I support this business every Tuesday in a tough economy, at different locations throughout the city. This 1 cashier has left a bad stain on the entire company and is making me rethink budgeting my Tuesday money elsewhere. If she is an owner, I need to disassociate myself from the entire company. If she is a badly chosen employee, your company needs to unchoose her instead. Please advise on your customer service policy and how you plan to address this situation. read more

Today, I am absolutely heartbroken, angry, and disappointed by what happened to members of the Central Volleyball team at TACOnganas, located at 2120 Central Ave., Memphis, TN 38104. These are student-athletes--children who deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and kindness, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I was told that one of the students, who is Hispanic, was spoken to by the cashier in Spanish and asked, "Why are you here with these people?" She responded that they were her friends. What was said to her afterward was so vulgar and offensive that she could not even bring herself to repeat it. Let that sink in. These are children. They walked into your establishment as customers and left having experienced something no child should ever have to experience. This isn't about a bad day. This isn't about someone simply being rude. When a child feels singled out or discriminated against because of who they are or who they choose to stand beside, that matters. You don't get to treat people like they are less than human and then expect them to continue supporting your business with their hard-earned money. And yes, I told my child not to eat the food after hearing what happened. When a business makes families feel unwelcome or disrespected, it destroys the trust that comes with serving the community. I can't tell my child to support a business while simultaneously wondering whether that business respects the very children spending their money there. To TACOnganas Memphis: You owe these student-athletes an apology. Not a scripted response. Not an excuse. A genuine apology and accountability for what happened. Our children deserve better. They work hard. They practice for hours. They represent their school, their families, and their community. They should be able to walk into a restaurant with their teammates and friends without being made to feel like they don't belong. Discrimination has no place in our community, especially when the people being targeted are children. You have every right to conduct your business however you choose, but I have every right to decide where I spend my money. And after this, you will not be receiving another dollar of my hard-earned money. My hope is that this situation is taken seriously--not just because of the business consequences, but because these young people deserve to know that adults will stand up for them when they are treated unfairly. Our children deserve respect. Our children deserve dignity. And our children deserve better. read more

Extremely poor service to students and racist subpar food, and terrible customer service

Food did not have any flavor bland only one sauce for 3 tacos. Service was mid she rushed me and my tacos had had hardly any cilantro and onions on it literally 2 pieces. The outside area is cute kinda far away from the truck but they had a few games. The heat makes no one want to sit out there with the flys. Overall not for me!!! I have had way better. Great food good prices. Has a small gated parking lot, very well kept and clean. The parking is a little tricky if you drive a larger vehicle. Unsure if they have public restrooms available. The main restaurant is a food trailer setup. I've always gotten friendly fast service and my order has been consistent over the last 6 or more orders I've made with them. read more

Great little spot for tasty cheap tacos. Basically a taco truck but they have a few tables under a covering. There are several to choose from...Al pastor, pollo, shrimp, Barbacoa, a few others. They all come in a corn shell but not a regular hard shell, it's kind of a softer corn shell. All the tacos are really good, but very greasy. We stumbled upon this place while sitting at a red light. No lie. We happened to look to our right and boom we spotted this taco street truck. Listen some of the best food you can ever eat comes from a street truck. Don't ask me why but that's a fact. This place is no exception. I have to say that the set go here is really nice. You order your food and you have somewhere to sit, stand or go back to your car. We knew it was going to be good because more people started coming. We had steak, chicken and shrimp tacos. Great little spot right off Central. The outdoor ambiance has decent parking, a fenced-in lot, & plenty of well-lit open air seating. I went at a later time and the service was quick & polite. Two tacos come with a side of coleslaw & a packet of their crema sauce. Throw in a Mexican Coke and you're right at $12. I chose Asada and Chicharron. The tacos were very "birria" like which is a-okay by me! They had a good helping of protein for the price & plenty of flavor. The crema was also good but not necessary for the steak because it was EXCELLENT. The Chicharron is a little daring. While not terrible, I was slightly adverse to the taste and the texture seemed rubbery. I am glad they decided to add this to Cooper street! I had seen it for a while and it was Cinco De Mayo, so this was a perfect time for me to stop in and support a new and local business to the area. I love Taco Nganas. Whichever location I visit, I am always going to get the same thing....3 Nganas style beef tacos and the consomé to go along with it. You literally can't go wrong. I'm still not sure what Nganas means, but I had 2 Pollo Taconganas tacos and 2 regular chicken tacos. The nganas tacos have "chicken marinated in onions and other spices that is served in a corn tortilla dipped in an oil prepared with dried peppers. Topped with grilled onions, cilantro and melted cheese, served with a side of curtido, limes and salsa." The plain chicken tacos come with onions and cilantro. I enjoyed both honestly and would get that same meal again, which was ~$15 if I remember correctly. My only knock is that they don't have side items. But honestly after a few tacos, you don't really need a side. They have several locations throughout the city so check them out! read more

This is some of the fastest and freshest Mexican food I've had! They have multiple locations; this one is a food truck parked in Cooper-Young with a large outdoor seating area. They do offer a few drinks such as water and Jarritos, but you can easily bring your own drinks since you will be sitting outside. My favorite taco was the pastor (pork and pineapple), which was the most flavorful meat I tried. The carne asada and carnitas meats were not as flavorful to me. I ordered from here enroute to my Airbnb in Central Garden I believe on Carr Avenue. I was caught by surprise that the line I saw was for a food truck. The locals must really enjoy their food. Luckily I ordered online. We pulled up and yes parking is limited because they can get busy. The area was clean. There is seating outside for waiting or grabbing a quick bite.
