Whatever you do, do not get your lashes done here!!!!!! She was on the phone the whole entire time talking in a chinese to her husband and she poked my head and cut my head With her tool. She glued my lashes together and in clumps and to my skin I'm in so much pain I had to go to another salon for them to try and get some of the lashes unstuck from all the glue and my skin. My right eye is so painful and irritated it even hurts to close it, the other salon said they have never seen such a hack job and she literally glued several of my regular eyelashes to one fake one with huge clumps of glue so its constantly pulling at the roots and my eye hurts so bad. They can't remove the glue for a week because it so close to my skin so I have to deal with this pain until then. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! read more

While the manicurist was nice enough, and did an ok job, I was 15 minutes early for my appointment at 3:30, but was not seen until exactly four. I was thanked for waiting, and I humbly replied that I understand it was busy, but at the same time, while their time is valuable for them, my time is equally valuable to me. The manicurist, who did not introduce herself, say hello, or try to make any conversation with me besides telling me to "wash my hands", which she was stern in her tone the second time because I couldn't hear her the first time, and to tell me to call next time because their online appointment thing doesn't connect to the store, or something? Unfortunately, if you allow appointments to be scheduled that way, it is on you to ensure that it either works promptly, works accordingly, or not allow it at all. When I finally was seated by a nice gentleman at the counter to my seat at the manicurist table, when the gentlelady came over And thanked me for my patience, I said that I understood and that it was my first time for a manicure-she said nothing, all while working on two clients at once. Is that a thing? Why even seat me if you're going to split time between two clients, inevitably taking time away from themselves and I? I see acute cuticle buildup still on three fingers. I also noticed that when other clients were given the option for nail polish color, why wasn't I? I sure hope it wasn't because I was a man, and all the other clients were women, or identified as such. Does also it take only 12 minutes for a manicure? Because while I was seated right at four, I was done by 4:12. The place was clean, and organized. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like I had a good customer experience here. If I could give no stars, I would!!! Had a appointment at 11:30am for a wax. I showed the owner my Groupon and he said "Give it at the end." So 15 minutes go by and still did'nt get seen. Was brought into a room, that had wax and dirty towels on it. The pillow was used and dirty. The woman came in and had to change the paper on the table, as it was used by the person before me. Had to wait about 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, with a very cold & unwelcoming staff. Wax was wicked hot, process was pretty painful, and bedside manner wasn't rude, but wasn't plush, either. The esthetician did her job, but she double dipped, didn't use any baby powder till the very end, and kept reusing the same removal strip every time. The manicure is fine. The salon is disgusting. I got a gel manicure. When I put my hand in to UV light the surface was slimy and grimy. The plastic partician between manicurist and me was filthy. I love Zazas. It's a big salon with plenty of seats and even special ones for your children. The pricing is average. The pedicure is $27 with a hot towel and scrub which is not bad. The manicure is much simpler but is only around $13 here. They have a medium sized selection of polish and takes walk ins. Just remember they don't take tip on a card. It's unfortunate but just try to remember to bring some cash if you go here. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR EYE LASHES DONE HERE!!!!! They glued them to my eye lids. Not my eye lashes. She let the glue leak into my eyes the entire time and it burned like hell. My eyes are all swollen and she used a shit load of glue that I can't get off!!! I have even tried to go to a salon and have them professionally removed and they could not remove them. A chunk has fallen off and taken my real eye lashes with it. $80 may seem like a deal, but now I have an eye infection and I'm missing a chunk of my real lashes. Trying to be as objective as possible about this place, because normally they are alright at being pretty standard. Got manicures with my sister here yesterday. Waited too long for chairs next to each other, never got an update from the staff. Finally seated us at chairs separate and were baffled when I asked us to be together. Quickly found us neighboring stations and began work. My manicurist had her phone constantly going off on the desk, wore one latex glove, (despite my telling her I had a latex sensitivity) and did a shoddy job on a standard gel manicure. The curing machine was malfunctioning and rather than grab another she continued to allow me to twitch and shift till I found the right position. This resulted in uneven curing which I will include a photo of. I picked a light OPI shade which is now blemished because this particular technician couldn't be bothered to swap out the equipment? Not to mention the bubbles she created through an improper painting technique. I am particular about my nails, but not unreasonable and these are pretty bad. If I were not only here visiting, I