From the second we arrived, it felt like someone had asked, "What if we built a hotel fueled entirely by joy, nostalgia, creativity, and just the right amount of weird?" Every inch of the property is intentional. You can tell this wasn't designed by someone trying to create a trendy Instagram backdrop--it was created by people who genuinely delight in delighting others. The themed rooms are works of art. Every time we noticed a detail, we'd immediately find three more. Hidden surprises, thoughtful references, incredible craftsmanship...it's impossible not to grin the entire time you're exploring. It somehow manages to be whimsical without ever feeling gimmicky. But what really made the stay unforgettable was the atmosphere. The free arcade, the hot tub under the pines, the fire pit, the cozy common spaces, breakfast in the morning--it all creates this feeling that you've stumbled into the coolest summer camp for grown-ups. We laughed more in one weekend than we have in months. And the staff? Truly wonderful. Warm, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they've built. That pride shows in everything, from how impeccably maintained the property is to the little touches that make you feel like a guest rather than just another reservation. In a world where so many hotels blur together, Hicksville Pines dares to have a personality--and a huge heart. It's playful, imaginative, peaceful, hilarious, and somehow incredibly cozy all at once. I'm already mentally planning which room I'll book next, because one visit is simply not enough. Thank you for creating a place that reminds adults how to play, encourages curiosity, and makes escaping to the mountains feel genuinely magical. If you're even remotely considering staying here: stop thinking and book it. Life is far too short for boring hotels

Highly recommended if you're a fan of cannabis and wish to partake in the privacy of your chalet (Room 420). Service was great and the breakfast waffles were delicious. The closest food options are about a 10 minute drive into town, but fortunately there are delivery services for Idyllwilde if you're lazy or too lit to drive from Hicksville Pines (lots of CHP along 243 so don't even risk it). I had a great stay and would definitely come back during the colder, snowier months. Truly a unique experience if you're looking to get away in the Southland. Thank you HP staff!

So what differentiates this from other Palm Springs area resorts? The service, by far. The property is phenomenal and the upkeep and maintenance is good, on par with other places. For example, at the pool, we found straws from the previous guest, etc. not a deal breaker, but something to observe. But everyone I interacted with genuinely seemed like they wanted us to have a good time. If it was fake, it was very good acting. From the valet to check in, amazing! Javier checked us in. 7 out of 5. Stress free. The pool area, 8 out of 5. Off the charts. Attention management: I stay at a lot of hotels and resorts. And though I'm sometimes overly generous with my ratings, I can honestly say Dru is the best server I've had, ever. She should run the joint! I wish I could give her a raise. Evan was pretty bad ass too and should be commended! Will I be back? 100 percent. Amazing property, rooms are great, staff is awesome. Food is good, but avoid the breakfast buffet at Rockwood. $40 for powdered eggs is no bueno! Other than that, you'll love it here!

The staff was attentive, and everything felt well organized. We had dinner at Aquifer65 & JW Sushi Bar one night, and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed dinner at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse, where the hibachi experience was both entertaining and delicious. The rooms are a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the property, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. The pools, grounds, and amenities make this a great place to spend a long weekend. I'd definitely recommend staying here--just be prepared if you're visiting in the summer. The 104-degree desert heat is no joke, so plan on spending plenty of time in the pool and staying hydrated!

We've interacted with several staff members and all of them were nice, extremely helpful and accommodating. The lake had beautiful views of the mountains and everyone had a great time. During the summer weekends, they have water play for the kids. There is a playground, volleyball and basketball courts and plenty of paved roads to ride bikes or scooters. The RV itself said it accommodates 6 people but personally I think it's good for 3-4 people. If you're very tall, the beds will be cramped for you. Everything you need is provided. Just bring your own food and drinks. There is a market at the entrance to buy some snacks, ice cream and drinks. All in all, we were very pleased with the campground and the great people working there. Highly recommended.

There is a portable Ac in the living room and a window ac in the bedroom. My child slept upstairs in the loft bedroom. The main issue is that you can't run both the portable and bedroom ac at the same time because it pops the breaker. The window ac is very noisy and makes a rattling sound. Don't even try to use the toaster and ac at the same time. It was 90s during the day and still very warm at night. It was an inconvenience not being able to run both AC units at night. They provided towels, toilet paper, soap and pans but no hair dryer. The groceries at the market are extremely expensive. Best to buy all your food at the stater brothers down the mountain to the campsite or go to the grocery store in Idyllwild. I rented the pontoon boat for fishing and that was my favorite part. It was so relaxing to cruise on the lake and enjoy the beautiful Mountain View. We caught a very large cat fish with the night crawlers. I recommend coming in the spring or fall to avoid the extreme heat during the day and bring all your food with you to save money. Come during the week for a more peaceful experience once Friday night hits, lots of families are arriving. Theres cafe in the market that has pretty good food but they have odd hours during the week. Idyllwild is a 15 minute drive with fun quirky shops and good restaurants to explore.
