We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor, very handsomely appointed in aqua and coffee tones, with silver accents. The room was lovely and very comfortable, both the bedroom and the en suite bathroom. I enjoyed reading a book in the chair by the window. The backyard was another highlight. There is a small deck, a fireplace, an English-style walking garden, and a main seating area with candles and comfortable camp chairs. In warm weather, it's perfect either for unwinding or for extending a gathering at the end of the day. Apparently the proprietor brings food in the morning? I was not awake in time to witness this; perhaps it is the breakfast fairy. In any case, the spread was noteworthy: besides the drinks, snacks, yogurt, fruit, and cereal available around the clock, there were uncooked eggs, miniature bagels, coffee cake or banana bread, and a variety of seasonal fruit. No matter how heterogeneous your group, everyone will find something to satisfy him- or herself. Sometimes it's the little things--such as the rubber duck in the shower stall, the small fish tank on the kitchen counter, and the soft jazz CD playing in the living room on our arrival. There was a basket of highly watchable DVD movies and a shelf of local-interest books. But the important things stand out too: the entire place was immaculate and the proprietors seem to take good care of both the property and the guests. This is a very strong 4.5. Some of our housemates were staying there for the third time, and I would not hesitate to return with them next time.

Points for beauty, for sure. The thing with most B&B's that I've been to is the welcoming/homey feeling. GVGH is literally a home but doesn't have any type of check in table or actual person welcoming you into the establishment. This is actually typically fine by me, as a biz traveler I look for convenience and a low key option to rest my head. So, GVGH's stocked kitchen (homemade yogurt FTW) and impressive breakfast buffet spread was a welcome respite for a sometimes weary and non-social traveler. The home is decorated beautifully and the patio is probably just perfect with warmer weather. I can certainly see all the care in appointing the home and the guest rooms! A few items that I wasn't crazy about: 1) The aforementioned lack of human interaction when it came to welcoming me, check-in/out, etc. I didn't see a soul for the 20 hours I was in and out of here. 2) The locking mechanism on the door gave me trouble from the get-go despite reading their shared Google doc of how-tos a few times over. Said doc was the only item I had to connect me to the property. 3) The first floor room has a half wall shower that drives me bananas. I end up sloshing water everywhere despite trying to stay as close as possible to the shower head. Those three fairly minor items aside, if you're looking for a beautifully decorated but hands-off B&B stay with thoughtful accoutrements, give German Village Guest House a try.

Our stay at this RV park was extremely disappointing due to serious safety concerns, poor…read moremanagement, constant noise issues, and overall lack of cleanliness. The biggest issue involved multiple off-leash dog incidents. While walking my leashed dogs one evening, we were aggressively approached by another dog that was not on a leash. I was able to pick up my smaller dog, but my larger dog had to defend herself. She has never been in a fight before and was simply protecting our pack. This was a dangerous situation that could have easily resulted in serious injury. I reported the incident to Animal Control because dogs roaming off-leash in required leash areas is unacceptable. What made the situation worse was how management handled it. The owner approached my husband and me aggressively, yelling at us to leave immediately and falsely accusing my dog of being the aggressor. She even violently shook our fence and demanded it be removed, despite other campers having fences in place. We were told to move by the next morning in December, despite being in a winterized site, which caused unnecessary stress and cost us a $40 lost deposit for a temporary site. After reviewing security footage, the owner later admitted we had done nothing wrong, but there was no apology or acknowledgment for the false accusations and threats. The park also has a major issue with inconsistent rule enforcement. After we were required to remove our fence, other campers were allowed to keep theirs in place for months. This creates an unfair environment and leaves guests unsure of what rules are actually enforced. Another ongoing issue was the frequent loud music. Music was often played loudly from nearby sites, making it difficult to relax, enjoy the evening, or have any peace at our camper. This happened often enough to become a major frustration during our stay. The condition of the property is also poor. The roads are entirely gravel and filled with potholes, especially near the entrance. When it rains or snow melts, these become large muddy puddles that make walking difficult and can be rough on vehicles. Because this is a small park, smoke from neighboring campers also becomes a problem. Marijuana smoke frequently drifted into our area, making it unpleasant to open windows or sit outside. There were continued safety issues as well, including another camper's unattended dog getting loose and approaching my dogs. The owner didn't even realize their dog had escaped, which only added to the ongoing stress. Cleanliness is another concern. Dog waste is often left around the property, creating unsanitary conditions and obvious health concerns. Overall, while the location may be convenient, the combination of aggressive management, unsafe off-leash dog incidents, loud music, poor maintenance, smoke exposure, and lack of cleanliness made this a very stressful and unpleasant stay. I would strongly encourage pet owners and families to consider these issues before booking.

