I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because my previous visit was amazing. The food and overall experience left such a strong impression that I decided to surprise my girlfriend with dinner here for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, she didn't get the full experience I was hoping for. They offered a different menu for the holiday, and while the food was good, it just wasn't great like I remembered. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 4/5 Service - 4/5 Food - 4/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - I've always loved the atmosphere here, from the romantic lighting to the beautiful bar area and, of course, the giant fish tanks. However, on Valentine's Day, the couples' tables in the center of the room were placed extremely close together. It felt like we were all part of the same conversation, even though everyone was practically whispering. Service - Our waiter was professional overall, friendly, and offered good recommendations. However, he forgot to mention that the water we ordered was $6 per bottle, which we assumed was complimentary. I'm not entirely sure if the pricing was listed anywhere, but it definitely caught us off guard when the bill came. What We Ordered - - Stuffed baby octopus salad (Way overpriced for two tiny stuffed octopus served with a small side salad) - Moussaka (Thankfully, one of their original menu items was available. This was very good and lived up to expectations) - Chilean Sea Bass (The flavor was good, but was a bit underwhelming. The dish felt like a missed opportunity and could have been much more satisfying) Final Thoughts - Would I come back for special occasions or holidays? Probably not, since I'd worry about a limited or altered menu that might not live up to past experiences. Would I return on a regular day? Absolutely. I know what they're capable of, and at their best, they truly deliver a great meal. I also want to mention that the restaurant was very thoughtful. They prepared a personalized menu with our names printed on it and gave my girlfriend a rose, which she absolutely loved. That extra touch definitely made the evening feel special. read more

I've heard some great things about this place so decided to stop in for a date night dinner, unfortunately we both were a bit disappointed by the food. Hummus appetizer was great and they give you a big portion too! We got the chicken and moussaka for mains and both thought they were okay but not the best Mediterranean food we've had by far. The chef did pop by and make his rounds which was a nice surprise! tldr 3/5 food - good portions! This was my third time here but I have never done a review. On this warm summer evening, the place was rather empty but it also was quite early for dinner. We started with a Manyunk mule and a whiskey sour. We ordered plenty of apps: Hummus a la Saloncia, stuffed calamari (good, but should have gotten the fried), and the breaded zucchini. The latter was very good. Lightly breaded and thinly sliced. For the main course we had the special fish which was a whole bronzini with capers in olive oil and the sea bass with garlic, olive oil, wine, plated with potatoes and vegetables. Both were excellent but the bronzini was spectacular in every way. Just moist, perfectly seasoned, nice char, and succulent. Chef Konidaris, the genius behind all of these creations, came out to greet us when we arrived and again when we received our meals! Very kind and warm gentlemen! Great meal all around. read more

The food, service and ambiance are all exceptional. We started with Saganski, grilled flaming cheese which was delicious. Then we had a variety of spreads. Hummus, Tzatziki, and skordalia. Lastly for and appetizer we had the best grilled octopus I've ever had. It melted in my mouth. For an entree, I had Chilean Sea Bass which was tender and perfectly cooked. For dessert, I had Baklava Cheesecake, which was delicious. Highly recommend. read more

Zestys - Manayunk - Transported.... that is how I would describe being at Zestys. The vibe is mediterranean-meets-underwater-lounge, and the owner was super friendly and welcoming. Blue lighting, shimmering reflections, and a fish tank that's anything but static. At one point, the catfish and piranha behind us got into such a splashy tiff that my dad ended up with a surprise water feature at the table. Zesty's was such a fun surprise! The food was incredible--especially the grilled octopus, spanakopita, and filet . The sea bass and chicken salad were also good, and everything was beautifully plated. The octopus was my favorite, so tender....so many places can't quite get this dish right... usually is a tad rubbery at least. The owner, Tom, explained to us how the octopus gets so tender with their special equipment. They used to use a washing machine to tenderize it. Definitely worth a visit--it works on many levels, date night, special large event or family dinner with kids. My shrunken human was definitely entertained watching the antics of the catfish and piranha.... and also a fish sucking on the tank window.... I think cleaning the algae. Go for the food, stay for the vibes... and maybe bring a poncho if you're sitting near the fish. read more

Came back t for dinner for our 5th anniversary. Amazing food. We got the hummus appetizer, he got the gnocchi gorgonzola, I got the Greek salad and sangria, and we had orange cake and baklava for dessert. I live in manayunk and had never tried zestys before, so my girlfriend and I wanted to try it out. We waited 45 minutes before our server even came up to us. Our drinks didn't come for another full hour. The staff seemed very busy in the servers were ignoring our table. Meanwhile, there was some sort of influencer or restaurant reviewer who kept taking videos of the restaurant. It was offputting. The food was pretty tasty though. I don't know if it was 100% worth the wait. The vibes were good inside and outside but wish the tables weren't so tightly packed together and the servers weren't running into us and each other. read more

