But honestly, I don't think one would specifically trek outside of CityGate to come and find this place if you weren't en route on your way home. Well, because that is how Hubby and I literally stumbled upon it because we were on our way home and I remembered there was a 759 store nearby. I digress, the Tavern is located on the G/F of the Coastal Skyline. Once you leave CityGate you will start to pass an area with many real estate offices in a roundabout area. There are stairs or a ramp down to the ground floor. There on the GF you will find My Thai restaurant and the now relocated 759 store. Initially, we were going to nab a table outside the front entrance but decided upon sitting at the bar instead. The place had only a few afternoon guests enjoying the day both at the bar and outside. I think what caught my eye ...and the most important thing was their sign that read "happy hour until 10pm" Surprisingly, most HH don't usually they don't start until 3pm the earliest and while we were there around 4pm ...happy hour had started five hours earlier! The place feels like you are sitting in someone's basement, honestly, more like a real man cave. It has a small intimate bar with seating for 6? A nice, plush, booth/chair/table area with a checkerboard black and white tile floor and large screen TV's for catching the big game or any sporting event. The bar area is dimly light and the table areas are cozy yet not too romantic if you know what I mean. I guess having those big screens they wouldn't want to scare away those Manly men to come and hang out! Our bartender was quick and friendly. After our drinks were poured, he provided a nice little snacking dish of rice crackers, peanuts. I love when places give you little munchies...of course it makes me want to stay longer so I know they never mind refilling it! Lol! I believe at some point during our leisurely period, I struck up a small conversation with the manager who was talkative and friendly. Hubby and I both agreed we'd definitely come back not just for the drinks but also to try out some food menu items as well! I think it will become like Cheers to us soon! At least I hope they will remember my name! Ha!

I've been here twice, both times after coming back down from the Big Buddha and with HK weather being warm and humid, by the time you walk past here you will be craving a cold beer! There is an outdoor seating area which overlooks the courtyard between the Tung Chung MTR station and the Citigate shopping complex. We spent about 90 minutes sitting here last visit - just relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere and people watching. They had a poster for frozen slushy Asahi beer which turned out to be only frozen froth and is like eating bitter ice ... not particular tasty!

Starz Wine Bar doesn't stay open till late, so it doesn't hold a candle to the cockroach infested corner of 7/11, but it is a good place to go for post-work drinks with a friendly neighbour, or for some day-beers to go with your snacks before movie time. I'm a chicken wings fiend (who isn't in Hong Kong?) and the plate of wings here are pretty good. They go down well with your Stella, Hoegaarden, Guiness, or whatever your beer of choice is. As for bigger meals, I would recommend their laksa which - although not as good as my own ha ha - is pretty satisfying with prawns, bean sprouts, a boiled egg, fishcakes and tofu. Their sandwiches and burgers aren't half bad either. Ashamed to say it but although this IS a self-proclaimed wine bar, I haven't tried their wine list. I feel like a lot of people who go here are, like me, swept away by the (usually hot, sunny) day and prefer an ice cold beer in the open air to a heavy bottle of red. At least, that's what I've noticed from my people-watching here. Starz is NOT rowdy - rather: it's a really chill place to share a few drinks with your family or friends after a hard day's work.

Review for the business class lounge…read more This takes the cake for one of the best lounges I have ever experienced in my life; the showers here were absolute game changers for my 30+ hour journey and made feel like I was alive again. I used this lounge as two different hours in the day; once in the afternoon/evening and once in the morning. I honestly faced much less of a crowd in the morning with 0 wait for the showers. In the afternoon, they quoted me a 30-40 min wait but I was able to get in within 15 min. The shower suites are great with an individual toilet, shower, and necessary amenities including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, a dental kit, hair tie, blow dryer. Honestly, amazing. Kept quite clean between travelers as well. Now on to the food, good lord there is a selection of food here between the western items, the barista, the bar, the noodle bar, and the tea room. I mostly frequented the noodle bar which I loved for having so many veg friendly options like the cucumber, the wood ear mushroom, and the tomato vermicelli noodles. I also grabbed some garlic eggplant and scallion noodles on the side. I wish I had tried the coffee station but honestly, they had hong kong milk tea in jugs and you know a girl couldn't resist. The tea room also had hot teas and egg tarts as well as some small sweeter bites. The staff was friendly, helpful even when there was a bit of language barrier at times. Really well maintained, peaceful lounge which helped me survive my journey and feel refreshed.

