I've b been going to Gloss in and off for over ten years. Unfortunately I haven't found the service to be very consistent maybe because that's because I'm not a "regular"customer. Overall salon is clean and staff is friendly but this past visits gel manicure is already chipping away after only 5 days, I would expect that of a regular manicure but not gel that's why I pay extra so that it will last longer. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

I got a Nift certificate to try this place and it was really nice! The salon is big, open and clean. It almost feels like they have more space than they're utilizing but I honestly didn't mind it since most salons are cramped. My nail technician was very friendly (I got a pedi) and the pedicure area was clean and easy to access. The whole pedicure took about 30 minutes or so which was on the quicker side, but my nails came out great! It was a really basic pedicure and the PRICE was awesome. Gloss has probably the cheapest prices around! That was a total plus. I deducted a star because if you're looking for something fancy like dip powder, they don't do that. I'm not even sure they do gel, but they do have dazzle dry. But for a quick mani pedi with friends on a budget, this place rocks. Also, street parking is a pain but there are residential streets nearby you can park on. read more

I am not a regular salon-goer and consider having my nails done to be a real treat; after a particularly rough few months, I booked a gel mani at Gloss and it was such a lovely experience. I wish I could remember my technician's name but she was kind and gentle, and my nails looked excellent. I've come back about 3 times since for a pick me up and haven't been disappointed. I tend to be pretty quiet during haircuts/manicures/etc. and I've never once felt out of place for being that way here. My gel manicures last well over a week and are symmetrical (even when my actual nails and cuticles are a mess!) I keep my nails pretty short and they still look great. Thanks Gloss! read more

Loved this place! I've been wanting to try this place out for awhile because it looked super feminine and pretty and I like getting pampered in pretty places. I went with two other people and I love places that let you book online because having to call and try to make reservations with more than one person is such a hassle, I don't bother doing it. Booking online was straightforward and easy (I booked a week and a half out), lots of availability and no guesswork. I booked a pedicure. Our appointments were for 11:15 AM, and it's on a main street, so we went earlier as we thought it might be difficult to find parking. We didn't have trouble at all and arrived with 15 minutes to spare. Once inside, we checked in, it was pretty busy, but we were able to find seats in the seating area. They offered us beverages and were very attentive. Once they came for us, my nail tech, Connie, was very nice. The pedicure area was super comfortable. We chatted a bit, and she was very meticulous. Once done, she brought me to the dryer area, and I accidentally tripped and smudged three toes. I felt awful having to ask if she could redo them, but she was very nice and didn't show any signs of annoyance. I had to wait for my friends to finish with their services, but afterward, I asked them what they thought and they all liked the services they received. I believe they had Ali and Hannah. Overall, the place is very pretty, services were great, and I found the prices to be reasonable. My friends and I are already planning to come back! read more

I have had good luck in the past here but today was truly one of the worst manicures and pedicures I have ever received. I will not go back. Also, the nail polish all seemed old / almost empty bottles and the furniture is definitely 'worn'. Maybe this is a 'has been' place. read more

Two stars are even too generous. I recently moved to the area and took the high rating as a good sign. The work space looks nice but the staff does not run on par with the physical appearance. I asked for a gel manicure and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The technician didn't remove all of the polish from a previous manicure and disregarded my request for shape. The technician sitting next to her must have been off of work and was using the equipment so that the technician working on my nails had to go to another table to get another uv dryer. The top coat immediately peeled off. I called the salon and requested to speak with a manager to have my services refunded and was told it could not be done. After continued pressing, I emailed photos of the nails and was refunded for my services. Overall, unprofessional, terrible work and a waste of time and money. read more

