Tech wasnt wearing gloves, cut my thumb so much it started bleeding, and filed my pointer finger raw, left multiple visible smudges on multiple nails, almost all my nails were painted unevenly and visibly lumpy, so disappointed, and they charge more than other salons but they should really be charging less especially if this is the quality of work they turn out. read more

I had some time to kill while my dogs were being groomed so I googled nail salons near me and found Serena Nails & Spa. I called and they had an appointment right away. I got a spa pedicure and powder dip manicure. I mentioned that I was pressed for time so the person doing the manicure started doing my nails WHILE I WAS HAVING MY PEDICURE! I felt like I was a Queen getting glam! I was a little bit worried that it was a new place but when I arrived it was clean and bright and the women were very friendly. I wish I remembered their names :/. We chatted a little bit and then I put my earbuds in, listened to my book and enjoyed my tea. Both services came out amazing. The price was comparable to other salons. They offered upgraded services but I didn't want anything extra and they were fine with that. Not pushy at all, like some places I have been. My friend and I came in for manicures and pedicures with an appointment, but the experience was very disappointing. My friend had to wait about 40 minutes before they even started her toes, even though we booked ahead. We paid $250 in total for two gel manicures (one with extensions and designs, one French) and one reg andgel pedicures. While trying to send a Venmo tip for my nail artist, my friend's nail tech was watching my phone to see if I would tip her, and after I left, my artist even told my friend, "Your friend didn't tip your artist." Tips are optional, and while I usually do tip generously, being pressured or guilted into it is extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. On top of that, the quality did not match the price. My gel cracked after only two days, and two of my friend's nails completely peeled off after three days. For what we paid, the results should have lasted and looked much better. Overall, the unprofessional behavior and poor quality left me very disappointed. I would not recommend this salon. read more

I love supporting small businesses but this nail salon is making it difficult for me to love or support their business. The manager was so defensive and combative from my experience today. I agree that customers aren't always right (about nails - since we're not all experts) but I sure know when something is painful or when communication was bad; customers are right about their perceived experience and the manager is in no place to discredit that. I. Manicure: The manager jumped in to teach the technician on how to approach my nail. She filed it pretty quickly, then "How's your fingernails?" she asked. I smiled, "good but kinda painful." "That's weird" she said in a tone that disagrees. "Yeah I know, there was a small cut there that got aggravated by the filing" I answered. "No, I didn't see any cuts" she said with strong emphasis on the "no." I tried to hold back the fact that I was unimpressed with her answer, but I ended up saying "just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it's not there and that it's not painful." She laughed as if I was lying about something. She then asked her nail technician who did say she saw it herself. No, the manager didn't apologize. II. Pedicure: The last 4 times I came here, our bill was always higher than what the menu said. We never contested it, until now. And the manager raised her voice and was quickly confrontational. When you're talking to them, it's not just small talk - it might be them selling you something that you didn't agree or don't understand but they're upgrading your service from what you requested - that's why the bill is higher. (Example: They added paraffin wax to my "regular" pedicure. Paraffin wax is NOT even on their menu of services so price was a mystery.) So: make sure communication is clear. Language barrier is one thing, that's ok. But what's not okay is NOT being transparent so that the customer ends up having no choice but to pay the bill. I already anticipate the owner responding to this post in a defensive tone (as she has with most Yelp reviews under 5 stars). We have recommended this establishment to friends in the past, but I can't say I'd recommend it moving forward. The "listed price + add ons that you may not be anticipating, but should pay since we just performed the service" model is a bit dishonest at best and feels borderline predatory. Best of luck to the business and technicians - they really are good at doing nails and increased transparency/ communication is something that can be improved. Until then, I'll personally be looking for services elsewhere. read more

Folks, The last 3 visits were not a great experience: long wait even with appointment, rushed manicure & working on multiple clients at same time, young woman that did my pedicure didn't do a good job & then left me waiting for 30 mins for my mani to do general cleaning, overcharge on my husband's pedi. You folks are pretty expensive & I don't mind paying but not for bad service and bad quality outcomes. At first I gave them a 5 star, then I noticed that they up charge you for things that you don't ask for. Why are you charging me $5.00 to remove dip powder before you apply dip powder. And why are you charging me $10 for cuticle to be cut when I never asked for a dip manicure? Today was my first time here. I was in a rush to find a place after work and when I called them they told me they take walk ins and specialize in dip....say less!! I got there and they had SOOO many different dip options to choose from. They also had a lot of gel colors too. I did have to wait a little bit till I was seen but I didn't mind! My nail artist, Han, did a fantastic job. It was worth the wait! She was super sweet and I could tell she was detailed (I.e. some salons don't care when the dip powder gets under the nails, but Han took the time to make sure under my nails were clean of any extra dip powder). The price of my dip was $50 Atmosphere: very modern and sleek. They have high chairs and it's set up like a bar. Location: they have some parking in front and some up in the back of the building. I have been here multiple times and while the service is good scheduling and timeliness is an issue. I have now scheduled 3 morning appointments that start at 9:30 because I have to go to work after. These appts were confirmed and each time my service started at least 20 mins late. The manager Kate apologized on the first 2 occasions but on the 3rd day she told me I was wrong and the staff were inside. This was unfortunate as me and another client were sitting outside and the other client tried to get in but it was locked. That experience has now put me off returning. If you have no issues with timing this may be fine for you, but for me 3 times is too much. read more

