This salon was just what I needed right before a wedding. They took me as a last minute appointment and did a dip manicure with tips and a regular pedicure. They took their time on the dip nails shaping and smoothing them so they were the right thickness and shape. Everyone who works there was very nice, and there was nice relaxing music playing the whole time. read more

The manicure/pedicure combo for $38 is a good deal and the quality and attention to detail was excellent. The interior is organized, well taken care of, and relaxing in a small-town way. It is obvious that the owners take care of their business. It's always frustrating when a nail technician rushes through and makes what could be a relaxing experience tense. The woman who did my nails was just the opposite -- calm and careful and relaxed the whole time. I went for a sunny bright color combo and am very happy every time I look at my nails, especially since they remind me of the neighborly nail place I now know is nearby! read more

I had a completely horrible experience here and won't be coming back. I've actually only ever had my nails professionally done for the first time a few weeks ago, and that place had given me acrylics. Because I don't ever get my nails done in actual salons, I had no idea that you're supposed to tell them to remove them when you book the appointment. I totally understand now that that was my mistake, but the way it was handled was rude and unprofessional. The owner basically yelled at me in front of another customer about it, and I felt bad because I obviously don't want to waste anyone's time, but it was an honest mistake. Then it got worse. When it was time for the acrylic removal she angrily took the nail buffer and filed the acrylics off, to the point where I started actually having pain because she actually started getting down to the skin UNDER my nails. Just imagine how painful that is. I nearly walked out but I decided to just put up with it. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the man who did my nails was super gentle and really nice, and he did a good job. The prices are also reasonable, but now my nails are wrecked because the owner was mad at me. Absolutely will not be going back. read more

Simple, quick, lots of color options, and reliable!! They use the best top coat that makes the regular polish look like gel. Very accommodating with schedule and called back when someone cancelled because I had wanted to be seen earlier. She was also considerate to have me take out my change to pay before we started so I wouldn't accidentally scratch my mani fumbling around after we were done! read more

First time at Helen's Nails. Really friendly and great customer service. I told my nail technician that the nail file tickles me and he had a magic technique that didn't tickle at all! Got a gel mani and reg pedi here and I was wow'ed. V detailed and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. I felt the TLC from the manicurist! I was really happy with my nails and how they turned out. The environment is relaxing along with the great massaging chairs. It eased my back pain, was just what I needed today! One of the customers was so relaxed she left without her shoes LOL. came back 5 mins later to get them.. everyone laughed so hard.. The place is clean and small yet personable. Pink walls with nail pics on the walls. Price is reasonable. I'd suggest they have a members card, those go 10 x get 1 free type of deals to keep customers coming back, but they really have no need the way they take care of their clients. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised. Will be back again and taking my mom with me too! read more

I just moved to North Cambridge a couple weeks ago and have been looking for an affordable, high quality nail salon. I tried Helen Nails this afternoon and couldn't be more excited. I got a gel manicure and was pleasantly surprised at the price - $25. My manicurist was polite, helpful, and patient - especially as I was choosing a color! Even recommending OPI instead of other color brands because it would last longer. She was meticulous at making sure my nails were filed and painted to perfection. I'm excited to come back again soon! The salon itself is small - 3 pedicure chairs and 3 nail stations. I was luckily able to walk in on a Sunday afternoon with no wait, but I would recommend calling ahead for an appointment. A few customers called while I was there - they are honest and diligent about their appointment system to make sure you are seen on time! Overall, I highly recommend Helen Nail's to anyone looking for a great quality manicure at a great price. read more

My wife and I got pedicures and they were fantastic! The sugar scrub and lotion massage included in the basic pedicure both felt amazing. Everyone was really considerate, asking if the foot bath water temperature was ok and offering us bottled water. They did a really careful job cutting our nails and cuticles and putting on the polish. Our nails look fabulous! It's a tiny place with only three pedicure chairs, but the price is great and the service is excellent! read more

Take it from someone who has walked up and down Mass Ave a gajillion times, Helen Nails blows their competition out of the water (and there's a lot of 'em). Their cozy little shop has tons of personality and is very well kept. It is a little small -- there's only three pedicure chairs and three work tables, but it's quality over quantity. Coming from Florida, the cold weather definitely weakened my nails a bit and they were in pretty terrible shape. Helen was having a $30 mani/pedi special going on, so I took advantage of it. When I arrived, both Helen and Winnie were very welcoming. Since I was the only one there, they worked on me at the same time and they did a great job! Helen cleaned up my nails and cuticles and made my hands look human again; the hand massage was pretty nice too. The design I asked for also looked okay; it was simple and pretty -- not the best I've ever seen, but nice. Winnie did a great job on my spa pedicure; they felt relaxed and brand new when she was done with them. Their tools and materials were all very clean; they sterilized all their tools and used one-time use nail files, buffers, and pumice stones. It's not always necessary to use those kinds of materials, but as a nail technician/specialist, that's something I appreciate. Price-wise, they're fair and reasonable. So, all in all, I'll definitely be back! read more

