We showed up here without an appointment in the middle of the day and the owner was gracious enough to accept us. The location is beautiful and when you walk in they have about 10 spas in the back. I didn't even walk around the whole place but it was huge and wonderfully decorated. There was three of us I was visiting from out of town and my friend was the local. She said it was absolutely fine we didn't need an appointment. Well yeah we sure did. So one of us was started getting a pedicure. I don't mean to be ungrateful because we were taken in and everybody was put in foot spas within 30 minutes. But I wasn't able to get what I wanted. I asked for my nails to be made even and they weren't. They were filed extremely rough. And some of my toes weren't even filed at all. I asked for them to be cut a short as possible and they were not. For the record I feel terrible saying all this. But I also am a customer in a business and if I walk in and ask for specifics and you don't have time please send me away. Don't help me get a job done on my nails that doesn't make me happy and frustrates me. I had to do my best to manage myself and not get irritated and be my best self in the situation which I feel that I did. However, taking more on than you can handle is not a good thing because it sacrifices quality. read more

Looking for a new nail salon I came by one day and was told they only take appointments online. I made an appointment online and still waited over 30 minutes to be seen and when I brought the obvious to them I was told it was a busy day. Yet someone with no appointment was able to be seated and assisted. This person was not a regular. I am not sure why there was inconsistency. The place was energetic playing early 2000 hits. They offer a variety of color options for gel, regular polish, or dip. They do not take the time to sanitize between customers, but do have a clear Plastic shields for manicure and pedicure stations. I would encourage you watch your manicurist wash their hands before working on you as I saw many just hop from one client to another without proper hand washing. I also suggest you ensure they have sanitized tools. Due to the lack of hygiene seen. They have some unique decor that is old and dusty. The lady who did my gel manicure was very talkative. My manicure lasted two weeks with no chipping which was a plus, but the experience wasn't the best. I hope yours is better if you choose this place. read more

Fantastic pedicure and excellent service! I had my first visit and loved the zen pedicure. It includes parrafin and that always helps my feet feel incredible. The pedicure felt wonderful and they had hot stones. I never experienced it before but the hot stones felt good. They use OPI polish that I like too! I liked the massage chairs and they have plexiglass between you and the nail tech. There isn't glass between customers however. And the chairs are a little close together but I wore my mask so I felt alright. Excellent service! read more

I don't know why I go anywhere else. Since moving to the Providence road area I stopped here first and had a great experience. It's a large place, fully staffed with good front desk help. They take appointments and honor them, I've never had to wait, even with a walk in. They offer a full range of services including brow waxing and SNS. Oh and of course wine, this is charlotte now com'n it's a must! I've tried a handful of other places in the area, and my biggest pet peeve is when I make an appointment and I have still have to wait 20+ minutes. What was the appointment for? Also, when there is absolutely zero front desk staff when I'm trying to check in (I'm looking at you Mickey's)! All said and done, there's a million new places opening up all the time with chandeliers and great ambience, but let's be honest, you want a clean place that does your nails well, for a good price. I LOVE that they use disposable LINERS in their pedi tubs. Even the most expensive places in town (like the Ballantyne Resort) dont use them. They have several pedi's to choose from. The cheapest is the express which is all the regular stuff but no massage, great if u r really watching your budget. I am a year into living in Charlotte... I don't know what it is about this area and nail salons. Biggest problem is most are over priced and do not honor appointments they make. This one is no exception, it's pretty dusty, some of the chairs need replacing, not enough selection of colors and the samples that are out are old and messy. The worst part about it - twice now i have made an appointment and each time (two different ppl) were not available at my appointment time as they had taken somebody else. I proceeded to wait 30 minutes. Maddening. What is the point of making an appointment if they are not going to honor it? Seems very greedy to me. On top of it they keep raising prices and putting random $3-5 charges for miscellaneous things and don't tell you till check out. My favorite nail salon. I've been going to this salon since 2013 and love both Cindy and Lynn.