I had an amazing experience at this place. Why: I called, just moved to the area. They took me same day at the time I requested for me and my bf (who has never gotten a mani before but I wanted him to try a paraffin treatment). They were so warm, professional, and treated me like a treasured guest the moment we walked in til we left. AND they sat us at the exact time of our appointment which I SO appreciate. I super dislike making an appointment and arriving and waiting for the appointment time you scheduled. Like, what's the point. I did my part. Do yours! This is one of the best manicures I've received in a long time. This nail salon is following every COVID protocol and ensuring the safety of their staff and guests at every turn. I felt very safe and comfortable there. The customer service is exemplary and top notch and they are masters at what they do. They took a long time making sure I was comfortable and that my manicure and dip nails looked absolutely flawless! Edit: you can not make this up! It's been six days since I got my nails done. To recap I paid $70 for a REFILL and to have 2 broken nails replaced. The two nails the replaced fell off whole. They didn't break, they both just fell off! Then my thumb nail broke, my right ring finger broke off and my left pointer finger broke off. So now I have to go have four nails replaced that I paid SEVENTY dollars for. I'm laughing at how they insist their prices are worth it!! Pictures attached!! So, I was staying in Burlington at a hotel there and found this place across the street. They had good reviews so I decided to stop in. The salon is very clean, they have a lot of colors although they do have to match more than I expected. Peter is excellent at pedicures, my pedicure was amazing. It was definitely more expensive than most pedicures I've had, but he did a good job at least. My fill on my nails is another story. I came in and I had two broken nails and I just needed a fill. So at this point I need the gel taken off for my pedi, a gel pedicure, 2 broken nails and a fill. All of that was $120. I lived in New York City for 10 years and I have never pay these prices. They say they're in Boston, but actually this is just a suburb of Boston and not even an especially close one. And they're not even close to a NYC salon, but I digress. I was upset when they told me the price at the very end because if I'd known it was gonna be that expensive I definitely wouldn't have done it and all of their prices are not on their website, I looked. AND if I'd known my nails would start breaking immediately I sure wouldn't have gone. I don't live here do if I have a problem I have to pay someone else to fix their bad nails. At any rate this is at the end so I leave and I head back to my hotel and I'm not back 30 minutes and one nail completely falls off (see photos). Three days later another one completely breaks. So you're telling me that I got upset over $120 for nails that you thought were worth it only to have one fall off and one break within a few days of getting it. Got it. Then I went back to have it fixed and I was sitting while she was fixing the nail and I had something under my other nail and I was trying to get it out and she really RUDELY asked me what I was doing. Honey, it's none of your business what I'm doing, you just need to fix the the terrible job you did. And there were only two salons back to back recently that did my nails badly. And I went to them because they were closer to my house, a very new suburb of Phoenix. I usually go further away to better salons. I've lived there for two years and it hasn't been this bad. Anyway, I showed you pictures, you can see the proof, I'm not making up how bad my nails looked or how badly they broke. For the price that I paid it's unacceptable. The staff seems very nice, place is definitely clean and maintained and following applicable guidelines. That being said, I also got the longest manicure of my life which subsequently threw off my schedule for the rest of the day. I got a dip manicure, starting from my natural nail (so no removal) and I was there for a little over an hour and a half. Even having dip taken off before, I have gotten manicures other places in 45min- 1hr. This would be acceptable if the manicure was perfect, but I had color on my fingers and the cuticle area was not clean. Also, the color I picked is only half what I got. Apparently there are some colors that change color, which was not written anywhere or verbalized. So I picked a dark pink, but its only that color if I run my nails under cold water and 95% of the time they are light pink, which is the exact opposite of what I wanted. My nails look fine. Finally found the nail salon I've been looking for. They are super clean and friendly. I suggest making an appointment ! I've never had a better basic pedicure my feet feel so soft and my nails came out amazing. I got a dip manicure and basic pedicure done with Mia and I like basic colors so nothing too crazy was done and I will add photos here. Everything that was used was in a bag and everyone wore masks and gloves. Before she massaged my arms she washed her hands! I hate when the dip powder is too thick and she did an amazing job making sure I got exactly what I wanted. Serena Nail Spa? I would. I was there for a gel pedicure and dip manicure. Upon coming into the spa I got a warm welcome. Hen(sorry if spelling is incorrect) did my pedicure and did a great job. My manicure was done by Wynnie & it came out great as well. I'm gonna name some pros & cons. I don't think any of the following take away from the salon but just a heads up for anyone else or ways they could improve. Cons: - Back home in Dallas I am able to get my mani/pedi done at the same time but since being in Massachusetts I haven't been to a salon that does them simultaneously so I guess that's just a thing here. - The spa water for my pedicure was not hot enough for my liking but Hen was able to boil water for me. If you like your water really hot I would tell them ahead of time so they can have the boiled water ready. - They charge $2 to remove gel polish. I thought that was because it was done by another salon but they said that was done every time. I found that odd. Pros: - Super clean & aesthetically pleasing. - Very hygienic. Staff wears gloves, brand new equipment each time and I saw them sanitize seats after each customer. - Great selection of colors. I got a mani/pedi and the pedicure was fantastic!! She even got a hangnail of mine which I could tell from the relief after she cleaned me up :-) Very meticulous. My manicure isn't quite what I expected as the inspiration photo I provided didn't end up looking like my manicure. It was my first dip manicure experience so in fairness, she did ask me if I liked it and when you do dip manicures, it looks very chalk-y until the final coat, so I kept saying yes because I wasn't sure what the end result would look like. I had called and asked if they did builder gel and e-filing( or dry filing). After confirmation I went to get my builder gel removed. However they insisted that I had to soak my hands in acetone that I am very sensitive to for 7 minutes. Eventually they started ti e-file my nails. Ending with uneven surfaces on all of my nails. The owner tried to make it better by adding many coats, however it didn't solve the problem. Mind you I have always gotten e-files to remove builder gel, so I know it can be done and was what I asked for. See the pics for reference. read more