I needed to get my nails done & was referred by a friend to go to Gloss. I called about an hour in advanced to see if they had any open spot & lucky they did. I went on Friday November 6 at 12 to get gel manicure and a regular pedicure. Parking was easy to find & I didn't need to pay for the meter. When I got there the woman at the front desk greeted me with a smile & told me it would be a few minutes & that I should choose my color. They have a variety of different colors for gel & regular nail polish. Within 5 minutes of being there Nancy greeted me and told me she would be taking care of me. Nancy noticed I had chosen two different colors. She told me that they carries the gel color in the regular nail polish!!!! Which was great because I tried matching colors & couldn't find any that matched. The atmosphere of this place was so peaceful & relaxing. I visited Gloss for the first time this week and it lived up to my high expectations! I made my pedicure appointment through their website with no problems. I was taken right on time after looking through their huge collection of both regular and gel polish. Na was so sweet and did an amazing job - already re-booked with her!! I'm writing this review 8 minutes before I was scheduled to be finished with my appointment. It took me a few to walk back to my car and to take photos and I waited longer than advised to dry. Clearly, my first issue is that the services felt incredibly rushed. I was done 20 minutes prior to the time I'd been booked for. I scheduled online for a Dazzle mani/pedi. That process was very easy and user friendly. I'm out of town, knew I was going to have a tough morning of meetings and wanted to relax and have a little pampering. I don't feel pampered at all. I entered a couple of minutes early, maybe 5, so I could check in and choose a color. The reception was warm and friendly. The color selection is vast and well rounded but I felt very in the way immediately as the technicians are also trying to use that space too. I was taken back to the pedicure area first, which was out of order for what I scheduled but it's not an issue at all because I had to have gel soaked off. The pedi couldn't have taken more than 30 minutes...it was booked for 40. Same experience with the manicure. Very little care taken for precision, a little clean up after made it tidy but I've painted my own nails cleaner. My thumbs are pocked and chunky looking...I haven't even taken a close look at my feet. I just feel all and all disappointed. It's a very steady salon but there wasn't a wait nor did it look like there was any shortage of staff so I genuinely don't know why I was so rushed and left so messy. After moving a bit further out of Boston, I was worried about finding a good nail salon. I go consistently every 2 weeks for a gel manicure and I've never been disappointed. Most of their gel is OPI, they don't have any Essie gel polish. The owner is great, and greets you by name. I've had good manicures with everyone I've seen, but my go-to's are Mimi & Morandy. I love the convenience of booking online. My friends come from Cambridge & Somerville to come with me to Gloss. I've convinced them it's worth it. read more

First and last time going to this "spa". I was very excited to try this place since it looks so fancy. I am not sure if the girl who did my nails missed or skipped a step when she did my gel but 6 days later my index gel came off after coming out of the shower. As you can see in the picture, I didn't force or picked the color. It just came off, my nail doesn't even look damaged as it look on the rest after removing it myself because I cannot be with one finger unpainted. The staff there are very nice, place looks clean and fancy but I honestly don't think is worth the price, they call it a "spa" but you can't even get a massage while getting your pedicure. I honestly like to pay for the service not only for the looks of the place. I'm giving it 3 stars because they are professional and place looks nice. read more

I've been going here for a while, and recently Lucy gave me the best mani pedi I've had in years! My nails came out perfect! Clean cut, file, edging and paint! I went during Covid, the place is meticulous! They have clear signage, incredibly clean, sanitized and serious about their clientele and staff heath and safety... there are barriers between for manicures as well as masks and distancing, I felt extremely comfortable, and not only that and warm welcome and kind feel was so nice! Everyone was in such a pleasant mood, and super accommodating. They had so many nail options and colors, my nail tech was 5-star for sure! I LOVED the entire experience a million times better than any of the downtown Boston salons I've been to... and my nails are phenomenal; that was a week ago! They look like I got them don yesterday, legit! I came to this place because of a Nift gift certificate and I'll definitely be back. The salon is so beautiful and serene. Just as beautiful as the photos. I was also greeted by name upon entry. In addition to the environment they also did incredible work. I got a gel mani and classic pedi. My pedi is flawless and my gel is super super even. Not a bubble in sight! My tech was Kelly who was super sweet and was really patient with my indecisiveness over three shades of pink. Even as I left they still remembered my name. The only down side is that you can't tip on your card which isn't uncommon for a nail salon but would have been a cherry on top. They do have an ATM on site which I didn't feel great about but was very convenient. All in all, this place was really great. read more

Gloss is amazing- the CLEANEST nail salon you will ever find (they use fresh tools every single time- no dipping them in jars or using frighteningly old nail files). Every time I come in, the owner Mai greets me by name (And I've watched her greet EVERY client that walks in her salon by name. It's amazing), and I always leave there with a smile on my face and a gel mani that ALWAYS lasts 3 weeks at least! I truly am baffled by some of the negative reviews on here! It's not a salon's fault that someone is on their cell phone (Seriously? Maybe ask the person who's on their phone to stop instead of throwing a tantrum and leaving mid pedicure... or maybe ask to be moved further away....). And as for some people saying their manis are too quick... that's literally the main reason I LOVE gloss so much! I don't have to spend an hour and a half here to have a manicure! 30-45 minutes and I can be out the door! The staff is great- Mai, Michael, Karen, Mimi, etc... all very talented, so sweet to talk to and truly know how to take care of their clients.