One the museum, one a log cabin, and the newest (but still 120 year old) houses a B+B and auxiliary museum. We came for the Victorian Christmas event. An old-style Santa, jolly and friendly, was in the log cabin. A roaring fire, period furniture (frontier era,) and docents were also there. A fun experience for Baby K. The museum house is beautifully finished, to a later timescale, perhaps 1860s. In the basement were crafts- ornament and card making, etc. The newer house held more crafts for kids, plus homemade cookies and spiced cider. The volunteers were super friendly and informative. I'll be back another time to spend more time checking out the artifacts when it's less busy.

You can drop by during their short but sweet hours, but personally I suggest bringing some friends and making an appointment. You get more personal attention and you'll be sure to have a lot of fun. Don't forget to leave time for the gift shop... there are some yummies there.

The rooms are clean, the air conditioning works great, free wi-fi, and there's a mini fridge too. They have on-site laundry and microwaves available any time. You can pick a room type that suits your needs (king bed, queen bed, double beds, etc ), and the prices are fair and affordable. Plus they are conveniently located within a very short walking distance of Shell (gas station), Kroger, McDonald's, Taco, Bell, Pizza Hut and so much more. My favorite thing about Hometown is the staff. They are amazing, every single time. Friendly, helpful, understanding, and kind to name a few. I mean, isn't it always nice when someone remembers and calls you by name. Matt and Duane are the two I have had the most encounters with. They are there every day, and take pride in the property and ensuring the guests are happy and comfortable. Both of them are amazing. Other hotels/motels should follow their lead when it comes to customer service. DEFINITELY recommend and will come back myself!

My boyfriend & I were recently in Columbus to visit with his family and had heard about a hidden…read moregem, a little bed & breakfast in his hometown. We decided to give it a shot seeing as how it was in a prime location and you just could not beat the rates when compared to the chain hotels. The following is a review of our stay in this charming accommodation. After a smooth flight from Orlando, we were greeted by our hosts who provide free round trip shuttle service to the local airports. Their adorable dog, a dachshund named Patti, keeps you company on the ride..(here's a tip, she loves to curl up in a travel pillow so if you have one, make sure to share!). When we arrived at the bed & breakfast we unloaded our bags and were led to our room. We had chosen the 'Basement Oasis' room as it was their largest suite complete with full bath and mini bar. There was definitely plenty of room for us to settle in and not feel cramped as you so often do in typical hotel rooms. Everything was meeting our expectations until we opened the media cabinet only to discover that our television had a screen not much larger than my smart phone. Thankfully I had brought my iPad along on the trip or things could have gotten ugly pretty quickly. We unpacked our things and headed upstairs to chat with our hosts before heading out. We were informed that there was an abundance of baked goods for us whenever we were hungry..I highly recommend the apple pie! Our hosts even informed us that they had an extra vehicle for us to borrow if we felt so inclined. Naturally, we took them up on this offer. In return we helped them put up their Christmas tree as a thank you for such a kind gesture. We even offered to cook a meal for some friends & family of theirs and ours..boy, did that guest list get long quickly! It was quite a success and everyone had a lovely time. Our trip was wonderful filled with lots of family time and meeting my boyfriend's nephew who was by far the cutest and best part of the entire trip! On our last day we were met in the morning with a lovely breakfast and a reading of the Christmas story from Good Book. After breakfast we were asked to strip our beds which we felt was an unusual request seeing as how we were their guests but we gladly did so seeing as how kind they had been. We loaded up our bags, exchanged goodbyes & were even given fresh citrus for our flight home. Overall, I would highly recommend this quaint B&B to anyone visiting this area. The hosts have a plethora of ideas for ways to fill your day and don't forget to explore the coupon book for discounts to local eateries! I know we'll be staying here again, so should you!

I use this place in the winter months because they have a running track and don't require a membership that accesses my checking account every month. I pay $79 in cash every December and use the facility until March. The place is kind of old looking and worn in places, but all the equipment is in working order and the pool and steam room are clean.
