There is no better nail salon in the Melrose/Wakefield/Stoneham area and trust me, I have tried just about all of them! I, my sister, and my mother are all regulars at Gloss and since converting from other salons in the area, we refuse to go any where else! My sister and I drive from downtown Boston to go back to Gloss again and again. My Linh is the owner with her husaband and is the sweetest! All of the technitions are great - you really can't go wrong booking with any of them. We prefer My Linh, her sister (Lynn), Mimi or Cindy. I've left the salon with shellac manicures staring my fingers because they were shaped and painted so perfectly. The herbal pedicure is TO DIE FOR, complete with hot stone massage and amazing smelling herbal water, scrub, lotion and oil. Seriously, no pedicure compares. The salon is beautiful and bright with white walls. Absolutely no issues with cleanliness - it's spotless from floor to ceiling. We love the pedicure couch/bench and actually prefer that with some cozy pillows than the typical messaging pedicure chairs that most places offer. And a complimentary Diet Coke with your pedi? Yes please! Gloss has a ton of nail polish and shellac options, and they are willing to get creative with festive holiday nails or funk colors or sparkles if you're in the mood. I like that they have OPI, Essie and Zoya colors to choose from. The salon feels like a spa inside, and is a peaceful retreat. I LOVE that there isn't TV blaring in the background or music, and none of the technitions talk over one another or amongst eachother while working on your hands or feet. They are all extremely professional and kind. Jennifer, the receptionist at the front desk, is so friendly and bubbly and always works hard to squeeze me in for an appointment with the technition I ask for (and do make your appointment in advance via phone or through the online booking portal). Not only is this place GORGEOUS! White, crisp, clean, sleek, modern looking, yet not so much that if feels cold. On the contrary, the atmosphere at Gloss is one of complete harmony. The layout and design are superb with subtle relaxing music in the background. The folks at Gloss are TOP NOTCH and very professional! I was so impressed with their commitment to the health of their clients with medical grade autoclaves and cleanliness procedures unlike I've ever seen in the Boston area. I've been going to Gloss every two weeks since I moved to Melrose a few years ago. I'm totally hooked on gel manicures and thankfully the owner, My, believes my skin shouldn't have to suffer for that - she doesn't use the UV lights to cure the gel which is amazing! I used to wear special UV gloves with finger holes to protect my hands as much as possible but no one wants skin cancer on their finger tips just to get a manicure, right? So thank goodness they are thoughtful about that at Gloss. While that might be the biggest plus, it's certainly not the only one! The environment is fabulous and relaxing. All the technicians are great. They have TONS of colors! They also don't perform services that need to use smelly chemicals. All in all, great place to go! read more

Let me start by saying I honestly can't say enough positive things about Gloss. I've been to a number of salon on the North Shore and Gloss is by the far best. The design and cleanliness of the spa are unrivaled. But more importantly, the technicians are the best. I have a standing biweekly appointment for a gel manicure. Earlier in the summer I broke a nail and destroying the gel; I called Gloss and they were able to squeeze me in, allowing me to attend the evening's wedding with a perfect manicure. Had the Herbal Spa Pedicure and a Shellac manicure with Eva - hands down the best pedicure I have ever had (and I am a total pedicure junkie and very critical of them!) She did not leave a single piece of dead skin on my feet and the massage was to die for. The Shellac manicure was also right up there with every other one I have ever had. The only thing that I would change was getting a herbal spa manicure next time. The entire place was spotless, everyone was super friendly and helpful and there was absolutely no typical nail salon smells - the only thing I coould smell was my cutomized foot cream! My friend and I had a 10am appt for a mani/ pedi. We were greeted by the recpionist and she showed us where the restroom was and where all of our choices of colors were. They have soooo many!! Then we were greeted by our re technicians. The pedi was very relaxing and she did a fabulous job on my feet! Then came the mani; she did fab job there as well!! This place was clean and well comfortable w/ the pedi area. I will go back again. The parking wasn't to bad either. Very pleased with Gloss Spa. I've visited several times and each time it has been a good experience. The salon is clean, bright and well-maintained. There are tons of colors to choose from and the herbal spa pedicure is 40 minutes of pure bliss. Connie takes very good care of my toes for me and is always friendly, pleasant and happy. The receptionist always greets me by name and the prices are reasonable. The pedicure stations are very comfortable with overstuffed pillows and padded benches. Parking can be a bit tricky at times so allow a few extra minutes to find a spot. I highly recommend Gloss Spa. read more

The customer service is warm and professional which makes the experience of going here quite pleasurable. Every time I go to gloss to get my eyebrows done they do an amazing job. Weeks later I'm still admiring how they came out and I can't wait to go back for another appointment. Trish is very personable, as usual. I've been to other salons for a pedi if our schedules don't work and I can't hold off any longer or if a friend is paying for mine. But they NEVER do the amazing job that Trish does. Not to mention, she is the ONLY one who takes care of my two ingrown toenails without me even having to say something. I was there couple days ago and get my nails filled and a pedicure. They charge me way to much and its not even done in a nice job. The pedicure take so long and no massage or vibration in my back which was terrible, and my back hurts after sitting up straight the whole time. Seems like the girl just know how to do nail. No experience, and with that high price range is not worth it. I will not going back there. read more

The place was to me is an okay. Feel like i'm in a hospital and not a warm atmoshere. The girl cut my cuticle twice and cause bleeding and she's keep cutting my cutticle which is not professional at all. Please be aware if there's any unsantize implements can cause HIV. read more
