He went out of his way to help me find shoes similar to what I'd pair with the suit to get a better feel of how it would look put together. The tailor, Mr.Said, took careful measurements and voila the suit was ready in a couple weeks! And Peter today helped me pick it up. (And he may have a second career as a Yelp cinematographer!) No, Hubs and I I did not know the pricing before walking in. Sticker shock, yes. But the clothes are luxurious, quality milled from Italy. This is an excellent Zegna shop/boutique. Top notch customer service every time--Francesco is the fellow that has been helping me in the past few months/year. They have my sizes on file, which makes it really easy to just pickup a shirt there or reserve online at the store, and then they can easily tailor it to my size without having to put it on in the store every time I visit. I'm a fan of their new Trecapi line because it is more athletic/slim fitting without being too narrow in the chest and shoulders. Minimal tailoring is needed. read more

I wish they had a Zegna store in San Francisco. Yes I'm lazy and sometimes don't feel like driving down to Palo Alto, okay? But for Zegna, I will make an exception. I've always been a fan of Zegna, after feeling the material on a jacket and noticing the weave and attention to detail on them. The Zegna group was one of the first mills in Italy and produces fine wool for designers like Tom Ford and Versace. So if it's good enough for Tom and Versace, it's good enough for me. With that being said, it can be intimidating when you walk into the store - of course the assistants are going to size you up, but when you are in Silicon Valley you can afford to walk into the store with trainers, jeans and a zip up sweater and they will still help you. We had a cashmere silk jacket transferred in from another store to try on. The cashmere silk was soft and needed minor tailoring so it was not a problem getting measured by the tailor for alterations. Jacket was finished in a week, we picked it up and SO was very happy. read more

After a recent move to CA, I began my search for a luxury clothing store that met my taste for clothing. One day I took a walk through the Palo Alto shopping center and came across Ermenegildo Zegna. Not knowing anything about the brand, I walked in just to check it out. To my surprise, much of what they had met the style of clothing I like. The quality and fit of their clothing is exceptional. The gentleman who helped me at first was Phil. He was very welcoming and very helpful in giving me a walkthrough of the store. His attention to detail was fantastic and his suggestions fell in-line with what I liked. Needless to say, I ended up buying a few pieces. Months later, I came back "just to browse" and once again I was greeted by Phil. He remembered my name and what I bought last time. I was shocked because I just showed up unannounced and he remembered me. He asked me how I was liking the clothes and showed me what was new in the boutique. Once again, I found something I liked here and ended up buying a shirt for an upcoming vacation. Overall, the service and staff here (Phil) were very welcoming and made my shopping experience a great one. I am now a Zenga customer for life. ;) read more

I didn't know there was a Zegna store here in the bay until today. I strolled in with a few other friends and was quick to be judged, and not serviced, probably because I was wearing my "day off" clothes. Tsk Tsk. I had a really excited look on my face the whole time because I love the brand and proceeded to look for the so highly coveted tie I thought they would possess. The two gentlemen chillin by the entrance barely engaged me in conversation and the older guy seemed kinda snobby. I asked him about a certain color for a tie and he just told me it's in the back. Wow, great service douchebag. I ended up seeing the tie I wanted but didn't wanna give them my business. I live in Sunnyvale and know that the Nordstrom in Valleyfair carries Zegna ties. Last time I checked though they were out of the one I wanted, yet I know I can shop there and still get someone to order one for me elsewhere. " Are you having a sale", I inquired. " Oh yes" was the reply. " All items from this point to the back of the shop are on sale. They are not marked as such, just deduct 30% from the marked price." I picked out a shirt in the area I thoughts the clerk had indicated, priced at $435, and was chagrined when after an elaborate wrapping process, was presented with the shirt and a $435 plus tax bill. I told the clerk I thought the item was on sale, and was told that specific shirt was not. Being too embarrassed to renig on the sale, I paid the bill and departed. On reflecting back on the incident, I am wondering how many other unsuspecting customers have been sucked into this sham , facilitated by the failure of the store to mark all sale items. Some Zegna suits and casuals looks ok, nothing really compared with Armani brands though. I don't give a 3 star because of my opinions on the style, the inner t-shirts are made of nylon, or some kind of synthetic polymers to give it that tight look. The material really is cheap, not really great for the skin because it traps heat and clogs the pores. Armani's inner shirts gives it that same look, but is mixed of cotton and other synthetic materials. I don't see how people working here loves acting so snobby, I mean seriously, when they compare class, they are not LV or Gucci, can't compare with Armani's style, and can't compare Salvatore's shoes, so I don't see why the associates working can't say that they "don't have a medium sized coat that I wanted", instead of telling me "Zegna only carries this coat in large" I wanted to tell them I have enough money to buy their entire store, but it wouldn't make sense on a business scale, considering there is no profit involved. read more