would return to the salon for removal and refund. Luckily it was my manicure not my sister's as she got engaged later that night. The first time I went, my skin felt raw and sensitive after the wax so I asked for powder the next time. This should be common practice!! The chair on which you lay is also very dirty. And she does not cover the whole chair with the sanitary paper, only your butt up to your head. There is also no towel to cover yourself as you lie there and wait for her to come into the room after you have stripped. I live around the area and received a giftcard to Zaza nails. I will admit that the 1 and 5 stars reviews gave me mixed feelings before going into the nail salon. I stopped in for a gel manicure with a nail technician. I specified that I wanted "squoval" nails and picked out a nail color. When she finished filing my nails and applied the nail color on the first nail, she asked whether I was satisfied with the nail shape and color. She was extremely efficient and quick. I never write reviews. I work in the industry where customer service is important. When I first when to za za I was obsessed - I told everyone about it. Over the past two months it has gone completely down hill. I have only a little time each month to get my nails done. It's supposed to be relaxing and fun, a reward after working two full time jobs. I asked the tech for squared nails- not paying attention - and I look down and I was horrified! Half my nails were squared, slanted different ways and some rounded- it looked like my 4 year old niece had done them! Then she got up and left me sitting there for 20 minutes. OH MY GOD. I live in Stoneham and have been faithfully going to Gloss in Melrose for many years. They're so successful, you must book an appointment 3-6 days ahead of time. I couldn't get an appointment so I thought I would try Zaza for a second time... I went once before about 9 months ago and it wasn't clean, my service was extremely rushed and each nail was crooked. I now know there is no chipped manicure and no availability at Gloss to get me to EVER set foot in Zaza again. It all started when I walked in, I said I had just called for a gel manicure appointment. The same woman that did my nails last fall looked at me, rolled her eyes and told me to choose a color. I sat down and the towel was covered in dirty nail trimmings. She asked to see my hands and I refused. I asked if she was going to change the towel. She whipped the towel up, flinging the dirty clippings all over the stations, at me and the floor. Then she folded the same towel down to the station. I asked if she was going to get a clean towel. Here's the best part.... "YOU EXPECT A NEW TOWEL EACH TIME?!?!?!?!" She stands up, huffing and gets a clean towel. I should have left right then. She scoured my nails down to nothing to remove the existing gel polish. My nails were on fire and throbbing and she kept ferociously filing away despite my discomfort. The nail file was so old & dull, it was like trying to cut steak with a spoon... She engaged in some unprofessional and rude small talk. She said "you have never been here" yes, I have. "I forget you." Okay, great thanks for making me feel welcome in your nail saw dust cess pool nail salon. Anyway, she filed my nails down to such a short length that they're tender and each one is crooked. I asked to keep the length of my nails. I washed my hands, got a good look at them and tapped out before polish. She is furious that I'm leaving. She says $10, $13... $18. I didn't even care. I paid & gave a 20% tip. She walks away without anything to say. Also- a woman walked in for her appointment and they said refused her. There were two technicians watching tv... I was so confused. We came in after a long work week asking for a "Spa Pedicure" with an extra massage. We were rudely told NO and that they were busy and had a group of 8 coming in at 3:30. I have been going here for about 9 month and LOVE IT! The staff is very friendly. The salon is clean and has a great atmosphere. The thing I like best about Zaza is that if you are in the mood for a long relaxing pedicure they will spend time and effort to give you that. Seriously think my 5 year old niece could have done a better job. He didn't take his time and was very shaky. He also didn't make my nails any shape or trim them to just be one size. Worst Brazilian wax experience of my life...I stupidly got a groupon for it, big mistake. The room felt unsanitary, she doubled dipped the stick repeatedly (hopefully the next person wasn't getting their face done lol), didn't use any powder, and barely spoke to me at all - hence why I don't even know her name! Then at the end she didn't give me anything to clean the wax residue off - it was so painful and sticky I literally cried in my car after and had to walk into to CVS like that to buy oil. On top of the bad experience, they charged me an additional $10 for the "extra areas" like that's what a Brazilian is? The whole thing? Only nail salon I trust with my nails. I only go to Megan because she knows me by now. I love that I can come here and she knows the colors I like and how to shape my nails. I have acrylics that I do shellac color over. She's good with suggesting colors. I love getting a Pedi from here as well. Detailed job and never hurts me. The salon has a great selection of colors, OPI, Essie and Shellac colors. Also, the salon is very clean and has a spa like vibe. Also sometimes when your nails are drying they give you a complimentary neck/shoulder rub- which is amazing :) P.S. Cash only for tip! read more
