This guy had a Vrbo property that I rented and then he closed his account on the Vrbo platform and never notified me. I think he's a scammer

The second night the toilet stopped working again. This was not because we did anything, but because, as we were informed, they were waiting on a part to fix it after we left. They offered a late check out but I declined because there was no working toilet. I ended up leaving to find a hotel for me and my friend to stay at due to the toilet not working. We were not informed that they were waiting on a part to fix it until it broke the second night we were there. It took a month and a half of texting and calling to get a manager on the phone to tell me that they would refund me 25% of my stay and that we waited too late in the day to tell them the toilet was broken the second night to have someone to fix it. I wished they let us know the first time they fixed it they were waiting on a part and I could have made other arrangements during the day and enjoyed the rest of my weekend with my out of town friend. Instead, I looked for a hotel in the middle of the night and spent way more money to make sure that I had a working toilet. The place was nice looking and in a very convenient spot. The customer service was lacking once something was wrong.

I booked this property through Hotels.com. The stay itself was fine, but the booking and payment…read moreprocess was not. From the beginning, the host repeatedly contacted me through calls, texts, and emails. Despite Hotels.com clearly advising guests not to make payments or handle communication outside of the platform, the host insisted that I pay a security deposit or a fifty nine dollar waiver in place of a three hundred dollar deposit through external links. This was required before check in. I also received a large number of promotional and reminder emails even after my booking was already confirmed, which made it feel like their system did not properly track reservations. Their intake form collected guest count, adult names, and vehicle information. I entered everything accurately. There is no clear disclosure anywhere about extra fees for unregistered guests. Despite this, after checkout the host attempted to charge my card for additional guest fees. The charge was eventually taken without my authorization, which forced me to file a dispute with my bank. The property is legitimate and the stay itself was not the issue. The issue was the off platform payment pressure, confusing processes, and an unauthorized charge after the stay ended. The way this was handled feels unethical and very sketchy. I would not recommend booking here.

My initial inquiry to Nice'N'Homes occurred through Furnished Finders, as I was relocating to…read moreColumbus for a summer contract. Pri was exceptionally responsive and we were able to complete a virtual walk through of the property before any commitment was made. The virtual walk through went very well and I sent over the deposit to hold the property. However, a week before my arrival I was notified that my property was not available due to a pipe bursting and the water supply being shut off to the property. Pri informed me that he may have another unit available, but it was a bit smaller and he was experiencing issues replacing some of the furniture due to the previous tenant not appropriately maintaining the property. Pri assured me that the property was being professionally cleaned and would be ready for my arrival. Upon my arrival, I discovered this to be furthest from the truth. Immediately upon opening the door I was hit with a pungent smell that assaulted my senses. As I continued to walk around the unit, the disappointment prevailed. The entire unit was filthy and required a substantial amount of cleaning. When I brought my concerns to Pri's attention, he increased the volume of his voice and wanted to refund what I had paid. I asked Pri if we were able to have a cleaner revisit the unit and requested that he cover the one night stay at a hotel. He went on to agree to the one night stay, but later changed his mind stating 'he wasn't running a charity and he could not afford to house me for three months.' He continued to state that it was obvious he couldn't meet my 'level of cleanliness'. At this point, I did not have the time to find another long-term solution and agreed to clean the unit myself, along side my Aunt. After spending $1200 we purchased cleaning supplies including a vacuum, mop, cleaning products, new linens, and a small steam cleaner. We then spent 3 hours cleaning the unit. This cleaning included mopping the floors, cleaning the baseboards, washing walls, and more. It became evident that an animal had soiled the carpeting on the stairs and they needed a deep cleaning. The next day I rented a carpet cleaner from Lowe's, as we soon discovered the small steam cleaner previously purchased wasn't going to sufficiently clean the stairs. I then steam-cleaned the stairs twice with the rented carpet cleaner, which did not resolve the rancid animal smell. The couch was also in disarray, as the sides of the couch were destroyed by a cat and there were cigarette burns on the top of the couch. I removed the couch cushions to wash them and steam cleaned the entire couch. After three days of being hopeful, it became evident that this unit was not livable as the pungent smell continued to permeate throughout the unit. I notified Pri that I was going to vacate the property early and requested that he refund my rent, but did agree to allow him to keep the deposit. This is a warning to anyone who considers utilizing their services in the Columbus area. May the odds be forever in your favor.

Which is good, because the televisions don't work & they'll fix them sometime between now & when you leave. So when no one contacted me about the TV by noon the next day, I used their online chat (all the better for the millennials not to interact with humans) who told me they'd be out in 24-48 hours. 10 minutes later I get a text they're coming by to fix it. Hours later another text. It's fixed, use the large remote. No apology, no gee how can we fix this. Nada. Tonight, all the on-street parking is full so we went to the "convenient self-park nearby" they recommend. IT'S THE F'ING HOSPITAL Stay Alfred Vacation Rentals - Like for people who are sick. Not for your clients. Customer service is hard to reach and impotent. Perhaps an old-school hotel really is still the most reliable way to go. Additionally, the decor is like millennials playing house went shopping at Target. The floors have no sound deadening under the faux-wood, which means the upstairs neighbors who wear concrete shoes to go feed the meter at 6 am (which you will want to do if you don't want a ticket nor to park at the HOSPITAL, SEE ABOVE) and our new upstairs neighbors seem to have square dancing toddlers. Additionally, the building will leave snotty notes on your door that you are not to have any guests in your room who are not on the reservation and spending the night. All in all a pretty sucky experience..

