Dane did an outstanding job with my mani and pedi. This was my first time here and she was patient and gentle and I ended up super pleased with both. To be honest, I was a little struck by the prices mostly because I'm used to cheaper in my former neighborhood. But I would say you get what you pay for. Don't come here for nail art. I've given them so many chances- at least 5 and I've left unhappy every time. I know that's on me that I've kept going back, but my friend always leaves here with lovely nail art and I am an optimist. I'm a firm believer that if a customer comes with an idea you don't feel comfortable doing you should say sorry I can't do that. I asked for flowers, showed the black and white rphoto, and got off center dots like I did when I was 12. I came home and repainted better with my left hand. Paid $50 and am livid. Below average with everything- end product of nails and especially with scheduling and organization of the owner, Kate. Even if you call ahead to try to be courteous and flexible to their schedule, when you come at the time Kate said, she will gaslight you by saying she said a different time, and then make you wait an additional 20+ minutes. Pedicures are mid. Even if you pay for the extra 5 or 10 minute massage, there is zero pressure and they just rub lotion lightly on your shin until your skin is raw with no actual massage on your calf muscle. Take the T and go to a different salon in Malden or Boston. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Made an appointment for my mother and I on Tuesday and spoke with a receptionist who did not know her own booking system. Didn't ask for a name or anything. When we got to the appointment we had to wait 30 minutes before even being spoken to. Receptionist went to bathroom and flirted with another customer before paying attention to either of us. I decided to go home as I had another appointment. The receptionist accused me of lying but I had a screenshot proving that I did call, she then told my mother not to be rude without even being seen by an actual nail tech. Really upsetting since we had gone so much in the past, but not shocking that their younger generation of customers has gotten fed up with the experience at Pampered. I travel all the way from Boxford to Melrose to get my nails done. The first thing that won me over is she uses the clippers for your cuticles with dip, instead of the drill. I have been seeing Dao at Pampered Nails for the last year and I can honestly say that she is the best nail technician I have ever been to! She is meticulous with her work and truly takes the time to make sure your nails are perfectly shaped and colored. My pedicures last at least 3 weeks and I have been getting the powder dip on my finger nails and they also last at least 3 weeks without any chips or cracks! She also gives an amazing facial and she's the only one I trust for my eye brow wax. You can tell that Dao really enjoys her job and doesn't rush you out like some other salons I have been to. The review score is because 4 of my nails have broken SO low, into my nail plate. The manicurist had filed down the sides of my natural nails as part of the shaping which I'd never had done before? Wanted to give this place a try after my friend recommended it and an appointment with the same lady she had been going to. I walked in and told her I had a gel appointment and was told to pick a color. I was helped by a different woman than who my appointment was supposed to be with. All of the swatches were just in the corner everywhere and I wasn't told which were gel or dip until I was struggling for a bit. When I decided on a color she couldn't find it so I had to pick another which is no problem. Her tools were not sanitized and her gloves were from a previous client since they had some left over gel on them. Sadly she wasn't really as attentive to my nails as I would've liked and got gel on my skin, underneath making my nails stick to my skin. I really wanted this place to be great and I was sadly disappointed. Crowded when I arrived. Unfriendly, felt very rushed. Made an appointment the week before with a specific tech, whom I did not get. Tech was nice enough, but not careful or precise. Didn't trim cuticles. I have clear polish stuck on my skin and one of my nails is bleeding. Never washed my hands between coats, or at all. I left with powder mixed into the hand lotion. I love this nail salon I have been going here for the past year and actually drive 30 mins to get here. The only negative thing I have to say is that i usually always have to wait even with an appointment. I made an appointment for 12:15 and wasn't taken till 12:45. However, This post is specifically to say Joanne is an amazing nail tech. She takes her time as if your nails are her nails. Anddd she's constantly sanitizing her tools. Went as a walk in first appt two weeks prior, and the service was good and passable enough to make me go back since I can no longer make it to my regular salon. Called for a next day appointment with the same tech I had the first time and they said no problem. I arrived for my appointment early and the girl I was booked with JUST GOT UP AND LEFT!! I got another tech for the pedicure and just decided it wasn't worth mentioning. In the middle of my pedi another tech comes over to start wrapping my fingers, which is not unheard of. She was the one who apparently was going to do my nails, but the truly weird part was it was being done at the same time as the pedi with nothing but a towel covered pillow on my lap to put my hands on! I wouldn't mind any of this if my nails actually looked good, but NOPE! She missed polishing parts of nails, left them sharp and ragged, and a few are bubbling, like the polish didn't cure. I've been to many nail salons and this is one of the worst. It's so dark, it looks closed when you arrive. You won't be greeted in a friendly manner and the woman who did my nails was very pushy. That's usually fine with me but only if you do a great job. She kept squeezing the s**t out of my fingers even though I asked her SEVERAL TIMES TO STOP!! She just kept right on squeezing and twisting my fingers ways they weren't meant to be twisted. Maybe I'm a baby but my fingers were sore for the rest of the day. The color and gel itself looked BEAUTIFUL but my nails looked like they already needed a fill after I left the place even though that's what I flippin went for.
