I've been going here for a while, and recently Lucy gave me the best mani pedi I've had in years! My nails came out perfect! Clean cut, file, edging and paint! I went during Covid, the place is meticulous! They have clear signage, incredibly clean, sanitized and serious about their clientele and staff heath and safety... there are barriers between for manicures as well as masks and distancing, I felt extremely comfortable, and not only that and warm welcome and kind feel was so nice! Everyone was in such a pleasant mood, and super accommodating. They had so many nail options and colors, my nail tech was 5-star for sure! I LOVED the entire experience a million times better than any of the downtown Boston salons I've been to... and my nails are phenomenal; that was a week ago! They look like I got them don yesterday, legit! Gloss is THE place to go, (almost don't want to share but that wouldn't be fair ;) loving them and can't wait to go back for my next mani-pedi, so glad to have somewhere I can trust!! read more

I have been a handful of times since I live down the street and the staff is usually nice, and the gel manicures usually turn out fine. I had one experience where in the middle of the manicure the gel started peeling off some of my nails before it was even done. Perhaps the nail polish was old, but they did not have another exact color to match (I chose black) so the nails they had to redo were slightly off in color from the others that were already done. She didn't offer to redo all of them. I recently went only to have gel taken off. I had gone to another salon this time, but wanted it taken it off and decided to go to Gloss since it's so close to me. I could tell it was busy when I walked in around 4:30 but when I asked to just have my gel removed, she first had to look at my nails and then asked if I had them done there. I had not. She then said because I was not a customer and they were too busy, she had to turn me away. I don't see what that had to do with anything - she could have just said they were busy and I would have understood, but this response bothered me. If I'm willing to pay to have it removed instead of doing it myself, it shouldn't matter where they were painted. Overall not my favorite nail salon but will go there if I can't get an appointment at my usual salon. read more

I went to Gloss as it had very good reviews online and a colleague of mine recommended it. One of the worst experiences I've had for a "spa". It was awful! Talk about a half-assed job, French nail polish very streaky. No attention to detail at all. HORRIBLE!!! They didn't even take the time for a message on the legs. Pedicure maybe took 35min at most. I wouldn't recommend this place. It was fairly busy in there but If I ever I felt the "time is money" or "get them in, get them out" feeling, it was definitely that feeling there. First and last time, I will never ever go in there again. Nor would I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I almost never get my nails done, but last night I decided to impulse book an appointment online (I love that you can do that - it's super convenient). They had a couple time slots available so I ended up booking the gel mani and herbal pedi. I didn't have to wait at all when I arrived at my appointment time. Super happy with how my nails turned out. The salon was clean and welcoming. Lots of new tabloids to flip through. Rachel did my nails and she was both talented and fun to chat with. I got the lime scent for the herbal pedi and it was such a yummy, bright scent - definitely recommend it. I'll be back to Gloss whenever it is that I decide to treat myself again. I came in for a spa treatment of hands and nails. The lady did a wonderful job with the manicure but the issue was the essential oils! The technician DID NOT dilute the lemongrass and rose essential oils and put SOOO much in the water. I was starting to itch while she was finishing my toes and while I drove home, my feet were on FIRE!! I had to take a shower and rinse off what I could. This is 2 weeks later and IM STILL ITCHY ALL OVER MY BODY NOW. It's so bad that I have now made a doctors appointment to help with the nagging itch... Gloss spa BE SURE YOU DILUTE YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS IF YOU CONTINUE TO PLAN ON USING THEM. Ladies who go to this spa - If your technician uses too much, please tell them to start over.. Head's up: I didn't have any services done. This is THE place for all of you patient partners out there. This isn't one of those kinds of places where your partner has an appointment and you sit reading ancient magazines or run errands. This place is huge and wonderfully decorated. It's spotless and modern and ultra beautiful. It also boasts the best waiting area and nicest staff EVER. My wife was getting her manicure/pedicure, and the owner came up and let me have the PS3 controller. Yes, you read that right, there's a PS3. With video games. And Netflix Streaming. And a flat screen. I watched Spiderman cartoons and played video games while my wife got her nails done. Really, does it get any better? read more