Our first piece from here was a leather jacket which we purchased around 21 years ago, and glad to say the brand has held its reputation for quality and excellence quite well (the jacket has been holding up great too!) In the quest for something that would make me look half decent for an upcoming wedding, I've learned many fascinating things about men's suits. One fact: Zegna is a major supplier to many of the higher end suit vendors. Armani, Kiton, Brioni, etc..if they use high end wool, it's likely from Zegna. I kept running into this brand and after I while I learned they had their own store. So I trapsed in and told the salesman my needs. He was totally accommodating, gave me excellent advice and walked me from start to finish in what I would need. I really did like one of the suits I finally whittled it down too but in the end, Zegna makes me look a little on the boxy side (I blame my parents for my ridiculously large shoulders) and I had to go with a different brand. This however did not deter them from giving me excellent friendly service. It's good to see vendors like this who make a specific but well crafted product read more

Well, I'm now updating my review now that the store is actually open. First off, I'd like to say that the clothes are absolutely fabulous. You just reach out and touch the materials, and you can tell they are really really high quality. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience there. The salespeople were friendly, and engaging - not snotty at all, unlike some SF stores. They made me feel welcome. The downside? It would seem like Zegna clothing doesn't exactly fit my frame. I'm 6.0 ,175, and even their slimmest line (the silver label) seemed to really billow on me. And to me, it wasn't just the shirts that were squarish, the sweaters, and the suits were that way as well, which was surprising to me coming from a euro clothing company. I was expecting a slimmer fit. I suppose there's always tailoring... Also, the shirts and ties tend to be a bit more conservative - nothing super flashy, but still super elegant. To sum it, good clothes. $$$ clothes. good store. Bad fit for me. read more

