Cholo Kebab Plate and Chicken Shish Kebab Plate

Zaytoon served up the best meal we had in Dublin! We ordered their Cholo Kebab and Chicken Shish Kebab Plates and we cleared our plates the food was so good. As an Iranian American who has grown up eating this food, I can say Zaytoon is some of the best fast Iranian food I've ever tasted. Quality and portions are outstanding and the prices are super reasonable. Service was friendly and there was plenty of seating when we arrived around 7:30 on a Sunday evening. We can't wait to come back on our next visit to Dublin.

"Thank you! Nice one!" - two local Dublin punters acknowledge the awesomeness of Zaytoon to the hardworking kitchen staff as they leave. Well they might! This is the best kebab shop in Dublin and in a great location too! Awesome Chicken Shish kebab is the house specialty but try the other Persian options too, it's got plenty of space and seating and is clean, fast and a pleasure to eat in (take out options too). As a friend from Bristol said of Zaytoon: "It's the kind of place where ordering a kebab sober is normal because it's so feckin' great." Nuff said.

Chicken shish-kebab (small size) with all the toppings

A great place for a quick meal and with a handy location close to plenty of bars, Zaytoon is infamous for being a late-night post-pub pit stop. It wasn't late when we stopped in, but I won't deny we were a few beers in by that point. We tried the lamb donner and chicken shish-kebabs... both served on fresh bread with salad and sauce. You have an option of two sizes; we ordered the small (€7) and they did us just fine. If you're particularly hungry, you can upgrade to the regular size for another €1.50. We were starving, and they majorly hit the spot. What sets them apart is the bread, which is made fresh to order in a clay oven. Chewy, smoky, crusty deliciousness. I'd skip the chips here, though - they are disappointingly scrawny.

Well, know this - Zaytoon dished up my best meal in Ireland. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Take everything you know about the standard kebab stand, and turn it right on it's head, because Zaytoon has a brilliant atmosphere fully stocked with booths, tables for large crowds, televisions, and a clean setup served by fast and friendly staff. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Massive mixed wrap: €9,00 - http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QFUJVu9LcQAXb9yykDS2ig&userid=OKX-V5j_qfuOebeHeWGrHg Fantastic. What a colossal wrap this was, and with size to cover two meals, the pricetag was phenomenal especially considering the full service you get here at Zaytoon. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Yum. All the essentials are here. Fresh and delicious mixed meat cooked to perfection, crisp lettuce, garlic yoghurt and chili sauce, onions, and hot peppers. Delicious, and with a wrap that seemed lightly buttered and briefly toasted. Top marks. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Absolutely. Star Granted.

I've been here twice. I got the same things both times, I really need to be more adventurous! :P Anyway I got hummus and bread which was really yum - please see attached my smiley faced hummus I got saturday night :P The bread is like naan bread, and is really tasty with the hummus. I also sampled some garlic chips which were quite tasty too. I've only been here at night, so that's about 2am, and it's been full to the brim of hungry punters after a night out. Having said that, service the two times have been quick, wasn't waiting any longer than 4 or 5 mins to receive my order. The kebabs looks really tasty so I might try those another time :) They're open 7 days from 12pm to 4am. So it's nice to know you don't have to make a dash for it after the pub closes!

Lamb Kabob three nights in a row lol

Just went in for a late night snack. Ordered the lamb kabob plain with rice. Lamb quantity is pretty much on par with one order but well worth it for the 11 euros they charge. Plus 1 for the rice. 12 euros for a lamb kabob plate. Lamb was nicely cooked, not hard like some places make it. Seasoning varied from piece to piece but overall satisfactory. The guy calling out orders was confused that I did not want a salad tonight so he tossed in an extra soda for me :). Baklavas, not my usual type as I am from the US but tasty, very juicy. I'll be back again for a late snack when I need it. It's always packed in there from the looks of it.

The kebabs are ok, not the best in Dublin. I´ve been for lunch few times, always sober at midday, maybe my experience is a bit different than the midnight visitors. They use to have a deal with drink and chips for a good price for Monday to Wednesday. The deal is good for lunch. They offer two sizes, normal and big. The normal size is ok, but if you like to eat more meat go for the big size. The service is not too friendly, nobody is perfect, I guess. However the venue is nice, a bit dark, what can hide the wrinkle but the sparkle in the eyes as well.

I had : The chicken shish kebab and chips (every time!) Whether your heading out and need something to line your stomach before a big night out or about to head home after one, Zaytoon is your place. It gets VERY crowded when the pubs and clubs start to shut but do not be put off by the big queue. It is totally worth it. The garlic sauce is very good, the meat seems to be good quality and the bread is yummy too. I've also tried the hummus which was very good. There are two portion sizes so if you're not ravenous or want to gorge on sides you can opt for the smaller one. I've also been informed that the roast veggie kebab is very tasty but I haven't been able to tear myself away from my tried and tested chicken shish.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet - one sentence is all it needs. Best kebabs in Dublin, hands down.

The kebabs are not too bad but sometimes meat is not fresh. Rice, bread and sauces are good.

Can't fault zaytoon after a night out. Portions aren't great though got the price. Chips were a handful and wolfed them down.

Plenty of room and quick service, but subpar food - especially the Hummus.

Located near St. Stephen's Green, I stumbled upon it while famished and searching for lunch. Western Europe tends to have a large number of Turkish kebab spots and this is really no different but I will give them some points for having a catchy name and good signage. Kebabs are the European version of fast food and is especially convenient for lunchtime takeaway. That is what I typically get but this place had other items on the menu too including Fish and Chips, Pizzas, etc. I noted that they were hand-tossing dough to order for their Kebab wraps and their pizzas so this is so much better than what we tend to see for fast food lunch options in the USA. There are only about 5 tables in the place so if you eat in, don't be a jerk and monopolize a table for a long time. Stuff your pie hole and move out. Better yet, take away and go to St. Stephen's Green across the street for a park bench setting to enjoy your lunch. If you go between noon-7p, they have meal specials that come with chips and a beverage. If you are a moron like me, you miss the sign and order a Doner Kebab and a drink and miss the meal deal and end up paying about an extra 1€. The guys working the place are polite, they get your order right (I asked for extra chili and peppers), and they know how to move a crowd. While I was in there about 25 people followed me in and slammed them with lunch orders but they kept up with the pace and got everyone taken care of in a timely way. The food was exactly as you would expect. Look at the photos and it tastes as good as it looks and all for under 7€ in general. The salad toppings are very fresh and the meat is shaved to order and not slowly dying and going limp under a heat lamp as I have seen at some other Kebab houses. I enjoyed my lunch there and am going to go back to grab another one to stick in my hotel cooler for my jet-lag middle of the night snack when I wake up around 1 am as is my usual Europe habit. It's not fancy, it's not trendy, it's not hip. But it is inexpensive by European standards, tasty, and filling. It is a no-brainer for 4 stars from me.

I'm originally from Germany and we have Kebab-places there in every street, so I'm usually quite prejudiced against these places abroad already. What I can say is that the meat is extraordinary and the herbs and spices give it the perfect aroma. I never had such a good meat before in a kebab. The bread is self made and baked in a stone oven. It is a really good portion to eat. With the meat comes lettuce, tomatoes, olives, red cabbage, a chili and onions. Also you get 2 sauces in a separate bowl, so you can basically create the kebab yourself. There is rarely fat dropping from the kebab and all the ingredients are pickled and don't just come plain. The whole restaurant looks very clean inside. It also seems to be refurbished not that long time ago. If I could I would rate this place with 100 stars. If you like Kebab, there is no better place in Dublin. Trust me, I tried them all.
