Not sure if i will ever try cook out again, but some things are overly hyped on social media. We don't have cook out in my hometown, so why not try it when you come somewhere that does! The food was subpar. The prices were good. For both meals we only paid $20. The chicken wrap was the best thing i ate. The chicken sandwich was ok, but was definitely not spicy and the fries were bland and flavourless. The cheerwine float was melted before i even got it, and flavourless. My husband had a walking taco, quesadilla and cheeseburger and had a peach cobbler shake. He stated his food was just ok, but the shake was delicious. No napkins provided, or bags. Food was just handed to us in the boxes. Service was quick. Getting to the drive thru was confusing depending which way you enter the parking lot. read more

You know, I get it... working sucks, especially on a Sunday. So I go to Cook Out around 4:30pm to get a milkshake. I walk in and there are two employees on their phones looking out the window. There is nobody behind the counter. So, I wait there for 4 minutes before being acknowledged by a nice woman in the back. She takes my order for one milkshake and she asks another girl to make it. So I went and the guy that was working the front register was so kind and he explain how the Trays work with the two sides and a drink!! It didn't take long for the order to be ready! This is my first encounter with a Cookout and I loved it. Keep in mind, my 5 stars here doesn't necessarily mean it was better than 4 stars I'd give to another restaurant. I place this in my fast food category which excludes certain factors. This is fast food in every sense and I'm also judging it by the price I paid for what I got. I got what I paid for, they got my order correct, my food was hot, and the place was pretty clean. As for the burger I got, it won't make my list of best burgers, but I honestly think it was the best burger I've had for fast food. I will never eat Burger King again. Future consumption of McDonald's for me, would be a matter of survival purposes. I'll admit I do get a craving for those Krystals sometimes, but this burger was different. The meat was grilled and it had flavor without being salted or seasoned. This was a better burger than I've had in many restaurants. I got a really good 1/2 pound burger, fries, and Coke, plus paid sales tax for $8.49! I only hope they can keep up their quality. It seems to be a trend that fast food places start off really great and go downhill. Everyone is happy and excited to go to work. Disappointed. Cookout was suggested to me as a late night meal option and after looking at the menu I was extremely excited to give it a try. I arrived in the drive thru a little after midnight. There were two cars in front of me, no problem. The first car and second car order and pay all within no more than 5 mins. Now it's my turn to pay. I had two orders 1 Tray - Cheeseburger, french fries, and hushpuppies with sweet tea and 1 Tray - 2 quesadillas with onion rings and hushpuppies with diet coke. After paying my total, which I must admit was quite reasonable for the amount of food you get, I was given my change and my drinks and waited for my food. I waited in line for roughly 35 mins before receiving my food. I left the drive thru at 1:10 am. Although, at this point I am pretty frustrated for having to wait so long and at this point, thoroughly hungry, I'm excited to get home to eat. After finally arriving home, I open up my orders and to say it nicely, I was disappointed. My first Tray with the cheeseburger was a piece of burnt meat on a bun that dwarfed the "burger". Instead of receiving fries, I received a chicken wrap that was also burnt and drenched in ranch sauce. I will admit that although the hushpuppies were overdone, they were still pretty good. The second order with the quesadillas was also pretty lackluster. The quesadillas were supposed to be chicken but they were more like cheese tortillas featuring a hint of chicken. All-in-all the food wasn't good enough for me to come back and try it again, the prices however might get me to try another location. Despite waiting for so long I did have a pretty good experience with customer service seeing as it was after midnight. The staff was fairly polite all things considered. I did notice people walking in and out as if they were all taking breaks at the expense of the customers. But I'm not sure if that's the case I just know that the food and the experience could be much better and I hope it gets better since it's closer to my house. :) read more

But they've been open for a few weeks now, that should have already been fixed. Here in "Tenn A Key" visiting and I'm in the mood for A quick bite. Saw this the other night and noticed it's not too far from where I'm staying at, figured I walk over there. Ordered the regular burger well done w/cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. French fries and Strawberry shake. The Dining area is spacious and clean with table seating as well as booths. The burger is pretty tasty. Fries are good and warm, could've been A little bit more and the shake is thick and creamy. In total, it was under $10.00 not A bad experience. Overall, the menu at Cookout is great! I've tried three locations in my area and have not been disappointed. However, I noticed a change in one of the menu items. I normally order a strawberry milkshake when I order my Tray. It's so thick, I just use the spoon. But this milkshake is not the classic Cookout shake. It tastes like some powdered mix where you add water and freeze. It is NOT good at all. It's rare that I write reviews nonetheless negative ones, but this is DEFINITELY warranted. This was my second encounter with Cook Out, the first being in Jackson, TN and I loved it. Meals were quick, good, and cheap and easily became my favorite place to go to after work. Moving to Memphis, I was craving a burger and Cook Out was the closest and most logical choice. Initially, I'd give my meal a solid 2.5/5. Not terrible, not great either. They forgot everything I asked for on the burger I asked for (mustard, pickles, bacon, lettuce) but the cheese and still charged me for it. The food wasn't all that hot even though I waited quite a bit for the food. I've experienced better, but it didn't taste bad. I almost left it at that. Not even 30 minutes later, I felt feverish, dizzy, and extremely sick to my stomach. I spent the next 24-48 hours experiencing every stomach issue to boot. Alright I have gone to this place two straight after work and I will say that legit this place is way superior than every burger fast casual beside Five Guys. I think eventually that Cookout will take over all the now vacant Dixie Cafe all over Memphis I would say because their food is worth the price to drive to.