I don't know why I kept giving this place a chance. But after today, I am done. I did SNS on my hands- specifically asked for my nails to be square and thin. The shape is irregular and my nails look like thick globs. I chose funny bunny by OPI for my toes and the color had the ugliest hint of yellow, which is weird considering I've worn this color so many times and it's never looked like this. Everything felt rushed, lacked attention to detail and it was honestly a waste of $70. My moms nails looked inconsistent with the color and her tails showed lines of a second coat of polish. The wine wasn't even good. Not a relaxing experience and not worth your money. The only talented nail tech at Zen is Kim- she doesn't work Thursday and Sundays if interested. Besides that, everyone else is inconsistent and unprofessional. Don't waste your time/money. read more

Showed up at 6 min after opening and there was already a 10 min wait. Lol. No biggie. I got BO. She was great and did a fantastic job on my gel manicure and pedicure. She was very accommodating with my indecision on nail colors. (It's such a big commitment when you don't get to get your nails done ever!) Decided on a fresh baby pink white on my nails and dark on my toes. Clean application and super shiny!! Giving 4 stars and not 5 because it was a bit pricey. $65.00 for pedicure and gel mani. And I was there for 2 hours. Took a little longer than I was looking to spend in the nail shop first thing in the am. Other than that, very clean and great leg/foot massage. Offered coffee/wine/hot tea/water upon arrival and there's also a sign that says "NO TALKING IN VIETNAMESE WHILE WORKING WITH CUSTOMERS" which I thought was awesome considering most places do and you low key feel like they are talking shit about your neglected toes. read more

Wow. People write when it's either really good or bad. I'm writing because after the second time I absolutely have to say it was bad... I didn't mind the initial difficulty in language barriers as I work with an international population, but it was the absolute poor customer understanding and service, plus stinginess, that did it for me. (Nothing to do with language.) In short, I went for the second time.... Specifically requesting AGAIN that I had a tight window for mani and pedi simultaneously which they agreed upon my cal. When I arrived and saw how delayed and unprepared they were, they apologized because they were "busy" today. Not the point. So I Respectfully complained about this same error, Yet had to wait another 30 minutes for them to start and then tell me that I was too picky to ask for my nails to be cut short first before filing and they didn't want to serve me if I was so picky. I was offended to the max. I told my little niece (whom I took for a salon date) "sorry but we are leaving". I told them they should be good and nice to customers and walked out upset. The rude man walked out grabbing my niece's arm to make sure to tell us "don't come back". Instead of filing a harassment lawsuit or a formal business bureau complaint we walked over and enjoyed a walk-in service across the street at Ultra Boutique Salon who automatically offered me a $20 discount for "making me wait" even though I never asked for it set up an appointment in advance! The decorations and indoor setting of the place is very pretty. I went today to go get SNS with tips , firstly I walked in and they told me to pick my color. All of the girls surrounding me making me feel rushed to pick a color. Next I'm seated and I am not offered a drink or introduced to the women who were doing our nails. She doesn't make eye contact with me or my friend , nor does she speak a word. She turns the nail drill on so high that it is burning my corners of my nails and they are both rushing through their services. She finished in 30 minutes or less and another woman walked in , where she was greeted asked how her day was and offered drinks. Then she goes on to ask me at the end of my nails being done if I would like a drink. I will not be returning to this place after this treatment. Shouldn't even have tipped. read more