Some of the food was just ok and the portion sizes were small more like appetizer sizes than entries. The bread was good, the extra virgin olive oil with the spices were not bad. The chicken not bad The salmon was average The lamb was too tough The rice was good The cakes were ok cheesecake, chocolate, and the caramel was a bit flakey. Overall, I give it a 3 out of 10 and will not be returning ever again! WHAT A PLACE!!!! The four of us got full meals and it was delicious. Every single plate was empty. Our waitress Bianca was so sweet and was a perfect welcomer for our first time being here. Inside it is gorgeous and all of the chairs and tables are decorated with the colors of Greece! The appetizers were great and so were the entrees, the desserts took the gold, they were tasty and very well made. I also enjoyed watching the fish swim around while i ate! I was initially skeptical of this place based off of pictures and reviews BUT I'm glad that I took my friends word! I love that they offer indoor and outdoor seating. They had live music playing which was great and could be heard outside. I LOVE the menus being rolled up and how they were presented. The service was great! Fast but not rushing and the server did a great job getting what we needed. We ordered the crab cakes and whole fish (Branzino). Both were so fresh tasting and delicious! I loved the natural crust from the pan searing on the crab cakes! We also had side salads which were also delicious. I got a side of Tzatziki and pita to go which were also Soo fresh!! First time going to zestys. Myself and wife. Ordered several things. Wife ordered a seafood platter. She could not eat it. Loaded with salt like eating the Atlantic Ocean. I order Spanakopita . Triangle shape obviously a frozen item. Edges were hot but the center was ice cold. Also had the Mousaka it was extremely salty and I was unable to finish it. We both left hungry as our food was unable to be consumed. But the place was relaxing and very nice. The drinks were good. The service was also great. The food from ZESTY's is magnificent. I was treated to ZESTY's for my birthday. We had delicious fried calamari, spanakopita, crabcakes with vegetables and potatoes and baklava for dessert. Everything was just incredibly tasting. The crabcakes were all crab with no fillers, and the calamari was crispy and light, and the spanakopita was very light & baked with plenty of spinach and wonderful seasonings. The vegetables with the crabcakes were beautifully cooked. And the baklava is the best that I have ever had, with syrup just oozing everywhere.. We were a group of 18 people and our choices were delicious: for appetizers our group chose Avgolemono soup, Greek Salad, Grilled Octopus, flambé Greek cheese...all superb! The entrees selected were Greek Mousaka, jumbo Shrimp over rice, Crab Cakes, Chicken breast stuffed with feta and spinach, and baby lamb with tomato sauce over orzo. For dessert we all had baklava. Best Greek in Philly. I'm so sad that Zesty's is so far from me. Avgolemeno soup - absolutely out of this world here. I love my best friend to death (who is also Greek), but Zesty's has the best I have ever had. It's light yet creamy from the egg and it's just so perfect. The generous chunks of white meat chicken have consistently been tender, so you know the soup hasn't been simmering for hours making the chicken a choking hazard. Also, this soup is so hard to come by so please take advantage and try bowl when you come here. You won't regret it, I promise. Spanakopita - also a classical favorite. Crispy flaky phyllo dough with just the right ratio of spinach to feta cheese. Moussaka and Pastichio - amazing here. HOWEVER, they do top it with a tomato base sauce which I personally do not prefer. It's not because I don't like their recipe, I just don't like tomato based sauces too much so it's a personal preference on my part. However, I order it without it and I absolutely gorge myself. We decided to get the special and share a red snapper for $75. They feature their fish of the day on ice in the restaurant. So glad we picked it, totally worth it. You can tell the owner loves fish, has two giant pet fish in the restaurant. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a very good balance of herbs and citrus. The sides that came with it left a little to be desired, few carrots and green beans. The one thing that was not my favorite was that ordering there, was kind of like being in a sales meeting. Now let's break it down Food - the highlights were octopus ( A MUST ), Saganaki cheese, and stuffed spinach Burek. Everything was also great! Drinks - baklava martini. Can you believe it? Zestys overall was okay. The service was nice, however I did feel it was a bit pushy and the waitress wanted us to stay longer and order more items. I ordered the stuffed chicken dish and that was great. My mom had the crab cakes and said they were okay. Mussels appetizer was good. We ordered a bottle of wine that was good, but the wine and drinks list came out on an iPad type machine which was clunky and awkward.
