I have been going to Zen Nails for a few months now. I booked my appointment last week for 6pm. (they close at 7). i was the 4th and last client. simple combo of dip/acrylic. Tammy started on my nails as the other techs finished with their clients. she was rushing. At 6:30 they started sweeping and talking loudly. The male tech started the mop water. He poured an excessive amount of Fabuloso into the water and began mopping. I began coughing. Tammy asked if I was ok and I said, No, I am very sensitive to Fabuloso, I wished he would of said something." She was mid finished with my nails. I just wanted to leave. I never felt so rushed, like they couldn't get out fast enough; the smell of the chemicals was intense and the overall service was meh. my nails have no color on the sides (I picked a pink sparkle). I definitely notices a difference since the manager was not present. I won't be back read more

The worst customer service and they had us waiting an hour for our pedi's. One of the sinks for the pedi's broke and nobody came to help us. I had to get up and get someone to help. The first person said to leave, the 2nd person ignored me, and FINALLY the 3rd person I asked got up and fixed the water. This is when a man who I'm assuming is the manager got ran over and told me that if I didn't want to wait any longer, I should just leave. Great place for a pedicure. They are always friendly and they keep the place very clean. I have had a pedicure from at least 10 different employees and I have yet to have an experience that I didn't like. What I appreciate the most is that they take their time with you, even if they are really busy and people are waiting. If you get a pedicure other than their basic one, they spend around an hour on your pedi and a good part of that time on massage. I really like this place and the people who work here and always look forward to my monthly pedicure with them! Looking through the reviews, a lot of people give them negative reviews for having to wait but in my opinion, it's well worth it. I know that when it is my turn that they will take their time with me. The longest I've ever had to wait, even when they've been really busy, is 30 minutes. read more

I only gave 1 star bc I had to in order to leave a review. To begin with, it doesn't matter what you want they are going to do whatever they want to do. They didn't give me the nails I asked for and when I tried to tell them I got major attitude. The girl even huffed and then started talking to another girl in their language obviously about me. They also did the same to my girls. I asked for my nails to be dipped as did one of my daughters, because they last better. They gave us gel and did an awful job. if you want a bad job and you enjoy people being rude to you then go to Zen....I see they have 2.5 stars and honestly they deserve less. Total waste of money! Their customer service is terrible and they are so unprofessional. chose a color, which turned out nothing like it had looked in their book, I made it clear to my nail tech that I didn't like it, but he still continued to finish them and also charge me the full amount. When I had asked one of the ladies what we could do to fix them, she told me to come back 3 hours later to fix them and when I asked for them to remove them and give me a refund, I was met with "well we don't do refunds so come back later" and then my original nail tech came to the front to accuse me of "letting" him finish my nails and yell at me that I chose the color. My nails came out looking horrible I asked the lady who was doing my nails to go shorter about ten times but she simply did not listen and ignored my request, she then noticed that I was talking to my friend about about my nails and started being very rude after I was done I was sitting waiting for my friends to finish up and she was talking to her coworkers about how I was staring at my nails she was just honestly very rude. This is the 3rd and last time I will visit Zen. Each time I've been I've waited for at least 45 minutes, sometimes more. I have one friend who loves it, so I kept giving it a try. This time we waited for 15 minutes at the front, and then 30 minutes in the pedicure chair. My friend and I both had cold water by the time they finally got started. I went in to get a dip manicure done. My tech was nice but didn't realize seem like he knew what he was doing. When he finished with my nails, he put gel top coat on my dip nails without putting gel prep on. Once they dried they were bubbly and not finished correctly. I asked the women at the front if they could take that top coat off and put the correct top coat on for my dip or at least prep the gel top coat. She told me no but that if one broke I could come back to get them fixed. Very frustrating experience. read more

I've come to this place since it opened. In the beginning, when Amy was the manager, this place was so good. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the service was good. Recently I've been extremely disappointed. I've had multiple problems within the last year. Just after a Christmas last year, I went in to get my dip and tips taken off and nothing put back on. This wasn't the first time I had gotten this done and I previously had never been charged. The lady put oil on my cuticles and said "go wash your hands and you're done", not to mention didn't give me a ticket (which indicates that I owe money). So I washed my hands and walked out to go home. I get in the car, and I'm about to leave when the lady that took my nails off is outside my window. I rolled the window down and she says "you didn't pay". So I go back inside and everyone in the place looks at me. I waited in line to pay and when I get to the counter the lady was extremely rude. I said "I have never had to pay to get my nails taken off before." And the lady said "well ma'am, we charge when you don't get anything put back on your nails." I was embarrassed and so upset. This experience made me never want to come back. When it was time for prom and I needed to eat my nails done, I went back because I was too nervous to go somewhere new. So I went back for prom and once after that. The second time, I took a close family member that was in town. When she asked for the electric file not to be used on her nails, the lady that did her nails used it anyways, disregarding her request. In the process, she nicked her cuticle with it. After a month, the cut was still on her cuticle and was infected. She went to the doctor, and she got a staph infection from the cut. I've heard recently that this place hasn't been being cleaned properly by the staff and has gone downhill. I'm so disappointed. Don't go here. read more

