Word of warning don't go within a 1/2 hr. of closing or you will be told you are rude and inconsiderate, at least that is what was the staff thinks. it was really great until you have contact with the staff. I have been coming to Zeb's for for many years. My parents taking me as a child and I am now taking my children there for their very over priced candy...but hey it's the experience. Although arriving 25 minutes before they closed on a Saturday night we were confused as to why the closed sign was up. Thinking maybe it was due to limiting people in the store I tried to knock on the window to get an attendants attention, who was standing right at the doorway, the rude person smacked the closed sign and walked away. Hey Zeb's you think you could teach some politeness to your staff! Post a sign as to why you are closed? A simple explanation probably would have helped the many people who walked by and were confused as to why you weren't letting people in 25 minutes before your close time. My wife and I just drove 1.5h to Zeb's to pick up fruit slice candies for her dad as it is his birthday and they are his favorite. He informed us that he was coming up from Ohio early to spend his birthday evening with us (was supposed to come this weekend), so we immediately checked the closing time, saw that we could make it before closing and be back right before his arrival. We arrived at 5:40 (they close at 6) and one of the women who works there (older blonde in a pink sweatshirt) was just holding the door shut. She wouldn't even look at us and locked the door in our faces. It was incredibly rude. When she came outside to grab signs, we nicely told her that we had driven all this way to get the one thing for my wife's dad's birthday, and she was nasty and told us that they open at 9am the next day. Thank you for making us waste 3 hours, for your rudeness, and for keeping us from surprising a 67 year old man with his favorite candy after he drove up from Ohio to visit his kids on his birthday. It would have been one thing if you had had the common courtesy to tell us that you are closing early because you are at capacity, but no, you couldn't even do that. I've worked in the service industry, and I know that customers can be a pain, but I have never treated someone with such disrespect, and can't think of many times when I've been treated that poorly. My wife's mother grew up in North Conway, and Zeb's has always been a destination when the family is all together. Today definitely ended that. read more

Wow! If you're in North Conway definitely check out Zeb's. My husband use to visit North Conway with his family when he was a kid. All I kept hearing was "Zeb's" "Zeb's" "Zeb's". And I was thinking what's so good about Zeb's? Answer: The feeling of the store is like a blast from the past. It has North Conway apparel to yummy treats and sweets. We bought a whole case of cream soda which is so tasty. On our trip we fell in love with the Raspberry Lime Rickey. The lemonade reminds me of summer. I think you get the point...the drinks are good. Their BBQ sauce is delicious. We bought blueberry butter it's so good on toast. And not to mention the maple butter was to die for. This is a must see if you're in North Conway! read more

Zeb's General Store is a great place to find gift items and other cool stuff in North Conway. This store has many different and unique items that you will definitely not find anywhere else. I like how the store is layed out and organized so they are able to fit so many items in a small space. You can spend more than an hour looking at everything and there will be at least one item that you can buy for someone you are looking to buy a gift for. There were several items that I could not resist purchasing and I was able to leave with a lot of cool things for a good value. The staff here is very cool and plentiful as there seems to be someone everywhere helping out, but especially at the checkout line where they had more than enough help to keep the line moving. read more

This place is seriously wild! Located in the heart of the city, Zeb's is located in a busy street where tons of tourists are dropped off to pick up little trinkets and souvenirs from New Hampshire. But what they don't know is the variety of all the unique gifts you can purchase from around the area. From food to stuffed animals, Zeb's can hypnotize any customer as if they were in an old fashion country store for the first time. I purchased some fun items to take home and would have bought more but didn't have enough room. The "Moxie" t-shirt which is a soft drink made in New England to old fashion jawbreakers were a big hit. The store has two stores and you can easily spend an hours worth looking at all the fun stuff to tell your friends and family about. They have an antique car outside their store with a huge stuffed animal bear in front. I would highly recommend this place to pick up a few interesting gifts that deserves a place in your nostalgic memory. read more

Fantastic! If you've ever been to the Vermont Country Store, this reminds me of a much smaller version of it. Tons of great stuff packed into two floors in quaint North Conway's Main Street. Overwhelming sight of country goodies located in North Conway, a quaint town. They have 2 levels of anything you can think of! Old tyme candies and chocolates, local maple syrup, wall of popcorn, jams, cookies, pickles in a barrel, and much more. It smells amazing of sweets and soaps. Staff is friendly, eager to assist. We purchased Zeb's barreled sour pickle, Coastal Maine Popcorn Chocolate Caramel and Sea Salt, and Jumbo English Toffee. The pickle was over-brined. The popcorn was stale and the nuts on the toffee were stale, as if sitting out for weeks. They have so much inventory, and it looks appetizing, but the volume they have must not turnover enough even though they attract many visitors. Nice stop when you travel between NH and ME. Just be sure of the quality of your purchase. read more