The team is very friendly and efficient which made the place an overall welcoming place to be. As a business class traveler, with a layover, you will have access to 3 of their lounges. They are spread over 65 gates in Terminal 1. So it depends where your connection departure gate is. In my case, that meant that I should visit the Wing. I have been here a year ago, when I had an almost 12 hour layover and visited all the 3 lounges. Coming to the Wing this time, really impressed me. While it may not have much seating, its food choices have vastly improved. There are many different culinary areas with enticing food choices. Most significant, there is also a noodle bar, which is nothing short of spectacular. What is disappointing here is the bar. All the Spirit brands are low tier. If you can stomach that, the service her is exemplary. The staff is happy, accommodating, polite and friendly.

At the onset, let me say that it took me almost 45 - 60 minutes to find this place !!! Yes, this airport is huge, but there are NO SIGNS for the lounges. The Yelp posting said Gate 16, when it is actually near Gate 6. I was on level 7 close by and they told me that I had to go down to level 6 and walk "that way". Then, I see a sign, pointing upwards, and it only says lounge (which airline you may ask). Anyway, I finally end on level 7 (where I actually started), and find the lounge. To say I was tired is an understatement. It was only a 4 hour flight from Phuket, but after arrival here, the walking (many of the walkways are shut down), to get here was painful. And for what? Meager food choices, a self service bar with 5 non premium brands of liquor, clueless staff and overall rude service. Seating areas are limited, but there was a lot of space. I am not surprised, why would someone come here? Near Gate 2, there is the Wing, a much better Cathay Pacific lounge. The crown jewel though is the Pier (near Gate 60), it is a long walk, but you can take the train that way for a good portion of the distance. I was there inbound, and that is where I will end up before catching my direct flight to LAX. I did make a comment to the reception staff here (where are the signs?)....Nobody really cares. They hardly respond. Finally, you would think, that since Hong Kong is home to Cathay Pacific, the airport hallways would be flooded with lounge information. They have 530 gates over here. It's mind blowing. And transportation between these extreme locations is well below par. You can take a train in One Direction to cut down the walking time, but it is not existent in the other direction, who the hell planned this place? Hong Kong officials need to travel to stellar international airports to see how it is actually done. LAX included. Oh well.

Don't let my Asian cover fool you because I well, when you grow up with Scandinavian parents you just don't eat a lot of spicy food! Salt and Pepper were considered "spices"! When I found out that Handi was literally a few miles from our flat, and it came highly recommended by friends who live on a different part of the island, I told my husband we must try it out. He looked at me like I had 5 heads because I had never tried Indian food so he couldn't wait to take me there. This place is the cutest. Yes. It's so quaint and tiny. I feel like I'm in the owner's home. We chose to eat inside where there's about 5 tables from two-seaters up to 6 seats. Each table decked out in red and white checkered cloths. The menu is like a small book, with a variety of sections to choose from. It was quite plentiful. As well as several options for vegetarians too. From the first bite to the last crumb, everything was delicious! It's definitely going to be our go-to spot from now on. I think what made this meal so incredible was the combination of the home cooked feel of the food accompanied by such hospitable and wonderful service from the owner. I think he could tell we truly enjoyed our food, and he gave us their take away menu and told us they have free delivery for certain areas. Indian cravings will be fully taken care of here! Prices are reasonable. Service is quick and friendly. Bring yourself or bring the entire family, you won't be disappointed.