If you were ever to get a made to measure suit for your big day, this would be the place to go. That alone should tell you how special my experience at Zegna in Stanford Shopping Center was. PRIOR TO VISITING ZEGNA: The story begins that I rented a suit online from a tailored suit/tux place that guarantees to deliver 1 week prior to your event. They allow alterations to their own suit that you rent at any place of your choosing so that you will be happy with the results should the initial fit not be just right. My fiancé on the other hand purchased a brand new wedding dress at my beckon for her not to get a pre-worn dress (long story there). When she discovered my wedding outfit was a rental, she immediately pointed out the irony that I was so particular about her buying a new dress, and yet I was ok with a rental that I would not see until a week before our wedding! She caught me! I decided an event like our wedding would not be something to be stingy about especially when it comes to presenting myself. I asked around the office, and a wonderful coworker of mine suggested Ermenegildo Zegna. FIRST VISIT TO ZEGNA: When I arrived, I was greeted kindly by a few of the people working there. I made my way straight to the back and was a little bit unsettled by how many options there were. There was a employee that was helping someone that stopped to ask me if I needed anything. He introduced himself as Phil. Moments after helping the other customer, Phil dove straight into my rather complex situation. I needed a suit that fit my description in style and fit within 1-2 weeks. My timeline was tight, my demand list was long, and my standards were very high at this point. Phil and the team at Zegna did not disappoint. I found an amazing suit in the Trofeo material that completely fit the bill. They did not have the size I was looking for exactly so they had to call out to get it along with a few near sizes in case. They took my information and sent out for the suits. SECOND VISIT TO ZEGNA: I received a call from the store indicating the suits had arrived, and that I could come in for a fitting. Unfortunately my schedule and Phil's schedule did not line up, but he left me in the very capable hands of two of his skilled colleagues, Maggie and Anna. When I arrived, they immediately set up the changing room for me with the suit, a new shirt, and even shoes in my size so that they could properly measure me for alterations. Prior to taking measurements, they offered refreshments. They were very attentive to all the details in the fit of the suit. Every tiny bit was discussed between the two of them as they were evaluating each area of the suit and how it looked. With measurements complete, I was due back in exactly 7 days to pick up the suit. FITTING: I received a call from Phil that the suit was ready for my pickup. Unfortunately again, my schedule did not allow me to make it to their store before they closed that night. When I did make it in to the store to get it, to my surprise and pleasure, I was greeted by Anna and Maggie again! Needless to say, the fitting went very well! Maggie gave me some excellent style advice as well regarding color selections for my shoes. I walked out that evening with one of the most amazing suits I have ever owned. Bought a wonderful suit on sale from the store right after the holidays. The prices, especially relative to Saks, Neimans and Wilkes Bashford were tremendous as was the quality and variety of suits and shirts on sale. What really set the experience apart however was the service. Not only was it the best tailoring I've ever received for a suit, they matched shirts and ties to make the outfit come to life. Sweet Jesus, these guys are expensive. I love the line and usually look for it on the sales racks in other stores, so I was curious to see what a dedicated store would be like. Even though it's a small store, it still took me almost ten minutes to be assisted...there's usually only one person working at any one time. Loved the ties and bags, but settled on an Italian knit polo for an emergency prezzie. It was one of the least expensive things in the store, but I still had to shell out $185. read more

I was given a beautiful Zegna belt last year as a gift. I have looked up the price of said belt and found it to be near $300.00 ! In that year the buckle dislodged from the leather strap ( at least one other work associate complained of the the same issue). I emailed Zegna in NY, and was asked to submit a receipt and pictures of the belt. As it was a gift, I did not have the receipt or gift receipt. I explained that to the customer service email address ( no name given). Their remedy to the situation was to send me the name & address of a repairman/person in NY or NJ, to have it repaired at no cost to them. I have owned belts that cost well under $100.00 ( $30-$40), all leather, mostly all over 10-15 years old, with not a single issue. I was stunned and disappointed at Zegna's response. The brand, the name associated with luxury is all well and good but standing behind the quality and durability is where a reputation begins. read more

A bit rude and dismissive but two stars cause I made the mistake to buy a suit without trying on pants. I came in for alterations and noted that they didn't fit at all & there'd be a lot of tailoring. I know from experience it's better to buy more off rack than altering to fit. There was a strong push to just deal and go forward which would mean a suit that isn't warn. I walked out and in the hopes that another Zegna store would be more helpful. read more

Opened...Opened...Opened I did not stampede anyone and did not leave spittle on the merchandise but I have a lust driven experience at that store! I must say that I love Zegna, Cucinelli and Loro Piana the most because you must command the fabric before you can command the artistry that comes from it. When you are in this type of store you don't need a salesperson to suggest and prod, you simply need to be told how the layout is conceived and "where are the coats in my size." The young man who helped me was courteous and attentive, slightly less knowledgeable about the product line than myself but nevertheless a plus to my first experience at this store chock full of goodies. There is a sale going on and I will find a way to get that grey peak lapel suit I tried on. I could tell that the clothing was taken from other locations carrying Zegna. They had a good sampling of everything they make. One thing I did miss was the Zegna offering of underwear and sleepwear... That reminds me, I need to call and see if they have the new v-neck undershirts in the shiny new cotton. read more

