Really good and inventive Pitas. I keep meaning to try some more of their menu- like their Buffalo Chicken nachos, Falafel, burgers, gyro, and wings...but it's hard to come and not get a philly pita. I usually get one with fried pickles or pimento cheese. Their mac and cheese is really good- it's baked and my favorite kind. They also have a pretty epic selection of local can beers which I never get to try since I come on my work lunches. Each beer is usually around $3.50- 5 dollars for draft and 2.50- 4 for cans. I went for the chicken bacon ranch pita - it was loaded with marinated chicken bits, full strips of bacon and melty cheese. Each bite was delicious and flavorful. I'm pretty sure the pitas are homemade - light airy and could be munched on without any delicious fillings. I also got the fried pickles as a side (small upcharge) and they were amazing! Crisp, salty chips that went perfectly with the ranch dressing. My husband got the wings and was pleased with the level of heat on them as well as the size - they were meaty wings. When I go again (which I will for sure) I will ask for lettuce on my pita, as I needed something to lighten up the richness of it all. My only complaint was that the space didn't seem spaced out for COVID regulations. There were definitely people at every table all around us. And there wasn't 6 ft of space. 1. They do not adhere to social distancing. When I asked why someone was being sat directly behind me my server said " We let people sit where they want." It should be noted that customers are escorted and seated. Servers wore masks that cradled their chins. Mouths and noses exposed. 2. I had a blackberry mule. It was delicious. 3. Whoa! You have got to be kidding me ... I had no idea how good this place was going to be. Chris, one of the owners at ODB, recommended Pita Wheel to grab a late lunch on a Saturday. So glad we went. After we placed our order, I got talking about this place with the owner, Chris Davis. Totally down to earth and friendly guy. He made "the rounds" through the brewery scene in Charlotte with his food truck for two years, having the desire and success to open a fixed location. His experience has given him an insight into peoples tastes for food and beer. The day I went, there were 14 beers on tap, the majority of which were from local NC breweries. Combine that with a bottle shop feel featuring large refrigerator cases, for drink in or take out, with a really nice selection of high quality beers. Now onto the food - best sandwich I've had in a longggg time. The Fried Pickle Philly is where it's at ladies and gentleman. Shaved sirloin (juicy), Sriracha Aioli and crispy, tart deep fried pickles. Amazing combo of flavors!! Add to that a very generous side of Greek Style cucumber salad. This makes me really sad to have to write this review, BUT it would be really nice to get the actual food that I order and see how it is. The Pita Wheel's food is excellent, but they NEVER get takeout orders correct. This is my third time ordering take out and it being wrong. They're super nice and correct it every time - but every time the rest of the food is cold by the time the other part gets "fixed." Tonight, I picked up my food, didn't check it (should have learned my lesson), got it home and it was wrong. Keep in mind, I ordered a chicken southern philly (nothing special) and received something random with maybe beef? Maybe lamb? I'm unsure. I've called 3 times to see if I can come back and pick up what it should be and nobody will answer the phone. I understand they are busy, especially with the new social distancing orders, but shouldn't it be right more often now that they're only doing take out? Went here a year or so ago and loved the chicken pita! It was moist, juicy, flavorful! Went back bc we were playing baseball in Dallas and well, it was just ok. Food came out quick which was good- even though the place was packed. My boys had chicken bacon ranch and other had Philly. They both enjoyed. I had chicken pita... I first tried them in early 2019, and since then, they've been my go-to place for fast, delicious food, a smiling staff, and a great selection of craft beer! Everything on the menu is fantastic! Dude.... I love me some Greek and I love me some pitas. Got the California pita and it was amaze-balls. And it's huge. If I had a fridge available, I would have saved half of the sandwich in order to savor it longer. Got a side of broccoli, which was steaks to perfection. I live about 30 mins away but I was near an thought this food would great for watching football on a Sunday :) My review is a 3 stars more so for their dealing with Covid. As I walked up I saw they were packed inside an out just as if this Pandemic did not exist ‍ There were no tables spaced apart , the bar was packed ppl were shoulder to shoulder. I ordered my food an kept my mask on the entire time waiting on my food. It's an old gas station similar to how Fuel pizza was started in Charlotte. As I looked around the kitchen staff had gloves as usual but no masks. This is the First eatery I have been to I have seen this. I hate to update this, but tonight was rough for Pita. Obviously it's a busy Friday. We ordered online so they could take their time and we would pick up our food. Two different phillys, one with sweet potato fries($2) and one with onion rings ($2). Plus buffalo wings. Well the wings were fantastic. The southern Philly had zero toppings beside cheese (barely any) and the Cheech and Chong philly had fried pickles and that's it. No sauce. No toppings otherwise. Terrible and dry. Both meals came with regular fries. Also paid for an extra side of ranch (.25) that wasn't included. So we are our 4.25 and paid about $39 after tip for only 10 dollars worth of good food (the wings). I called and the very nice employee told me she would try to refund my 4 dollars but didn't know how to do that via Chowhound (their online ordering service). I doubt I'll ever see it but it just was all completely disappointing. **ETA: They did issue me a refund for the 4.50 and that was very nice. Still was a two star meal but we will go again.