I decided that it's better to "adjust" my review than to mislead a fellow yelper,,, Just to revisit my prior review,,, Pros of the salon - esthetics, cleanliness, and friendly staff. The cons - the service and price. Keep in mind it was my first visit but it made such an impression that I felt the need to adjust my previous comment. Anyone that has been in this line of work should be able to determine who might need a little extra TLC on their tootsies. - I'm one of those customers :) I run, so my feet need that extra love and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize this. I will assume part of the responsibility for not asking about the different pedicures that they offer but I do think that a professional should have picked up on this. (I asked but I guess it was too late in the process because I was told "I could get the deluxe treatment next time.") Needless to say I am back at my old salon today (which I love). My feet were so horribly rough after the pedicure that I had to go just a week after my last pedicure. So in closing, if you visit this establishment...make sure you ask about what they offer and I hope your mani/pedi turns out just perfect for you! :) *********** Shhh... Don't tell! I'm cheating on my regular nail salon (Posh Nails) but only because I was traveling by this area and I received a very reliable referral. Otherwise, I would be hesitant to try a new salon. (Obviously, cleanliness is always a big concern). With that said, as far as I could tell, it was a clean salon and they take an extra step to line the pedi tub. I've never seen anyone do this so it makes me wonder if it was their decision to protect their customers or maybe possibly a request from an inspector because of the type of material that was used to construct the bowls. I would hope it's the former. When I initially walked in, there were quite a few employees at the front but I wasn't sure if someone was ready to help me or not. It was a tad bit strange. When you step into the back you immediately feel that they are a class act. It's very visually pleasing and serene. They have a large tv but while I was there it was loop of goldfish swimming in a stream. I'm pretty sure they broadcast regular tv which I'm not really a fan of when I'm trying to zone out and relax. To put a bow on this,,, Nice place, clean & relaxing. They did a good job on my pedicure and the person who took care of me was attentive. Would I return?? Yes. Would it be my first choice,, Not so sure. Here's a tip- When u walk in, ask them what type of pedicures they offer. I neglected to do this because I go to the same place all of the time. The regular pedicure at this salon is $30. I pay this where I go but it's the deluxe "Nu skin" version,,,,which I need. (I run and workout so my feet take a beating.) I need the ultra deluxe pedi! My feet aren't nearly as pampered as they could have been with a deluxe pedicure. Not sure what that would have cost. Oh well! The best nail salon in Ballantyne - and I've been to plenty of them! I've since moved about 30 minutes away from Ballantyne to the South End neighborhood, but I still travel here to get my nails done because I've yet to find a better place. Management is kind, friendly and prompt - there are even signs around the salon that ask techs not to speak in Vietnamese while working with customers. I've grown to be friends with a handful of the workers because they're all personable and friendly. My mom and I come here to catch up and socialize and we always request Bo and Mollie.They do a PHENOMENAL job and pamper us every time! NOTE: This is not a 20 minutes for service type place. They take their time pampering you and paying attention to every detail and it pays off when you see your nails! Definitely come here if you have the time and are looking to feel relaxed when you leave, but don't stop in thinking it'll be super speedy. The salon is in a great location and the decor and atmosphere is glamorous, clean and well kept. I love the massage chairs, plastic wrapped bowls for pedicures (they are very sanitary) and the fact that they offer free wine and water during your services! I love chatting with my nail techs as they're some of the sweetest ladies I've ever had. Perhaps my favorite part about this nail salon is their MASSIVE selection of colors and how easy they make it to find you a color you want. If you find a color you like, they can even help you find a gel equivalent or vice versa if you don't see it. I've had Tom, the manager, offer some suggestions for seasonal colors and he nails it every time (ha, ha. nails it). They are so well organized they can find whatever color you'd like within minutes. I never run out of options. If you're looking for waxing services, I've had both Michelle and Chloe do my eyebrows and they turn out great every time. I don't think you can get a bad tech at Zen Nails and Spa! Highly recommend. Pro tip: If you write a Yelp review and show it to management, you'll get a Zen Nails and Spa membership card. This perk is AWESOME! Present the card when you pay for your service Monday-Wednesday and you receive a discounted rated every time. I originally wasn't going to leave a negative comment but after my daughter went again and had another poor experience, I will. My daughter took me to Zen on mother's day and I was looking forward to a little pampering. What happened was far different. Two young girls were doing our pedicures and while my daughter's tech did a decent job, my tech had little interest in me and merely played with my toes while whispering and giggling to the girl next to her. The entire visit went this way and was the poorest pedicure I'd ever had. Quite a disappointing Mother's Day treat. I recommend going somewhere else. read more

The facts: I have really weak nails. They split at the sides and I have never had long nails in my life (I'm 50). I did try acrylics for my wedding 20 years ago, but it left my nail beds in terrible shape and I gave up. I saw the SNS Nail sign and went in to ask about this service. A gentleman explained that it was a relatively new service and could help my nails grow out by strengthening them. It was in the morning so I was able to give them a try right then. The service took about an hour, but I now have a set of really nice nails that feel very strong. The length is short (they asked me what I preferred), so I can type without a huge adjustment from my previously stubby nails. They look lovely! I wish I had tried this a long time ago. A big improvement over the acrylics of old. I can certainly recommend this salon, Mai, my technician, and the SNS nail services. Thank you! read more

I love this place. I can always get an appointment during the week and they are very prompt and helpful. I like that they offer refreshments and take really good care of you. Every manicure/pedicure I've had has been great. I get SNS on my hands and it lasts a good three week. I noticed that other reviews noted that the nail technicians were asked not to speak Vietnamese and they like that a lot. That has gone by the wayside. Now the women just chatter away in Vietnamese and you're left to wonder what their talking about. I find this very rude and would go somewhere else if the service wasn't so good. read more