Let me start with the pros: the area is pretty nice, there is metered street parking but it is very…read morecheap and the room was a good size. Now the cons: my room was half cleaned, the cable didn't work in one room and the internet didn't work. I called the virtual "front desk" and they told me there was nothing they could do until the next morning because the local staff had already gone home. They said they would put in a ticket and someone would be out in the morning. When I called in the morning, I was told that they would be there between 10am and 11am. When no one showed, I called again at 11:40am. They said actually it would be between 11am and 3pm because it is based on the cleaning schedule. At this time, they did tell me how to fix the internet, apparently it had not been configured to StayAlfred yet so it was a different internet name. So I called at 3:05pm when no one had arrived. They said actually there was a mistake, someone will be there the next day between 11am and 3pm. I stated well I am scheduled to check out that next day. They said well they typically only scheduled to clean before and after a stay, not daily, as they are not a hotel so I should not get them confused with a hotel. I advise them that I was not expecting daily cleaning, just a clean room when I check in. Everyone I spoke to up to this point was less than accommodating or even apologetic. I asked them could I at least be moved to a clean room since they couldn't get anyone out to clean my room. This person transferred me to Sam in reservationists and this was the first nice person I had spoken to! He was so very apologetic and very nice. He said that there were other rooms available but had to be approved by guest services. He said there is a bit of a wait but he would put notes on my account. So he transferred me over, they prompt asked I wanted a call back so I took that. After an hour, I hadn't heard back so I called Guest Services back. They answered and said they could make the change. They said they could but they only available would be a 2 bedroom and I would have to pay the difference. I asked if there was a credit or partial refund that I could receive at the very least that could cover the difference. He said no that anything related to my stay would have to be covered post-visit (even this was not guaranteed) and I would have to pay the difference upfront. So I said okay and he put me on hold. The line disconnected and I called back. When I called back I spoke with Sarah would completed my change. I asked her what is the number to call back for the issues I've had with this visit to call after I've left. She said they could actually handle this now. She looked at my account and she said the notes said someone had already been to my room. I ended up having to tell her the whole story all over again and she read through the notes as well (I'm assuming). She said she could only offer me half off of the first night, which would cover the difference in the room. The StayAlfred customer service is much less than accommodating. I really wish they would have offered me to change rooms from the moment I told them my room was dirty. But I was stuck in a dirty room with no internet and no cable in one room until 5pm the next day, which was half of my stay. Almost I talked to didn't think it was a big deal that my room wasn't clean and one person I talked to said that local team told them the room was clean. No, the bed was made and the detergent was replaced and that was the extent of it. I know this even MORE to be true because the room I was eventually switched to was much cleaner. Trash taken out, bathroom was clean(er), bedrooms were clean(er) and it had trash bags and dishwasher pods. I'm not sure who cleans their rooms and I was told because of the COVID, the cleaning crew was being taught extra measures but there were still a couple stray hairs in the shower of the new room and on the pillows as well. The second bathroom also smelled a bit mildewy but not nearly as bad as my previous room. I was so over it at this point. This was probably this worst time to come here but I am not able to move into my apartment yet so I need a room in-between. I have someone to stay with for a few days and then I have another stay booked (at a different location) for a week. They aren't offering refunds, only credits even during this time. They will refund your money if they can get your room re-rented but people are cancelling their reservations left and right so I would be out of luck. I might as well stay. It was a good price with great reviews. I can't say that this is the standard experience but I did not have a good or even decent experience with their customer service.

We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor, very handsomely appointed in aqua and coffee tones, with silver accents. The room was lovely and very comfortable, both the bedroom and the en suite bathroom. I enjoyed reading a book in the chair by the window. The backyard was another highlight. There is a small deck, a fireplace, an English-style walking garden, and a main seating area with candles and comfortable camp chairs. In warm weather, it's perfect either for unwinding or for extending a gathering at the end of the day. Apparently the proprietor brings food in the morning? I was not awake in time to witness this; perhaps it is the breakfast fairy. In any case, the spread was noteworthy: besides the drinks, snacks, yogurt, fruit, and cereal available around the clock, there were uncooked eggs, miniature bagels, coffee cake or banana bread, and a variety of seasonal fruit. No matter how heterogeneous your group, everyone will find something to satisfy him- or herself. Sometimes it's the little things--such as the rubber duck in the shower stall, the small fish tank on the kitchen counter, and the soft jazz CD playing in the living room on our arrival. There was a basket of highly watchable DVD movies and a shelf of local-interest books. But the important things stand out too: the entire place was immaculate and the proprietors seem to take good care of both the property and the guests. This is a very strong 4.5. Some of our housemates were staying there for the third time, and I would not hesitate to return with them next time.

The kitchen has filtered water from the fridge, keurig coffee, microwave, and dishes. There are snacks like popcorn, crackers, yogurt, and cereal available all day. In the morning, they put out a fresh pastry (different and delicious each day!), toast, beautiful fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. The room had a hair dryer, bar soap, makeup wipes, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. We also had a smart tv so I could log into my own Hulu account. There is a pretty park and lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance, including a major grocery store. Could not have imagined a better place...I wish I lived there!
