I chose the 60 min body massage, swedish style, for $65. The massage itself was pretty good. However, there were three significant issues. First, the sheets didn't seem very clean: at a quick glance they looked like they hadn't been washed since the last customer because I saw what looks like droplets of sweat on them, but I'm not certain it wasn't just a stain. Second, the massage table was extremely uncomfortable: the hole that I stuck my head in was too small, or otherwise improperly shaped, such that my head didn't fit into it cleanly, and I had to constantly move my head around to shift the pressure from one part to another part (I've never experienced anything like this on other massage tables I've laid down on). Third, when it was over, I paid the $65 for the massage via venmo, and then before I could reach down to my wallet to grab cash for a tip, she asked something about tip (not really sure what she said), and I proceeded to hand her a $10 bill, but she got really angry and made a face and muttered something, so I gave her another $10 bill, and then she calmed down and let me go. So that's a 30% tip. I've only had a few massages in my life, but this was easily the worst experience. I highly recommend you don't come to this place, and instead go to one of the other million massage places in the area. They're easy enough to find. read more

First time here, after reading reviews and it being in Kensington, I expected more. Really wanted a relaxing massage after a stressful day. The woman who gave me the massage wasn't very relaxing, her vibe was awkward and her movements were not soothing. Not long strokes but quick and somewhat haphazard. The room was cold, after she used warm towels to wipe me down, i was freezing. Then when paying, the price stated on the for- she added an additional amount. i did not feel she deserved a 20% tip. So I paid less and she was upset and huffed and called to the male/manager? I told him the massage was mediocre and I didnt want to tip 20%. He was gracious. But she was pissed. Not sure I'd return and not sure i could recommend, unless there was a different massager. read more

Amazing, two hour massage! Massage therapist Jenny found knots I didn't even know I had. The first 75 minutes was a deep, comprehensive back body massage--shoulders, spine, hips, legs--deep tissue. Jenny has strong and skilled hands! Last 45 minutes included a head and scalp massage followed by an incredible, long foot massage. I left feeling so relaxed and taken care of. My son gifted me with a 90-minute massage from Anna's spa for my birthday. I called and scheduled a 90-min massage and it was scheduled for the following day. I should have asked them to make sure they had my name and phone number (they didn't ask, they told me that the time I requested was available). The next day, I show up at 11:00 for my 90-min massage and presented them with my certificate. Everything was going well but 45 min into my massage, the owner (?) or manager, who is male, entered the room (no knock) and started to have a conversation with my masseuse (who apologized but kept talking). After a few minutes, he exited the room and my masseuse asked if I understood Chinese. I said "no" and she explained that I was booked for a 60-min massage and the person who scheduled a massage at noon was there was was "in a hurry". I couldn't believe it. She then rushed through the remainder of the massage, I mean rushed it, so she could make the other appointment. She said that they would give me another 30 min massage of my choice to make up for the inconvenience but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I doubt that I will return to claim my 30 min. *addendum: I think I understand why my massage was cut short. My son purchased the massage and included the tip but apparently it was not the 30% tip they expected, it was 20%. When he checked me in he referenced the tip amount which I thought was strange. I would rather pay more upfront than be strong armed into giving a 30% tip off the bat. Despite the owner saying that they don't force you or obligate you to tip that high, they actually do. Very disappointing. Will not return. **update: the owner chastising me for my review saying that I did not specify that I wanted 90 minutes is basically calling me a liar. I don't appreciate being called a liar. I know exactly what I asked for and I brought in the certificate and the original receipt to show that it had been paid for and when I checked in said I was there for my 90-minute appointment that I scheduled the day prior. This is a non apology and very unfortunate. I recommend you reconsider your business practices and how you respond to reviews that are less than five stars. read more

I've gone there twice when my regular massage person was unavailable. Each was a one hour massage. They are great! I didn't ask their names (both women), and we didn't talk, other than me responding to questions and instructions. I walked out each time feeling infinitely better than when I walked. The one today was prompted by considerable stress-related epigastric pain. Now, two hours later, the pain has reduced to mild discomfort, which was exactly what I wanted and expected. Weird experience. I would not return to this massage parlor, nor recommend it. They pushed me to tip before the massage started. Actually before even showing me into the room. What they do is upsell people on 2 hour massage. Masseuse even ran out of the room with no warning, mid-massage, when a potential new customer came in. I lay there listening to the whole insistent sales pitch as the door was ajar. Sure enough the newcomer got upsold for the 2 hour package. My "frozen shoulder" massage was supposedly to target that area. I have pain, and specifically asked for gentler pressure. The masseuse would not respond to my repeated feedback that he was hurting me. I know different styles exist, but I had bruises covering both arms and the top of my back afterward that lasted for days. I did tip since sometimes places like that will chase you if they think the tip isnt big enough, and I didnt want to deal. It was worth it to get out of that building. read more

I really wanted to have a great experience here, but it was very "so-so". I will start with the booking process: I called in and got someone with a VERY THICK accent I found hard to understand. I thought I had booked a massage with a female masseuse, but the person ended up being a man. I rolled with it instead of getting dressed and waiting another 30 minutes. The gentleman was very polite and had great draping technique though the pressure was too strong for me. I did share this a couple of times and he told me to let him know if it was too much, but after communicating that a few times it was still rather a lot, and I was not sure he actually understood me. I sensed it was a language barrier. Also, the masseuse did not ask me what sort of massage I was there for, he just started in. It wasn't a bad massage, but it wasn't great. My back muscles still hurt. I share the sentiment (expressed by another reviewer) that the payment process is awkward with a preset tipping amount of 30, 40, and 50 percent (which is ridiculous). I put in an amount that I was comfortable with and what I thought it was worth with the masseuse standing literally OVER me, and he was visibly unhappy and disapproving of the amount, pressuring me to look at the other options. That was very uncomfortable and I did not leave there feeling any sort of "wellness". I will probably try one more time and make sure I get a female masseuse next time, but the gimmick of advertising a super cheap massage and then expecting a 50% tip is distasteful. I felt like I had a meat tenderizer going up one side of me & down the other in the best possible way for alleviation of muscle tension. I really appreciated his attention on my neck crick too. A good price for a two hours massage, but a little peculiar. Therapist used latex gloves on parts of my body, which didn't feel the best, but generally ok. However, when I went to pay and was only going to leave a ten percent tip (I just wasn't impressed), the owner insisted that I leave a twenty percent tip. He wouldn't back down. I flatly insisted that a tip is nothing to be expected, but based on quality of service. He gave the tip to the therapist in front of me. She let out a high insulting laugh. My friend in the next room did not have this experience, so I guess it depends on who you get. I am VERY excited that there is now a massage place in Kensington. Very walkable along the public paths; on the block of businesses including Young's Market, Inn @ Kensington, Liquor store . Both Andy and Anna are very good - esp if you want deep pressure; highly recommend (and I have been to MANY massage places in the area)!