Holy smokes- this candy store is HEAVEN! My boyfriend and I always stop here multiple times whenever we travel up near North Conway. This cute old times candy store has everything you could desire, a 15 or so foot candy counter stuffed with all types of candy, some that I even order and pay lots of mo eu for on the internet to have shipped to me like satellite wafers. There's also maple syrup, hot sauces, popcorn, candied bugs, soda, and a cute hone food section with handmade soaps and a Christmas section upstairs with ornaments and all the holiday fixins. Although usually packed in like sardines, Zebs was much more spacious then usual with safe distancing put in place. With the maze like aisles and candy counter - the six feet standard wasn't always exactly upheld but the staff was trying their best to space people out, put direction arrows on the floor, and zebs was allowing a certain number of people inside. I have included a picture of the line outdoors where people were waiting in mud and through a slight drizzle to enter the store. I did not get pictures from inside but I do know I went into a sugar crazed frenzy and purchased 50 dollars worth of candy. Wish I had taken more pictures for you all! I will keep going here and waiting in the rain and the cold to enter this candy store and I hope you get to try it out!! read more

Dropped in at Zeb's while spending a weekend in North Conway and I have to say that we loved this store. This shop is larger than it seems and it is packed with a ton of different items ranging from foods to home decor peices. We wandered this shop for over an hour and had to be forced out when it was time for our dinner reservation. Some of our favorite parts of the store were their Christmas section which had an old time sound machine (don't know the technical name) playing "My Heart Will Go On" as well as their foods area. Overall, the experience was phenomenal and we encourage everyone to visit this shop if in the area. I doubt that you will be dissapointed. read more

A fun place to while away a day or two. Zebs is packed, floor to ceiling with interesting products and foods. The second floor has toys, Christmas themed items, pet gifts, jewelry and lots more. On the first floor is a huge candy counter with lots of the old time favorites, as well as fudge, huge handmade chocolates, a 3 pound gummy bear, jaw breakers, etc. They have an interesting selection of house label sodas and other Northern New England brews. There are plenty of food gifts, an entire room dedicated to soaps, a barrel of sour pickles-what's not to love? They can be a bit pricy, but some of the products you can only find here or are very difficult to find. Your on vacation, spend a little! read more

I'll start by saying that our family used to love visiting Zeb's. It was always the stop on vacation where our boys would stock up on candy and souvenirs for our family back home. This year we took friends of ours and got everyone excited. When we walked in the woman at the door started to give her speech about the flow of the store and our friends' son made a loud-ish sound. The woman stopped and very loudly (and in a super deep voice) shouted "listen to what I'm saying!" It startled all of us. We let it slide but then my friend went back to apologize/explain the situation to the woman (not that she even had to apologize). The rest of the convo went like this: Friend: "I'm sorry, my son is on the spectrum and didn't mean... Woman (interrupting): "yeah, I realized that right after I said that" Friend nodded and started to walk away Woman continuing (verbatim): "but I am not going to apologize for doing my job." (Then started to say something about how she used to be a teacher). Friend: "well you must not have been a very nice one." Woman: "welcome to New Hampshire!" We were so taken aback and in that moment wanted to say a million different things. We decided actions spoke louder than words and 9 guaranteed customers walked right out of that store. This was me and my family's first time visiting the store. We were all so excited, especially the kids, knowing there is a candy counter. We entered the store, and because of covid, they had a pretty decent system. I was there with 2 other families and their children, with a total of 5 kids. When we approached the candy counter the kids were so excited. Unfortunately, the woman behind the counter, who I am almost certain her name is Ann, was less than thrilled to deal with us. In fact, she was rolling her eyes, totally rude and did not treat these children nice at all. It was awful. I need to add, our kids aren't perfect, but they are considerate, kind to others and say please and thank you. They absolutely did not deserve to be treated like that. I should have said something but I really wanted the kids to have a nice experience and didn't want to make the situation worse. My husband stood back and watched the entire time. He said he will never step foot in that store again because of what he witnessed. But truly, this woman, should stay in the back, away from people and especially children. read more

Very disappointed. My family from NY was here for a trip to Story Land. I was excited to take my grand nephews to Zeb's for candy. We went to dinner and arrived at 7:45. I told the kids they would need to make it quick. We went to the door and it was already locked and closed. The girl inside said they had too many people in the store and were now closed. Really? The hours say closing at 8 pm and before that time they turned away customers., crazy in this economy. They are leaving first thing in the morning so no money will be spent at Zeb's. read more

This is just a great throwback general store. They have a vintage coke fountain and all kinds of coke gear. Thousands of very unique products. The staff is always polite. They have a great selection of candy,sauces and syrup. Really too much to list . It's tight in there. They have two floors of great stuff. Fantastic recreation of a time ago. Tour buses even unload out front. It is great to see they have a wheelchair ramp for those who need it to get in and enjoy part of the store. I wish they had a way for the disabled to enjoy the second floor also. A lot of the people on the tour bus were elderly with walkers and canes. They don't get the full enjoyment of the store. The place was built in the 1990s . It could have been done . But they might not have forecasted their success. I loved the whole store. Just wish all could. read more

LOVE Zeb's! I've been at least 10 times and it's always a treat & you always see something new & fun. You could easily roam around for an hour or more, which you would not expect from a "General Store". I had an incredible experience with most of the staff at Zeb's, but this one employee named Kristin was screaming at me, a CUSTOMER, another foreign customer showing she's extremely racist, and her COWORKERS which i found extremely disrespectful.