Zegna is a great brand, and I own quite a few suits made by them. The shopping experience they offer is usually terrific, and pretty uniform across the world, from what I've experienced in Seoul, Singapore, Mumbai, Paris, and New York. The Palo Alto store is an unfortunate departure from this tradition. I recently went to get a suit altered. Once the sales associate figured out I wassn't going to buy something new, he handed me off to another person, who did the same. The third person I dealt with could barely bring himself to be civil, and eventually called the tailor, while offering all sorts of explanations as to why alteration was a bad idea. The tailor took one look and agreed to the alteration. The sales associate couldn't wait to get rid of me after writing the ticket and charging for the alteration. The unfortunate part is that had they treated me well, they could have talked me into making a purchase, because I've been meaning to buy something new for Fall. I'll go to another Zegna boutique, not this one. The Palo Alto boutique: snooty people, terrible service. Can (but I suspect will not) do much better. read more

First off: this is not your run-of-the-mill men's fashion store. This is as awesome as it gets. Styles straight from Italy, books of fabrics, in-house tailoring, incredibly knowledgeable staff, and a huge collection considering the size of the store. This is where CEOs go to look good. This is where you go to buy a suit to get married in. The people who staff this store are not just looking to make a sale. They are looking to make long-term clients. When you are a client, you're treated right. When you're some shmuck coming in with your dirty shoes to flip the ties and check the price of everything, don't expect to get treated like a client. The first time I came here I needed a suit for an interview. My fashion expert friend told me to go nowhere but here, so here I came. Maggie helped me out. She asked me what kind of interview it was, all the right questions. She suggested I not rush it and just buy a simple $100 blazer (somewhere else) before I put $3000 into a suit. When I had the time, of course I made sure to come back when she was there (they're commission! and human beings!) to buy the suit for reals. She spent several hours with me trying on nearly every pair of shoes in the store and maybe half of the ties in my color preference. After a bit of tailoring (the tailor was totally awesome as well), I have a head-turning suit that feels like silk (obviously it's wool), and a really eye-catching tie while still being conservative enough for my profession. The short: highly recommended if you have the money for it and want to look the best you possibly can in a suit. And if you want a good, honest opinion that isn't afraid to tell you to wait or go against the grain, ask for Maggie! :) She's the bomb. read more

The quality of cloth is excellent. The pieces are just beautiful. And the service is nothing but exemplary. Peter, Serge & John have been amazing. When the store opened 2 yrs ago, I took Serge's business card and after 2 yrs I decided to buy a shirt. He and Peter helped me pick a shirt and since then the relationship has been excellent. I can find the same pieces at other stores but the service makes the difference and the alterations have been accurate. read more

My rating is based on the Zegna line and not this particular store. I will update after an actual visit. I believe the store is opening today. Wilkes Bashford carried Zegna a few years ago perhaps they dropped the line when they found out that there was going to be a store at Stanford. I don't know if the Stanford store is company-owned or a franchised unit. I love Zegna for the quality of the fabrics and construction - especially suits from the Couture line (formerly Napoli Couture). Zegna just happens to be perfect for my body type. Hugo Boss doesn't work for me. Also I'm a reverse snob in that I like how Zegna is relatively unknown as compared to Armani, Polo (Black Label), et al. I also like Zegna ties for the subtle twist in their interpretation of classic patterns. Keep in mind that all the designers had different lines of different quality as well as different design points. read more

I am a huge fan of Ermenegildo Zegna clothing. This review concerns the retail store at Stanford Shopping Center. I keep going by the store but end up buying most of my Zegna clothing at other retailers. The sales personnel here are the most snobby and unhelpful I have seen in any retailer. I went by for the sale today and the salesman treated me dismissively. "All we have is what is on display." He made no effort to make a sale by finding items in my size that weren't on display, such as by checking other stores. I then found exactly what I wanted online. I have visited this store at least 10 times, and I've had similar dismissive treatment at least 3/4 of the time. read more

be careful to see the price tag before purchasing. I picked out a really cool dress shirt thinking it was going to cost $200 or $300. The material was super soft and when I put the shirt on definitely stood out and felt like no other dress shirt that I wore my entire life. It was the Couture collection of Zegna.