It's been two years, so I thought that I should update my review. Gloss is as fabulous as the day I discovered the salon. Not only does My Linh have the best team on her side, but she has made recent enhancements to her salon. After three years or so, she has finally gotten the drying bar she has always envisioned. Everyone who has done my nails gets a solid A+ (most recently, Mimi and Na). I can't even describe the thoroughness of all these girls. My nails are PERFECT. No flaws. They are here to truly make you feel pampered, and otherwise spoiled. If I could be honest, I'm not entirely in love with the hard chairs. Adorable, white and chic; they aren't all to comfortable. But, that doesn't make me stop loving Gloss. The pedicure room is amazing. Soft cushions and pillows. Hot, bubbling water. Please make sure to spoil yourself once in a while with an Herbal Pedicure. I often choose lavender. With several detoxifying herbs to choose from, this is surely one of the most incredible things that Gloss has to offer. My Linh, you're a such a sweetheart and an amazing local businesswoman. Your passion for this Gloss just shines through. Mai, the owner, is a sweet and humble person who welcomes you into her beautiful salon! Within seconds upon entering through the door, she greets you with something to drink. She has a full professional staff. I had Mimi last night and I believe that this is the BEST manicure that I've ever-ever had in my lifetime. My classic manicure wasn't rushed. It was intricately brushed to true perfection! (But, my fault for scratching the corner of my eye and ruined one of my fingers... oh, well.) Mai researched her products and offers the best top-of-the-line, including the organic, long lasting Zoya polishes. I recommend trying one of these! I'm one who enjoys jets and bubbles in my foot tub. Initially believing that there were no jets, I have been correct by Linh that there are in fact, jets for bubbling sensation! Mai created full menu of pedicures varying from all sorts of rejuvenating and relaxing scents for you to choose from. Believe me, there's a lot to choose from! I seriously need to study this menu. But, it doesn't seem like there could be one bad decision. With all of that being said, I think Gloss could just be an actual Heaven on Earth. I've been searching high and low for a salon in the area that truly makes me happy inside and out. I think I've finally found it! I also need to mention, it's great that they speak English! I had a fabulous experience at Gloss today. This week has been one of the toughest weeks I've faced in a long time. I had experienced a death in the family, a good friend lost his mom, and things have been really stressful for me in general. I decided to treat myself to an herbal pedicure and a standard manicure in order to give my overworked brain a break. Gloss didn't disappoint. The glowing reviews on Yelp were right on the money. The decor is clean, modern, and bright. Lots of white, a beautiful cream on the walls with line design patterns, and soft taupe benches with fluffy pillows for the pedicures. The whole space is surrounded by glass with translucent drawn shades. The very cool thing about the space is that it has a cafe bar of every color of nail polish under the sun. On the flip side of that bar are bar stools with hand and foot drying spaces along the length of the bar. Brilliant design. I picked an OPI nail polish in an elegant shade of pink and another brand of nail polish in a vibrant shade of blue. I was handed a bottle of water as I entered the space and calming and current music was playing in the background. Linh took great care of me throughout the pedicure and manicure. She was really great about walking me through every product she was using, explaining each one's use and purpose. She had magazines at the ready for me as she started work on my calves and feet. What I loved about Linh was that she was a great conversationalist as well as being talented at what she does; I was at ease throughout the entire appointment. This experience was worth every penny I spent, and then some, given my emotional state of mind this past week. I feel at peace, beautiful, and ready to tackle the next couple of days head on. read more

Quite frankly I do not understand the wonderful reviews on this establishment. My boyfriend and I went here prior to a vacation to the DR and I would never return. He had some calluses on his heels and asked that some extra TLC be given to that area. Unfortunately the treatment that was applied started to become quite uncomfortable and began giving his feet a burning feeling. He told the woman that he thought she put too much on and she disregarded the comment. The next day when we arrived in the DR he had painful burn blisters all over his feet. He could not go in the water... at all. Such inexperience and disregard is completely unacceptable. I called the company after our trip and was given the run around until I was finally refunded for his pedicure. The whole experience was completely upsetting. This place tries too hard to be chic and modern and doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable environment. The bench that we sat on while getting our pedicures was quite inconvenient, as I am 5'3" and couldn't sit back and still reach the basin to soak in. Overall this is just not worth it. If you want a great, relaxing, professional looking pedicure go elsewhere. read more

I remember watching the renovations on this place, and thinking that it would never last - like Melrose needed another nail salon. I. Was. Wrong. I've been going to Gloss for gel-manicures for a few months now. The service is always fantastic, the environment chill and relaxed, and the quality of my manicures has been above par. Great color selection for the gel polish, and even more amazing selection for traditional nail colors. Appointments are recommended, but I've often had luck as a walk-in. Prices are standard for the area. Update: It's almost 4 years later, and Gloss is still my regular spot. It's always clean, usually busy, and I always leave happy. read more