I came to get my nails done, dip with tip on. While the lady was drilling my nails she kept cutting me. My fingers were burning like crazy. I was bleeding on three fingers and she still kept messing with them. I paid $55 just for dip nails with tips on! Usually my nails cost $40/45. We were just there today and two of the girls were not the kindest. We got there around 5:30 when they close at 7:30 and they had us sitting waiting for about an hour and rushed the whole pedi. We tried making conversation with the girls and they would ignore us and also (obviously) mimick us. The attention was horrible and they half as*ed everything. We will never go there again as we noticed a difference in attention compared to other's who were racially different than us. I have never complained about a nail salon so that should tell you a lot. Believe the reviews. It doesn't matter if you make an appt, you still wait an hour or longer. There are currently 4 people getting a pedicure and there are 8 people soaking their feet and waiting for a pedicure. The lady beside me waited 45 minutes on the sofa with an appt, then was shown to a pedicure chair and has waited an hour with her feet soaking. First time coming here and they told us it would be a 10 minute wait but we waited 45 minutes (it was busy tho) and once we sat down I wanted a v tip with different colors and they told me it would be 70 dollars! Very expensive. Then when they were done I accidentally bumped the plastic "protective" shield and she grunted and rolled her eyes. Then I told her that my little sister just wanted hers painted and she took her and did it extremely sloppy and it looks terrible. I came in for a pedicure and asked for a menu of designs. I was told to find a picture on pinterest and that they could do something from there. I found a flower design and was assured that the girl doing my pedicure could do it. Long story short, she most definitely couldn't. The flowers on each big toe didnt even resemble each other. To top it off, when I asked for a manager I was told they could call her and she would be here in around 45 minutes. I then asked for her number to call her myself and was told that there is no manager. If you want garbage quality service, this is the place. I've been to Zen 3 times. I do not know why I keep going back, actually I do, it's close to where I live. I will not return though. They are so rude every time. I feel like they don't care about good customer service because they are always busy anyway. I guess they figure they still have plenty of other customers. It will get to the point to where people stop going though. There is always a huge wait and the nail techs are usually irritated and don't talk to you. I've been to so many other salons where they make me feel like family. I will return to these and will no longer be going to Zen. The only reason they are still busy is because they are pretty new and people still want to try out the new place. Or like in my case, it's close and convenient. They will eventually lose all of their customers if they don't start being friendlier. read more

I've tried a lot of nail salons in Amarillo, and this is the only one I like (especially for Nexgen/dip powder). It's not great, the employees are very inconsistent, but Evan and Steve are the BEST! There have been times when I've gone and they were booked/weren't there and I got someone else and my nails have come out uneven, sloppy, and not what I asked for. But Evan and Steve pay really close attention to detail, and always do an amazing job​. If you're thinking of going here, definitely try to get in with them! The staff is always super nice, although they can be short (but what Asian isn't short mannered at times). the pedicures are always amazing and they can do ALMOST any design that you ask for. I'm not sure how me saying I want the first picture exactly turns into me receiving the second picture and it being my fault it's wrong? I've went here a few times in the past and not had any issues, but today was completely different story. I had my pedicure first and the male tech was very distracted and constantly on his phone, but it's really hit or miss with their pedicures so it wasn't a big deal. He was so distracted he almost used the wrong color on my toes. He then asked if I wanted my nails done (which I said when I came in) and when I said yes he acted very irritated. I showed him the first picture and said I want this exactly. Almond shape, as short as possible. I was confused when he started dipping the tips white, but I didn't want to tell him how to do his job thinking maybe he was going over it with black to make it more opaque. Once I asked he claimed I said I wanted white which wasn't true. He got his manager or the owner (I'm not sure which she is) and they proceeded to argue in front of everyone in the salon. I explained to her he had been distracted the whole time. I told them they didn't have to redo them if I could come back in and have them done as I asked next time for free which she agreed to. The techs attitude only got worse from there and he was still on his phone every chance he got. I decided I honestly wasn't comfortable coming back and having them done for free if that's how I was going to be treated and no one could even apologize. When I explained that to the manager/owner and said I would just like these nails for free and I wouldn't be back she said if I didn't pay they had to take them off. I explained I wasn't paying for something I didn't ask for. She eventually and reluctantly agreed. If anything goes wrong just be prepared for it to be your fault. read more

I like the salon but the inconsistent staff makes it a hit or miss experience. 1st time here. It was recommended by patrons that frequent the salon. My friend had a great manicure done by Hannie. I however had the worst manicure I've ever had. Emily (sp?) used the power sander to remove my gel polish and cuticles. This was not only extremely hot & painful, she kept bending my fingers side to side, and digging her own nails into each of my fingers. She sanded one of my cuticles until it was bleeding. She attempted to remove some of the excess blue dip color stuck to my skin around my nails with cuticle clippers and ended up cutting the skin in multiple places. She didn't let me know that nails have to dry for 3 minutes before they're partially set. She had me wash my hands too early and I had to have nail redone. There are color voids all over on the nails. She was on her phone/apple watch phone calls the entire apt. She was in such a massive hurry that she rushed through the apt. carelessly, and aggressively. There is blue dip filling each and every one of the voids between my the underside of my finger nails and the skin. There's also blue all over the bottoms of my hands. read more