Update: I just got back from getting a mani/pedi and I'm so happy with the results! Also, the best pedicure I think I've ever gotten! The massages that they do are so nice. Love this place! ________________________ Went here on a early Friday afternoon and had a great experience. I got a regular manicure and the woman doing my nails was very thorough even when 3 people came in without appointments. There were also two times where the nail polish was either too thick or got damaged and instead of finding a quick fix, she took of the polish entirely and redid it. My only con is that there are definitely not enough tables or pedicure seats. They get a lot of customers and will definitely have returning clients, including me. read more

Been here a few times now and every time I've gone, I've been so happy with the results. They do amazing gel manicure, pedicure, and brows. Their work is never rushed, they actually take the time. I was here about two years ago when I was visiting my sister. We both went today. This is by far one of the best pedicures I've ever had. The place is very clean, the staff are very friendly and their work is meticulous! If I still lived in Arlington, I'd go every month. I haven't found any place as good and as reasonably priced as Helen's Nails. read more

I called on a Saturday morning trying to get an appointment and they took me in an hour after opening! The man who did my nails was very thorough and I appreciated his patience. I came to get my acrylic nails removed and a gel manicure. When he was removing my acrylic nails he was very gentle and kept soaking my nails to make sure the glue was loose enough. When he did my gel manicure with French tips you could tell he was paying great attention to detail and making sure that each nail was even compared to my other nails. The woman in charge did not even charge me for removing my acrylic nails, which was very kind but I of course repaid that price in tip! I am definitely coming back for their wonderful service! read more

Moved to the area recently and came to yelp to find a nail salon nearby... so glad I came across Helen Nails! I went today for a manicure and spa pedicure, and have to say it was one of the best pedicures I've ever had. The gentleman that did my nails was professional and paid a ton of attention to detail. LOVE THIS PLACE! Definitely recommended if you want your nails to last a while. I frequently come here to get a gel manicure and it will last me so much longer and does not chip or come off. Helens husband does the best manis (btw). He is very detailed and takes his time without rushing. The staff is super sweet, and the setting of the salon is very appealing/comfy. My sister and I have come here for sister dates a couple times. We make appointments for pedicures to insure that they are ready for us when we arrive and so that we can get the pedicures done at the same time. Everyone there is super nice, and I was impressed by how long my polish lasted. It sounds like their gel manis are good, so I'll be going there hopefully today to get one in preparation for a trip! read more

I needed a specific color of Shellac for a wedding and this was the only place that had it. The place is very small, but clean (the health board visited while I was there, and they passed). I was disappointed with the job I received. The polish had bubbles in places and was streaky in others. She rubbed my foot so hard that it took skin off and was very painful/bruised for a few days. This my first time going to this salon. Ascetically the salon isn't much to look at but that doesn't really matter in the long run. I came in for a mani/pedi and was immediately sat down despite it being a holiday weekend. You know that thing that salons do when they are trying to pump out as many people as possible so they do your mani while your in the pedi chair? Hate that. My mani was rushed and a bit sloppy because of it and already chipped my pedi an hour after I left the salon. I'm hoping this was an outlier visit and will try it out again. But a little disappointed since it got such great reviews. read more

Okay, so I love that there are obviously planted reviews, with locations like Hong Kong. But honestly, this is just a little business trying to make it. The English of the woman who did my manicure was poor, the manicure not that much better. The polish did last a long, long time though. But she was so sweet, and her husband came by to ask if I would like bottled water, or he could get me anything. During the promotion, the price was a great deal, so I crazy over-tipped. When I did so, the manicurist was sooo appreciative. I would never get my nails done here for a special event, but if you want kind people, look no further. read more

Over time, however, it felt like the management style, particularly at the ownership level, shifted. Communication became inconsistent, and situations that once would have been handled directly and professionally were not. This was not reflective of the front desk team. Many of the therapists I connected with moved on. My most recent experience simply was not the right fit. I did not feel fully heard, and the session felt more rushed than mindful. After the session, there was no follow up or check in at all, which has never happened in any of my previous experiences here. I was tired of bouncing around, so I gave it time to see if things might improve. In the end, she agreed it was not the right fit. What was most disappointing was how it was handled. It took several calls, emails, and texts from me to learn that my sessions had been canceled less than 24 hours before my next appointment. The front desk told me the owner was supposed to call me about the cancellations and to suggest an alternative therapist, but that call never happened, and there was no follow up afterward. There was also a brief moment that stood out. I had left more than 20 percent, though less than the week before because the experience felt different. When I shared that, it was suggested that the front desk might not have passed the full amount along. That surprised me, as the front desk team has always been consistently kind, professional, and trustworthy. I want to be clear that the front desk staff are excellent. They make scheduling seamless, communicate thoughtfully, and create a welcoming environment every time you walk in. I am writing this because I cared about this place. I used to genuinely look forward to coming here. Moving on feels like losing something familiar, almost like losing a friend. I would still welcome a one on one conversation with the owner, as I would have appreciated that before. I hope the practice finds its way back to what once made it so special.