I feel so bad giving it bad stars. The place is so nice and they do an AMAZING job on pedicures. They take there time and its SO relaxing. The only problem... the older lady I got. She was super sweet, but avoid her! You'll know who she is. I feel bad saying any of this, but it's only fair for all of you to know. She did take her time on my toes but she did cut me and the color was kinda all over the place. As for the acrylics... I am in so much pain. She clearly shaved my nail way too much. Its unbearable. They came out so bad, I took the nail polish off and tried to file and fix them, but didn't get far because of the pain I'm in. If you want a pedicure or manicure GO HERE! You'll be so relaxed and they are so sweet and good. Just AVOID the older lady. Again, I feel bad saying this because she was so nice, but I hate having bad salon experiences. Oh Em Gee-- I cant believe I havent reviewed Gloss yet. This place is amazing. The service is spot on, the owner is a doll, they decor is chic but not pretentious. I love the spa pedicure, the smells are great and they take their time. I celebrated my bday here with my girlfriends and we brought wine, champagne and some snacks and they were very accommodating (they even gave us glasses so we didnt have to use the plastic cups.) Well, yelpers don't lie. I went to try this place out giving myself a post-Christmas shellac pedicure. I loved the online booking (super convenient). The spa is beautiful, bright and clean. Upon entering I was greeted by my technician, My Linh, who was very nice, courteous and helpful. She took my coat and offered me a drink. The entire place is beautiful to look at. I like the pedicure area, a large, sort of u-shaped bench area in the back, complete with comfortable cushions and pillows. Everything looked very clean, include the pedi sinks. The pedicure My Linh gave me was great. I'm not much of a talker when it comes to salons so she let me read and I let her do her thing. And what a glorious thing it was! Not a speck of polish left anywhere on my toes other than my nails. Everything was smooth again and the finishing massage was longer than I expected and felt so so good. Pricewise, they are much cheaper than I've been used to, going to a well known local "chain" (known for their cleanliness and hygiene). I liked the other place but the prices were so much higher than Gloss. $40 for a shellac pedi? I'm hooked. Needless to say, I've already booked another appt for a herbal manicure and can't wait to try that out. read more

I am writing this review as I'm sitting waiting for my appointment because I'm really early and I am already impressed. Beautiful, bright, welcoming space. New magazines. Diet coke. Comfortable and pretty chair. Tons of colors to choose from. Super polite, well groomed and well dressed staff. So far I am wicked impressed. Please hold while I get my nails did. And I'm back. The best way to describe this place is detail oriented. From the moment my lovely technician, Julia, led me to the pedicure area I felt welcomed, relaxed, and comfortable. There are no massage chairs like in a typical nail salon. It is a long bench with divider pillows and big comfy pillows they set up behind you. Which is fine by me. Personally I find the massage chairs distracting and over rated. She set up a small tray on the bench next to me so I had easy access to my diet coke, my ipod, and my phone. You have an option to choose from a classic pedicure or an herbal one. The herbal one allows you to choose what scents you would like. I went with lavender and it was awesome. They mix a bunch of lotions and potions up in cute little white dishes in keeping with the clean lines and bright white look of the place. The manicure station is completely clear and clean. She brings a few small white dishes over with her and pulls things out of a drawer next to her but the whole feel of it is very calming and uncluttered. A nice, calming, pleasant experience is what I look for in a mani/pedi but not at the expense of the final product and I am happy to report that Julia's handywork is flawless. I couldn't stop looking at my nails because they were so little and square and even and super shiny. It is now 5 days later (yelp had to remind me to finish my review, thanks guys) and they are still pretty much flawless. And I am NOT easy on my nails. Another positive is that it is well priced for what you get. It is more expensive than a run of the mill nail salon but I don't mind paying 5-10 dollars more if I am sure to be really happy with the results. This establishment comes highly recommended by me but I did withold one star for a reason specific to me and most likely many women like me. I'm short. No two ways about it, people. I'm 5 feet tall. So the pedicure tubs were a little low and my feet barely made it in there. Also, the drying stations are tall and have stools to sit at. I had to sit on the very edge of the stool and stretch my legs to fit my feet in the dryer. For me, this is not a deal breaker but it did make me antsy to leave at the end when I was balancing on the edge of a tall stool and trying not to smudge anything. I would have preferred to finish up as comfortably as I had started. But that is literally the only flaw I could find with this joint. I will most definitely be back. read more

