After a night out Zaytoons has often been on the list of places to go for food. the kebabs are tasty and they make you feel like you might be eating something semi healthy ( you not really!) they ae fierce messy but at that time of ight you dont really notice anyway, your main objecitve is to eat something and then get home. now every time i have been in here i have enjoyed my food but i always have hangover like symptoms the next day. its not the drink, see the fact above. so.... it has to be the food, thats the common factor every time i feel bad on a vodka zaytoon night. i dont know what to think! read more

there is so much promise here, but ultimately it could have been better. The chicken shwarma was very good, but the chili sauce was a major eh. when i requested hot sauce, I was told that the chilli sauce was it. The bread was very good and the chicken was fine. The white sauce - was that tzatzki(not) - was okay. Next time I will bring my own hot sauce and tzatzki - hopefully, that will turn okay into excellent. As for the restaurant itself - it had a split personality - the front of house was a fast food joint while the seating looked like a proper sit down restaurant. After a good session out on the town, I look forward to a bed night snack. It's essential. And in Dublin you can be spoiled for choice. I've found Zaytoon's to be one that stands apart from the rest for these three reasons: 1. TASTE 2. FRESH 3. This is fast food. Not anything else. Anyone thinking or saying this is quality Iranian or any other kind of persian or middle eastern food has no clue. Its fine. The falafel is frozen, the chips are frozen, there is a ticketing queue system and they shout your number. So its a fast food joint. The staff are nice, but the food is just what it is. I'm not here to tell you about their kebabs. They look good from what I've seen; I've heard good things about them. I also quite like their chips. Enough said. What you really should be ordering here is the hummus and bread. It is the perfect 2a.m. snack. In fact, it's perfect any time of the day. The hummus is the freshest you're ever going to get in Dublin. It has just the right kick to it and I love the couple of whole chickpeas floating at the top. The bread is is soft and perfect for pulling apart and dipping. The portions are more than generous, although the hummus always outlasts the bread. It all keeps pretty well the next day too. Heat the bread up for a few seconds in the microwave so it softens again and drain any excess oil out of the hummus. It's the healthiest drunken food you're probably ever going to have! Oh, and can I just add that the security guy in this place is an absolute gent. read more

Yes, it was incredible!!! I hate to admit this, but we were in Dublin for 4 days and we ate here 3 times. The mixed grill kebab was awesome, but the next two times I got the chicken shish and it tasted incredible. Very friendly staff, great location. Perfect place for lunch or late night post pub deliciousness. They make their own bread right up in the front window area and that is what truly makes this place better than any kebab place I have ever been to IN THE ENTIRE WORLD...and I've been to many kebab places. read more

Zaytoon offers some quality late-night kebab delights in clean, spacious, if a bit rowdy, surroundings. It's mobbed after the pubs close but you're still likely to get a seat because the seating area is pretty large, extending into the back of the building as far as the drunken eye can see. This means that all of that hyper/messy drunken energy isn't stuffed into a tiny florescent-lit dining space like it is in Ricks. The staff are efficient and brisk which they have to be in order to deal with the polluted specimens that present themselves each night. I've only ever eaten here after hours but I wouldn't be averse to nipping in here during the day - and I couldn't say the same for other night-time eateries from my past! I was excited to eat a doner kebab from them because I heard people chatting about how good this place was! Very overhyped. its a bank holiday weekend in sunny dublin and stopped off briefly in Temple bar to grab a quick lunch before getting on the ferry. This place is brilliant for a tasty meal when you are in a hurry. I ordered a fish kebab which came on freshly made iranian type pancake and there were two salmon steaks as well as a lovely selection of salad and a bbq flavour sauce. I go there regularly and order the same thing with my mates. I always order a chick shish kabaad with a side of garlic sauce with my meals (for the chips). I repeatedly stated I want a side of garlic sauce and the cashier kept asking "you want garlic sauce instead of chilli sauce on your kebaads". I kept correcting him until I felt it was settled. When I got my food, no garlic sauce. I asked for the side I ordered and I was told it would be an extra 1.50 EUR. I paid with card and no cash so could not purchase the extra side as there is a 5 EUR minimum. I explained how I ordered it repeatedly and there was a confusion. Really great spot - surprisingly - for a healthy lunchtime treat. I'm a big Zaytoon fan. Veg is always fresh, meat always cooked to perfection and sauces are unbelievably tasty. Kebab comes out open faced, but they will wrap it for you if you ask nicely! The chips (when done right) are delish. Did come across one or two slightly undercooked ones in my time, but they're few & far between. Also reasonably priced. Dropping a star because the bread was not up to its usual magnificence, oh the magic of a flatbread that still manages to be fluffy and full of bready flavour and goodness! Sadly, today the bread was a little overbaked and thin. Still, I had a delicious lunch courtesy of the lamb shish special, which includes bread and drink for a tenner. It was highly entertaining watching my meal being put together, none of the three staff looked at what the other was doing as they assembled my meal at top speed. It was a Tom Cruise-like performance in Cocktail, they just knew where everything was going to be. The plate of hot bread appeared as if out of nowhere beside the cook, who de-skewered the lumps of juicy, hot lamb were onto it with all the skill of an Olympic fencer. The salad and drink were placed beside by his colleague with the speed and precision of a master juggler and the plate and a drink was whipped over to the tray by my server with a flourish worthy of David Copperfield. Simply put, I love Zaytoon. It's oft mentioned as a place for post-boozing food, but I would recommend it at any time of day. On my first visit, my brother and I split the platter for 2 and every bit of it was delicious and even too much food. The hummus and tzaziki were both pleasing in their taste and consistency, and all of the meat was grilled to perfection. Of the selection, I would recommend the koobideh. The only negative I would note is that the bread is a bit chewy for my tastes, but I suppose that would be negligible if one was a quicker eater than I! read more

What a place to start my first review! Zaytoon is a great place for a late bite after a night on the town.. If you're fond of a late night kebab, you'll love Zaytoons. Simple as. i will agree that this is really amazing middle of the night drunk food and it's actually really good for what it is. it's definitely by far hands down the best place for kebabs in dublin. trust me if you've ever tried iskander's or any of the other random dodgy establishments pepperring the streets, you will be delighted with zaytoon. on the flip side, being turkish and having had many many kebabs and kebab-type foods in my life, i won't say this is the best kebab place i've ever eaten at. but i do take it with a grain of salt that it's "persian" and not "turkish" so i can't judge them too harshly. that said, it's actually really decent food despite of its late night last resort sort of niche. read more
