My boyfriend found this burger restaurant on another review site which said 'the best burger shop…read morein London' or something like that and we decided to go to Lewisham just for the burger! I have to admit that it's the best burger I've ever had in London!! I ordered Rox melted burger because I was tempted by grilled onions and melted cheese! Awww, so tasty! I was very satisfied with all of the fresh ingredients and the fantastic combination of onions, cheese, angus beef, bacon and a brioche bun! Also I enjoyed a bite of the Rox Blue Burger that my boyfriend ordered! Can you believe that you can enjoy both mozzarella cheese and blue cheese at once? Although the Rox chips were also delicious, we just couldn't stop eating the burgers. The burger was quite dense so I couldn't finish it all so I took it back home. Of course eating it at the restaurant is better, but it was still good at home! When we were at the restaurant, some delivery staff brought some fresh fruits and veggies so I felt they use good quality fresh ingredients! The restaurant was small but cosy and I liked the stylish interior! It's a family-friendly restaurant but great for anyone! Oh, I shouldn't forget to mention that the glass for the tap water was an American style jar with lime! The overall price was also fantastic, I highly recommend a visit to this quaint American burger bar!

I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place. I ordered the Chorizo burger and they cooked…read morethe party exactly how I wanted it. The bun was well toasted, the cheese didn't over power the flavor of the burger patty, and the chorizo was a nice touch. They use a different type of chorizo than in the states so it was a nice change to the norm. Along side it I ordered the Rox fries, but honesty I wasn't impressed. Basically it was fries sprinkled lightly with some herbs and some cheese, nothing special. One complaint is that they messed up the other half of my order. Ordering for a friend who is deathly allergic to cheese, I asked for no cheese. The guy taking my order, before putting it in read off to me my order and specifically said the cheese is omitted, it evens says on the receipt. On this particular night I picked up the burgers for take away so when I brought it back to the house we noticed there was cheese! However they refunded it in the end, just make sure if you're making modifications to check a couple of times.

I've been on a burger quest (must remember to make a list) lately and I've got several more to try…read morethanks to Anna's thread. Mother Flipper was suggested as something approximating a US burger and since it's only 4 miles from my house I thought I'd give it a go one fine Saturday morning. Yes that's right, I had a burger for breakfast. And it was good. The boys behind Mother Flipper set up shop at Brockley Market (the logo is a broccoli floret surprise surprise) and they seem to have built a following. From the facebook page, I noted that waits can be up to an hour (the grill is fairly small so I believe it) and in order to avoid it I endeavored to be there at 10am when they opened. I got there at 10.01 and was already the 2nd in line. Go figure. The signature burger is the double bacon candy cheeseburger. What is bacon candy you say? Well you take some proper streaky bacon and caramelize in brown sugar. The meat patties are handmade and about a quarter inch thick but you get two of them so it's a hefty burger. The buns are soft and potentially brioche but it was hard to stop eating to tell. I did manage to get a couple of pictures but that's all I could wait for. The meat is tender and juicy although slightly over done for my tastes. I think maybe it was left on just a bit too long while they prepped the burger (they weren't quite set up by the time I was there and ordering). The sauce they put on was tomato based but when mixed with the sweetness of the candy bacon turned into a honey bbq type which was delicious. No complaints on the cheese although it's just basic cheddar me thinks. Be warned, take lots of paper towel as it's a messy burger. You will get it all over your hands and face without a doubt. Is it as good as the fabled burgers of Texas and the Midwest? Sadly no, but damn if it doesn't do a great job trying. I would love to see some chips being served too and a few cold drinks as the market is distinctly lacking in anything but coffee. But overall, one of the best burgers I've had in London to date. And that's saying something.

Love Mother Flipper!…read more I get it when they're at Kerb and it's one of my favourite burgers. They spend the time to make sure the ketchup and mustard are across the entire bun, and the lettuce and onions are cut small/thin enough to eat easily. The meat is a good mix, not too dense or too crumbly, and most importantly for me, not too strong. I find Patty & Bun, for example, has a gamey taste to their beef that just isn't something I enjoy. And then there's the crowning glory - candied bacon. Oh my days. I'd get a whole candied bacon sandwich if they let me. At £7 for not the biggest burger, it's a bit on the high side, but for the very occasional treat it is for me, I'm happy to pay it.

So I decided to come here to get some fries. I don't go to Five Guy at all in Los Angeles but since I was nearby this store during my work trip in London, I wanted to try it. I placed my order through their kiosk outside of the store. You can also order with someone at the counter too. I got the Cajun fries and went inside to wait for my order at the pick up area. I had to show my receipt to one of the worker and he started preparing my fries. They give you a lot of fries, he filled up the cup and put even more in the bag. I ate my fries inside of the place, I found a seat near the drinks machine. The Cajun spice on the fries were delicious and they were generous with how much seasoning they put. I enjoyed my fries and had to take some back to the hotel since there was so much. The customer service here was amazing.

Bref, it's the Five Guys that you know. If anything specific to this one, I would say that the team is very lovely. And patient, which is very rare in fast food restaurants. Because of the ATP Master's, the O2 was incredibly busy that day so I guess that's why they had so many customers then, all handled very well. Chapeau guys, will come back next time I crave a quick burger before a movie!

Final verdict? I only ate burgers one my entire trip at London, and it was at Burger & Beyond, but I can confidently say that it was one of the best burgers I've EVER had. I made a reservation for lunch at 12pm on a Wednesday. We ended up showing up 15 minutes past our reservation time due to delays on the Tube, but one of staff members was chill and had no problem with us arriving late. In general, customer service was amazing. Our server was friendly. Not as attentive, but that's what I expected at this point having been in Europe for 3 weeks. Food and drinks came out in a timely manner as well. Burger & Beyond has a lunch special by which a burger and chips were 10 Pounds. I got the Bougie Burger (single patty, double cheese, marrow mayo, steak sauce 2.0, and beef onions), and it was excellent. If I had to nit pick anything, it would've been nice if the bun was toasted. My fiancé got the Bacon Butter burger, and he was blown away by his as well. Sidenote: the best fries I've had in my 3 week trip in Europe was neither from Paris nor Brussels but in London at Beyond & Burger. Golden and crispy goodness.

The establishment has a nice mixture of cozy and airy, which was perfect for a lazy(ish) Sunday. I hate to use this word, but I'll use it anyway (because I can't think of a better descriptor): the service here is "super" friendly, and very knowledgeable, particularly regarding the ales on tap. The barkeep gave us a few sample pours without waiting for us to ask, which we greatly appreciated. Because of that, we were more than happy with the pints we ordered. Moving on to the food: the roasts were delicious, in particular the pork loin, which was moist and flavorful. I enjoyed my roast beef as well. The Yorkshire pudding was wonderful and I might have been just as happy eating that alone for my meal, to be honest. The pub is in walking distance of the touristy areas of Greenwich, so it's easy enough to put some good food in your belly and continue on to your sightseeing, afterward.