I came here two months ago and had the most incredible experience with My Linh. She was personable and did an amazing job with my manicure and pedicure! Today, was a totally different story. I made a last minute appointment yesterday and My Linh was unavailable . I happen to have a job interview on Tuesday and just wanted to get my nails cleaned up! Annie was my technician today. First, she was 10 minutes behind. Instead of still taking her time, she rushed through my manicure and did a horrific job in 21 minutes. I've been home for twenty minutes, three fingers have already chipped and my hands don't even look clean. I am going to have find somewhere to squeeze in another manicure, just to clean up her mess. Terrible terrible job! IF I ever decide to come back, I will be avoiding Annie like the plague. read more

I had never been here before and had a wedding to go to, so I made an appointment for a gel french manicure. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a nice young lady while the guy behind the counter wasn't very friendly at all. The space is nice, so I don't know if it was because there was a wedding party having manis & pedis with drinks, but I felt like I was in the way. My manicurist, who never introduced herself accidentally cut me while cutting my cuticles and I bled and was apologetic (it happens, I get it). After she finished, she quickly took off and the man, who was a bit dismissive before, was now ready to take my money and send me on my way. Maybe I was jaded by the reviews I read that set the bar high on expectations or maybe they were having an "off" day. I might try it again. read more

If IKEA had a nail salon, it would be Gloss. It's modern and chic and minimalist and so pretty inside. Chairs are slippery, but that's ok too. I'm not sitting in them overly long. And? The owners bought an autoclave for sterlization. Awesomesauce. I saw Mai, had the best manicure and pedicure I've ever had. She told me my teeny tiny nails weren't the best shape for my hands, and asked if I could grow them out for two weeks. I agreed. I'm going back tomorrow to see what kind of magic she'll work! Love this place!!! I have been going here ever since I found it on Yelp back in February and have recommended it to all of my friends! Beautifully designed with a relaxing atmosphere and lounge, soft music playing in the background. The staff is highly professional and very friendly. I love all of the technicians except the older lady. I feel terrible about it but the pedicure I got was all over the place...my the nail polish was all over my toes and my nails were cut uneven. The rest of the Team is absolutely GREAT! I have not gotten any of their waxing services but as for nails, my usual is Shellac and I absolutely love it every time! I finally had time for a gel manicure and regular pedi. They did not disappoint! The pedi was thorough and the lady helping me was very attentive (her name escapes me, but I'll try to add it next time!). She then did the gel mani and it was fantastic! She was meticulous but quick too. The mani lasted 2.5 weeks! At that point I took it off, only because of growth. But the best part, why I will return again and again - when I took off the gel (at home), my nails were strong and healthy! They were not brittle and breaking like after most gel manis. I've been here a couple times to get a pedicure and it's been fantastic every time. The receptionist is super nice and welcoming. And the nail technicians are always quick and spot-on. My pedicures last for over a month when I get them done here. The only suggestion I'd make is for them to clean or replace the cushions and chairs because they do show quite a bit of stains and wear and tear. Other than that, I'll still be coming here to get my nails done. read more

Things I love: the brightness inside, clean/modern design, many tables and pedicure tubs, easy online booking, flawless nails that last every time. I love that you can purchase gift certificates online and print! The gel stays on forever and I LOVE the paraffin wax on my hands and feet. I adore this place. Love, love, love. Yelp steered me here today when I decided it was time for me to give Shellac another go. I've gone to three other salons before and had an unpleasant experience with Shellac, but I have a much better feeling about my manicure after leaving Gloss. Gloss is everything a nail salon should be. Bright, clean, modern, and hip. I just wanted to stay and hang out. The owner, My, was super nice and friendly and very helpful. My nail technician Betty was friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable. She was also incredibly thorough and my nails look outstanding. Before I left I made sure to schedule my bridal party appointment for the day before my wedding and My was very accommodating about my large party, and flexible on appointment times. I'm really looking forward to coming back with all my girls and getting pampered before my big day! I went in today for a classic pedicure, nail polish change and a princess manicure for my stepdaughter. We had My Linh and Annie who were both really nice. I was actually 20 minutes late for my appointment (new mom brain) but they were still really accommodating and fit us in. The salon is so clean and I like how it's spacious and you don't feel like you're right next to someone. It's a little pricy but you get what you pay for. Well, I didn't find Tina, but I found her little sister, Lin! (who also worked at Tina's) and now owns Gloss! Prices are little higher than average, but well worth it!
