There's usually always a line but it's that more likely that all food is hot and fresh- during lunch if you're in a hurry it might not be the place for to get in line unless you have extra time for your lunch break. I do like that despite the line longs the orders are correct, hot and fresh. I'd gladly wait for yummy fresh chicken... Lol wouldn't you wait too?!?! Just like I'd gladly wait for fresh hot French fries. Let me take you though what I ordered: Chicken tenders kids meal Wings and things Chicken club meal My order came with that tasty Zaxby's sauce too!! Including fries, toast and beverage. By the way, their fries are wrinkled Fries with seasoning (sprinkles, added on top Y'all now on that Wings and Things meal - I selected a sauce called "Tongue Torch" and it was so gooood! It's like a step up in heat from typical mild sauce. Applauding the ratio of sauce to wings!! Way to go!!

Zaxby's oh Zaxby's where do I begin! Ok, ill start with location. It is in the heart of Memphis in between downtown, East Memphis , Midtown area. Of course, Union Avenue is always busy, but they do an excellent job of providing fast convenient service. The food is always good and seasoned just right! The bread is so buttery and good, the fries are always seasoned to perfection, and the wings are always moist and tasty! When I ordered takeout the other day I parked and ate it in the lot! Lol, I may as well dined in. The price point is feasible. Right now they have a $5.99 deal with a fair amount of options. You get a drink, fries, bread, and of course a chicken item. I would definitely recommend this location! The service is always friendly!

My first time trying out zaxby because I'm from the west coast and i gotta say it doesn't live up to the hype. The service was slow and by the time I got my meal my fries were cold. I expected more.

If I could give a half star I would. This place is gross. Chicken tastes like freezer burn. Don't bother.

The service staff is very bad...even for a fast food restaurant. I have tried it twice, same level of service both times.

A good choice on a Sunday when other restaurants are closed. The chicken is decent, but I wouldn't choose if other options were available.

They have a good amount of seating on the patio as well as indoors. Our server was Sean and he was wonderful during our visit and very attentive and sweet. I ordered a delicious lemon berry sour cocktail, which came with tito's vodka, blackberry, strawberries, and a citrus sour. For my meal, I ordered the shrimp and grits with gulf shrimp, mushrooms, shallots, garlic butter sauce, green onion, cheesy grits. So yummy! I would easily go back for both the cocktail and shrimp and grits if in the area in the future.

You know when you try a dish at a restaurant and from that point on, you judge every version of it against the best one you've ever had? Their spicy crispy tofu did exactly that. What's disheartening is that it's in Memphis, Tennessee and I live in Illinois. How am I supposed to convince my boyfriend to drive 16 hours round trip just for tofu?! Everything else was extremely well executed. Even the jasmine tea was excellent. We actually ended up leaving the city late the next day just so we could go back for lunch. It's that good. If your spice tolerance is low, definitely let them know this dish is spicy, as it should be! One recommendation: if you order the wood ear salad, get the cucumber salad as well and eat them together to balance your palate it's a total game changer. If nothing else, the spicy crispy tofu is an absolute must!!!

I am sure the staff had their hands full. Our server Daniel (name on ticket) was a complicated hot mess. He started out saying that we should have gone to Lao S.C., that it was better food? Never saw that coming. He said he used to work there too - which I wondered why he quit such a new establishment after such a short run? Then it hit me: I began by saying that we generally get the same things (mapo tofu or the cumin lamb - excellent choices), and I wanted to try something different? I was interested in the spicy whole grilled fish in pot! He told me that I wanted the fried chicken sautéed in peppers... his favorite. I said no, I really wanted to try the whole fish. He continues insisting I wanted the chicken dish? 3 more times... and I began suspecting maybe something was amiss, perhaps freshness issue with the fish - I relented and went with the chicken which ultimately was disappointing. Hard cooked chicken scraps edging on burnt tossed not in a sauce but in handfuls of dried peppers. Dry-fried. Very uneventful, hard and dull. Wife went with the shrimp in milk sauce which was extraordinarily delicious. Plump and savory jumbo shrimp in a creamy almost walnut sauce. We ordered a pear Sake from Oregon (which he told us was from Japan), and the spicy dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were tender and homemade which we liked but were not overwhelmed with. The Sake was light with a hint of asian pear went well with dinner. Still wishing I was more demanding on the whole fish (or) took his former recommendation and went to the other place?

Let me start by saying this: I truly enjoy this restaurant. The atmosphere is unique, the concept is fun, and historically the food and service have been reliable. That's exactly why this experience stood out so much. For a party of our size, we would have preferred seating toward the back of the restaurant where it was noticeably warmer and more comfortable. Instead, we were seated in an area that felt a bit chilly, which set the tone for the evening. The bigger issue, however, was with the food and service execution. Four dishes out of our party of twelve were essentially untouched. Two scallop entrées and the Steak Frites were overcooked, tough, and unfortunately inedible. The special ribeye of the night--the most expensive entrée--was also not finished. What concerned me most was that no one from the service team paused to read the table or ask why multiple plates remained full. Only one dish was removed, and there was no follow-up conversation about the others. We spent over $800 that evening, including drinks, appetizers, sides, and desserts, so expectations for attentiveness and quality were understandably higher. When a table leaves several entrées uneaten, that's usually a signal worth acknowledging. After the visit, on January 9, 2025, I took the time to provide feedback privately through OpenTable in the hope that management would review it and respond. Unfortunately, I never received any acknowledgment. Even a brief reply would have gone a long way. Silence, in this case, was disappointing and felt like a missed opportunity to demonstrate care and accountability. I'm sharing this feedback because I believe in the restaurant and want to see it succeed. I work in a customer-facing industry myself, and I know firsthand how small service touches--checking in, asking questions, and following up--can make the difference between a good experience and one that keeps guests coming back. I genuinely hope this was just an off night. I would still consider returning, but I do hope the level of attentiveness and follow-through improves.
