. I honestly felt like a guest in somebody's home, as all the staff from the cooks to the waiting staff were super nice and friendly. This is apparently a chain (same owners), with another in Shoreditch which I've visited. But it's nothing close in either food quality or staffing at this branch. So it's fair to say they only share the name (along with many dozens across London) Give this place a visit if you're around King's Cross Station and looking for a quick bite. For just over a tenner, you're sure to leave stuffed and more importantly happy. Now isn't that what life is about.
