This is by far the cleanest, best run nail salon I've ever been to. The owner, My, not only gets to know her customers and clientele, she's very personable, professional, flexible and accommodating. Her staff is welcoming and friendly. They all carry themselves with professionalism and class. There have been times in the past few years, that I've been traveling and tried other salons with friends whom have coordinated mani's and pedi's elsewhere. The salon does a great job for nail health; however, the cleanliness can be improved. It does not appear they have staff focused on the tidiness throughout the day and the technicians are expected to maintain the cleanliness in addition to their packed schedule. I have been coming to Gloss for 10 years but unfortunately, I do not think I will be back. Their polishes seem old and outdated. Even with a gel manicure and not doing anything to cause damage, I have chips in my nails after 3-4 days. Hours after my gel manicure, I could already feel it lifting off my nails when I ran my hand through my hair and had scratches on one of my nails. Definitely could have used more drying time but they were rushing. Online, it says it's a 35 minute manicure but I had paid and left after 24 minutes. I also had a lot of polish on my skin and cuticles, which hardened and I could not get off myself without ruining the whole nail. I expected my nail tech to fix the polish on my skin. These manicures are not durable like they used to be. I used to love Gloss for a thorough manicure but now it is rushed and mediocre at best. read more

Super friendly, clean, upbeat environment. Pedi was lovely and polish was flawless. Also got a Gel mani. Only 4 stars because after one week the color started to lift. I've had Gels last 3 good weeks before so this was disappointing especially because there was nothing I did to start the lifting/peeling process. Great service, very clean and the nail techs do a great job. However, for me, the only negative is that pedicures consist of sitting on a bench propped up by pillows with your feet resting in a tub of water. I love the place but miss sitting in a massage chair while having my feet massaged by water jets. read more

My boyfriend and I came in on a Saturday morning with appointments booked a week in advance. I was really looking forward to this all week until we got there and waited at the desk to check in for 10 minutes. We were ignored by 2 employees then someone finally acknowledged us and said the lady would be back. 5 minutes later she returns. No apology for waiting just "can I help you?" We checked in and took a seat as requested. This is our first time here so we had no idea where to go, where to hang up our coats, or where I can pick out my gel polish. We sit down and no one calls us until until 10 minutes later. Here I am holding onto my coat headed to the pedicure station/bench. Little did I know these weren't individual seats unlike the main hare station so I couldn't put my jacket on the back of my chair. I asked my nail tech where I can hang up my jacket, she said no. Ok so here I am holding it on my lap. My boyfriends nail technician on the other hand walks him to the coat closet and hangs his up. My nail technician didn't say a single word to me besides no, but I was ok with it because she probably didn't know English. There was no music so we felt like we could barley speak to one another even though we got to sit next to each other. There is not much space in between clients. I felt really close to the girl on my right who had her bags and magazines all over the bench. This was definitely not an hour pedicure. Not enough soak time. Literally soaked for 2 minutes and she requested for me to take my feet out. For $40 gel pedicure- I expected more. Just because she was late doesn't mean I should be penalized for time I paid for. Lastly the polish chipped in 3 days. The polish was on my cuticles. She did an awful job cleaning up the excess off before putting the LED light over my toes. My boyfriend thought his nail tech did an okay job though, but we definitely will not be back. read more

But she insisted that the dip shouldn't have chipped, she seemed very curt with me. Didn't love the attitude. Service was not adequate for what I paid. Great spot for a pedicure & manicure! I made an appointment ahead of time and went in for an herbal pedicure (I chose papaya). It was very relaxing and smelt amazing! The technician was very attentive to me and friendly. I loved how it came out and they had tons of variety when it came to color (although the bottles were pretty sticky and are in need of a cleaning). I was so relaxed and very happy with the service. They do a great job here and the salon is very relaxing and calming - all white furniture and lots of plush pillows. The only negative here is there was hair all over the floor, chairs, pillows, and couches in the salon and it was really lacking in terms of cleanliness when it came to their couches, chairs, etc. as well (lots of stains on the couch and white pads for your feet and the sinks didn't look that clean...)the tools were definitely sanitary and clean, but the couches and chairs were filthy and stained - they're definitely in need of professional cleaners for their couches and chairs. Love it here and can't wait to come back! I needed a mani/pedi for my wedding - normally, I would have played it extremely safe and gone to Miniluxe, but it was inconvenient so I tried out Gloss. I was extremely apprehensive going into it because it was for my wedding and I was trying out a place that was new to me. Gloss did a phenomenal job. They were incredibly kind, helped me pick out shades for my mani and pedi, expertly gave recommendations when I was looking for certain colors (Essie Sugar Daddy, Ballet Slippers) and even managed to located my favorite shade (OPI Bubble Bath) in both gel for my mani and regular polish for my pedi. They also painted a few different shades on each fingernail and toenail to try it out - I wouldn't normally be so high-maintenance but since it was my wedding wanted to make sure I wasn't accidentally picking out hot pink polish. (Yes, I definitely tipped more because they went out of their way for me to make sure I was set for my wedding). The mani and pedi were impeccable. Also loved the ambience - I've never found a nail salon in the Boston area that had the same fun vibe as the ones in San Francisco, so it was nice to get a mani/pedi in such a fun and also super clean environment. read more

Been there three times and all three i was extremely satisfied. I only do Gel Mani or Pedi because my nails chip often, and they do the closest to the cuticle that I've seen. I think they might be trained just to work here because all three were super careful and thorough, specially with the cuticle removal. I went there for a pedicure. The technician did a terrible job when removing the cuticles which took her only like 3 minutes for both feet then took the devices and left. I asked her to come back and finish the job properly and apparently she didn't like that fact and kept on asking in a rude manner what was wrong with it. I am 8 months pregnant so I had to bend over multiple times to show what was wrong with her dirty job. When I went to pay the owner of the place who also happens to work at the reception did not bother asking what was wrong with the service when I asked not to assign same technician to me next time.She seemed very rude too. Very sweet staff and my gel polish has stayed on really well! I also received a pedicure and they took great care in helping to gently remove a hangnail that I had. Only con is the seating; you get pedicures on a long bench that isn't very comfortable and my water wasn't very warm.
