On 3/14/25 we had two cars ahead of us. It took 12 minutes until we ordered. It was this location in Gastonia because I bookmarked it while waiting. I looked behind me during this time and about eight cars were behind me. Note: About five cars pulled out and left the line. Thankfully after ordering the pick-up process went quickly. HOWEVER, no one apologized for the long wait to order. OK customer service: apologize. Excellent customer service: apologize and give a gift card for another visit. Then when we got our food, I was underwhelmed. The Big Zax Snack (3 tenders, fries, and drink for $8.99) was not how it used to be. The chicken tenders were tiny, and the French fries were skimpy and not properly seasoned. Please see photo of my untouched opened box. We were already back on the road when I opened my box or else I would have come in for a refund. I haven't eaten at Zaxby's in two years. It will be awhile until I return. I don't know why there seems to be so much hate for this place in these reviews. It's not the Capital Grill, it's a chicken fast food place. When I stopped by for lunch, the staff were friendly and helpful, and my sandwich was exactly what I expected (and paid for.. c'mon, it was less than $8 for a sandwich, fries and a drink!). While not a gourmet meal, the hot and spicy chicken and fries really hit the spot The interior was also spotless, and my fears of contracting COVID were instantly assuaged by the quite clean dining area. Awful service. Ordered three meals, two were delivered. Food took an hour for a ten minute drive. Driver had to wait. The food was cold and tasteless. Plus someone didn't have their order at all. When you charge what they do, and have actual managers on duty they can at least check the delivery orders. Will not be going back! Zero stars if it was possible. read more

Food was fine, but order was rung up incorrectly at this location. Staff was nice, but it was an odd exchange. Nothing major, just an extra 4 piece with fries was on the receipt. We thought our order for 2 at $33 sounded off, but we didn't make the correction then at the speaker. After we handed the card to them, we asked for the receipt with our food. For our part, we should've brought it up sooner. We requested they remove the extra meal from the receipt once we looked it over, and they first said they'd already rung us up, implying we wouldn't get that money back. We pushed a little bit more, and their 2nd offer was were we sure we didn't want the extra meal. We finally gave a 'come on, guys' and they were able to give us that chunk of the receipt back in cash. Was about to just protest the charge with my bank if that didn't go through. I'm guessing they weren't 100% confident on how to refund a payment on the register, and that's why asking for a partial refund took so long. Location could use some more training. We were on the road from Charleston to Blowing Rock North Carolina and the hunger pangs struck. Although the youngest son who was back in Charleston loves Zaxby's we thought it would be good for us to eat here but it was a big disappointment. Mainly it was the chicken tenders which were rather tough and chewy. Why that was, I have no clue. I don't know what to think. I should have given them a 5 star review right when they opened, but I took them for granted. Everything was fine, but now twice in a month I have waited in the drive-thru behind only one other person for over 10 minutes waiting for my food. The first time it took 15 minutes, the second time I just left after 10 minutes. I get it, their food takes a little longer than most fast food places, but if the car in front of me hasn't moved in 10+ minutes, I'm just going to leave. Sorry. Tip to management. Wow! How can you screw up Zaxby's so badly?!? The lady who checked me out was sweet. $11. Tiny little chicken tenders with hardly any breading and rubbery. Where to start with disappointment...no seasoning salt on my French fries which were undercooked...excessive wait time in the drive through....standard zax sauce instead of the sauce requested and last but not least I just don't know what they have done to the chicken tenders. Did they change the breading? Did they overcook them? Have my taste buds changed....I just don't care for their chicken anymore at all. This was terrible all around with the exception of the ice, which I don't think you can mess up unless the machine just runs out and I can't get any.
