Roger at Zen Day Spa is a great masseuse. A one hour massage is $40.00 and he really, really knows what he's doing. He also really, really works hard for the entire hour., so if you go give him a good tip. Andy is very good also. I keep thinking about massages I've gotten elsewhere for $100 or more that are nowhere near as good. I can't figure out why this place isn't busier than it is. Reception said " Yes", so I asked oil massage. when massage person come into room, I was shocked, because reception didn't tell me that men will be massage my body. If it's regular massage, I don't mind men or women massage my body, but it's oil massage. He did really good job , but I couldn't relax. I ask they have women massage person, she said "yes, but you need make appointment by phone and request women massage" that good to know,next time I will call and ask women massage. 4star because reception didn't ask me to mind men massage my body. First impression here, plus my husband went before & suggested I try it. I was not too excited about sitting in 5 o'clock traffic today. So before hitting the freeway (after a long work day), I pulled into the lot of Zen Day Spa & I headed up the stairs. I was politely greeted by a very nice young woman. I asked if walk-in's were welcome. She replied "yes!" I said "do you have something now?" she said "yes!" I paid with credit, but I think because it was my first visit she charged me cash price. I tipped ahead of time because I did not have cash on me. I was a little hesitant to pay/tip without the service first but my husband had such a great experience here before, so I wasn't worried about it. They did not ask if a man was ok first, which doesn't bother me much, it just caught me off guard a little when she said "he" would be right in. No big deal for me, but a tip to others. The masseur was Ken & he was absolutely fantastic!! Definitely deep tissue massage. I was in the mood for a bit less but once it began I knew its what my body needed. Deep tissue massage is not very relaxing & you probably won't fall asleep during but a few days after the soreness wears off you feel new!! I feel relaxed now & will go hydrate. I come here at least once a month to let out that restaurant management tension. It is exactly what I need at a price I like. There's no eye pillows, cucumber water, or any other day spa perks that you get from places that charge you more. If you need those tough knots worked out so you can start your week fresh, this is the place. After having been booked with several different therapists, I finally decided Sam was the one for me. I noticed he always feels out my body at first to find those trouble spots and those areas are what he focuses on for the rest of the session (60 minute full body). Sometimes, it's areas I didnt even realize were bothering me. With that said, my sessions are always slightly different depending on where I hold my tension that week. For me, this isn't a come in and be treated like a princess sort of place. I come here to have work done. I've never had a ZDS therapist NOT put alot of pressure on me. I absolutely love this place!! I went in for a full body massage, I am a hairstylist so I have chronic pain in my back, neck and shoulders. I got a deep tissue massage that was fabulous! I left feeling like a whole new person. The place was nice, clean and warm. The only noise I heard was the sound of flowing water and classical music. I have gone three times, and have had Henry every time. I take cash and do the 40 minute foot reflexology and 20 minute back massage which is $30. You start on a recliner, that goes pretty far back, and they soak your feet in hot water. I love deep massages, and Henry has great pressure! For the foot portion, you are usually in a room with other people who are getting the same type of massage. After you are done with the foot portion you are taken to a room where you lay down, fully clothed, for the back portion. PROS: They get you in immediately. Their hours are great, you can go after your yoga session or evening run. They have relaxing music. Great smell. Deep pressure. CONS: This last time I went, my friend didn't tip the guy, I don't know why. However, when I tipped my guy the receptionist made it a point that my friend hadn't tipped and needed to. I told her that she would have to discuss that with my friend as it was none of my concern. She proceeded to go find my friend in the parking lot to get a tip for the masseuse. What this means to me is that they probably don't pay their workers well enough and they rely on tips. While I am happy to tip, I don't think it should be demanded, nor should you go to the extent of finding me in the parking lot. I will go again because I do love the pressure, but I do not find the receptionist professional nor understanding of customer service. read more

This place used to be a hidden gem. I had been many times and every therapist was highly trained in reflexology and massage. Yesterday my experience was so disappointing - the therapist had zero training. My sister was next to me and had the same experience. We were shocked - staring at the men at our feet who were just rubbing our feet. and i mean, just rubbing - no pressure points, no pulling of toes, no deep massages, nothing. My experience went from complete annoyance to shocked to comedic. After the "foot massage" we went back to a room for the table massage and it was the same. I had my eyes wide open as I was laying down with my head in that donut completely astonished at what was happening to me. I was so tempted to sit up and ask, "What the hell are you doing?" Their best therapists have left and apparently they've hired people who haven't a clue what they are doing. I noticed that they took the Reflexology poster down from the wall - given that it means nothing to most of the therapists there that makes sense. We do know that Ben is still there and he's great...our other three favorites have moved on. I'd love to know where they are working now. I'd give my business to their new place of employment as I'm never going back to Zen Spa. What a bummer. it used to be awesome! read more

The worst. My boyfriend and I went in for a massage, and felt like POWs being tortured. It seemed like they were looking for the most painful parts of our bodies. We came out in more pain than we came in. And it wasn't like the good feeling you get at some Asian massage places where they're firm/somewhat painful but gets better later. No. This was pure unfiltered torture. Both of us felt the pain for days. I've been to some places that have hurt but not like this. They were out for blood. If you want to pay money to have someone inflict pain on you until you have tears in your eyes and want to end the session early, this is the place to go. My bf and I come here a couple of times a month for the foot/full body combo. The cost is extremely reasonable and keeps us coming back. The first 40 minutes is a foot massage and last 30 minutes is a full body, but really just focused on your back. Your experience will vary greatly on the masseuse you get, so I recommend trying a couple out and finding the one that meets your needs/wants. The massage was quite intense and there was strong pressure the entire time. There was a moment when I flinched, and he automatically adjusted the pressure to be intense... but not excruciating. I just had the most wonderful massage with Betty. Her method was some sort of hybrid of Swedish, Thai, acupressure. The room was very quiet save for the soft mellow piano music in the background. The room smelled of nothing, which is good (nice smells are a bonus but no smell works for me). The room was warm and dark enough. The table was extremely comfortable and seemed clean. I went there last friday, and I'd been having lots of trouble sleeping a very sore back, shoulders, and neck for many days. I was allured by the inexpensive cost, and honestly was willing to try out the 100min for $60. I don't recall the man's name, his english speaking level was as a beginner, but ok. I didn't need to speak at all as he was able to get into the area's that needed serious work, and he was aware and intuitive. It was an excellent, and occasionally painful (albeit expected due to my injuries), but very good deep tissue to the level i can handle (which is quite high, having been told by numerous masseuses.) I will be returning on a weekly basis... how can i pass this up after YEARS of bodywork with average experiences at high costs. This is the best! read more

This was my first time at Zen Day Spa. I slipped in after a yoga class next door and was happy to see that they had openings for a walk in. For $35 I got a foot massage and a full body. Seems like an awesome price. I found the body massage a little too rough for my taste. I felt like I got some work done on a lot of knots so good in the long run, but painful in the short run. I think next time I would just get a 60 min. foot massage. Loved the little hot bath. I fell asleep in the quiet dark room. Will be back for sure. read more
