    SHRIMP PHO SHRIMP SUMMER ROLLS
    Tamica J.

Food was ok. It was $30 for pho with bone broth and 2 spring rolls. It's a hole in the wall charging BIG prices. I probably won't go back because it said my order was ready. However, when I got there, only two people there and they were limited on their English and it was just hard to communicate. My order was NOT ready. I had paid for extra bean sprouts in my Shrimp Tolls and Pho. I paid for extra hoisin and chili paste. It was like pulling teeth dealing with the them. The Pho was not seasoned enough but I DID enjoy the spring rolls. If you're in the area, and you try them, please let me know your thoughts.

    Pho was delicious

Superfast service and clean environment. The food was great. A bonus was they were playing Christian music.

    Very bad bun thit

I wasted my money! I asked a few questions about the menu and ingredients and the young waitress had the worst attitude. First off the menu says grilled chicken, but it does not state what flavor the grilled chicken is so I asked her if it was lemongrass she said she didn't know. Next, I asked her if there was sugar inside of the sauce that you put on top of the salad. I didn't find my questions to be anything out of the ordinary, but she responded with the most annoyed and apathetic tone. Girl if you hate working there, maybe you should find something more of your speed instead of staying at Me Viet Kitchen, you are a buzzkill to everyone trying to support the local business. I had to ask her to go ask her coworkers due to my allergy needs. Her excuse was "I dont know the owner isn't here." Ok well you should know if you work there, because when selling food the vendor and the workers are responsible for upholding public safety standards and furthermore trying to show the best of the business. Like what are you doing there public facing if you don't like engaging with people? I don't care if you are the owners family, there is a state license and business codes that everyone who is employed should be required to follow. If someone went to the store with a peanut or shellfish allergy, I pray to God that they take it seriously because from the waitress's attitude she could care less about my questions!!! Ambiance- there's so many signs up stating you have to pay, it should have been the red flag... Now on to describe the food, noodle salad or Bun Thit. The plate was delivered with the fork laying on top of the salad, big no thank you. The grilled chicken was leftover and microwaved. The carrots which should be pickled in a tangy brine, were matchstick carrots meant for salad. The noodles were soggy. This was a poor interpretation of the Vietnamese dish. So much was wrong here tonight and I feel truly embarrassed for the owner and also saddened to see Vietnamese food and culture represented so poorly in an area that needs more diversity!! What they need to do to immediately to improve their public relations: train their staff on how to warmly greet customers, look their patrons in the eye, work on handling anger issues by firing staff who get upset at customers for asking basic questions, have the workers know the menu like the back of their hand, and really delve into recipes and food safety concerns to earn the trust of the public. Because of the low volume of customers, it may be best for the owner to reduce staff, and refocus on improving the quality of their food, reducing the menu, streamlining ingredients to avoid rotten food and making the most of the products, and ensuring great customer service.

VEGGIE SUMMER ROLLS with fuzzy mold on the sauce! Tried to call 4x to let them know when I got home but no one would ever answer.
    Cheryl M.

When you call in an order, it's not acceptable to see fuzzy "mold" on the sauce. Tried to call to let them know 4x and no one ever answered the phone. I'd like to go back and check the health score or have the health dept. go check their kitchen. They should have seen mold on this sauce when pouring it in the container.

The pho bo vien here is amazing. The meatballs are flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the broth has an aromatic depth that's unforgettable.

    MOLD
    Cherrelle M.

I've lived in Gastonia for 3 years and thought I found a nice Vietnamese spot for pho. WRONG. 1. I called in my order and went to pick it up. No one greeted me open entering. The tables had leftover dishes from other customers. I waited at the counter about 8minutes before someone came to acknowledge me. (I saw my order sitting on the pickup area, so I could've easily got my order and walked out. If I was a dishonest person I would have since I didn't feel welcomed anyway) 2. When I picked up my bag and paid, my total was $34. I ordered 2 summer rolls and a bowl of pho, so I figured it was a high price due to the amount of food. 3. When I got home, there were 2 sets of summer rolls instead of a total of 2 and THERE WAS MOLD IN MY DIPPING SAUCE!! 4. I called to inform the owner and when I told him who I was he hung up on me. I tried calling back 4 times and the line went straight to voicemail each time; even after waiting a couple of minutes between each call. I will NEVER return to this place and I'm so sad I wasted my money with no compensation or accountability from the owner.

THAI TEA COMBO PHO (DAC BIET)
    Jennifer N.

So delicious! They made their Thai tea fresh every morning by boiling real Thai tea and half/half for milk. The combo was yummy, brisket had tender meat and some fatty parts meatball was cooked perfectly and filet was perfectly medium rare. I loved that they have a separate container for chili oil because sometimes sriracha can ruin the flavor of a good broth. 10/10, I crave their seasoned broth every week. Be patient with their customer service, they are a small business that just changed ownership in the past year and lost some staff due to lazy workers.

    Lemongrass grilled PORK BANH MI
    Maddie M.

We only got to pick up some handhelds from here since we needed to eat on the go although I was tempted to get the pho. The bahn mi was delicious! Perfectly seasoned meat and fresh fillings. The shrimp summer rolls with the peanut sauce though were a little underwhelming. Service was great. Our food was ready reasonably fast and the whole process was simple and quick. Parking can be a little tight. I hope to try more food here someday and hopefully update my review with more details!

    Pho Dac Biet
    David D.

Was in Gastonia and found this Vietnamese spot. It's a small place with bench style seating. They had 2 long bench table which was communal. The workers was sitting at the end of our table 2 seats away eating. Then two other tables. The staff seem like they were family. They were really nice. Now to the food. It wasn't the worst or the best Vietnamese I had. The Pho was fatty like I like it but it was lacking in strong flavor so if you like a light broth this is for you. They didn't give much protein. Was a couple of small slices of brisket and filet. A meatball that was cut into 4 and that was it. My gripe with this place is that it's close to Charlotte but the price was really crazy. 19 dollars for a Pho Dac Biet when most place in Charlotte are 14 dollars and below. You would think going to a smaller place in a small town would be less but it's not. Now don't get me wrong if it was knock my socks off Pho I wouldn't have minded. But honestly if this Pho was more like 12 dollars I would maybe edge to a 4 star but because of the price of all the food I don't find value in the place. If you are in Gastonia you are super limited for Vietnamese as this is the only place I know. With that said if you are dying for Vietnamese food and unable to drive down the street to Charlotte it will be do!

This place is consistently amazing. I usually get the banh mi, summer roll, and/or vermicelli salad. I've been coming here for a couple years and I've never been disappointed..

Absolutely delicious Pho! I just happened to see this restaurant while driving by, I looked up reviews and decided we had to try it. SO glad we did! Excellent service, super fresh, broth is so flavorful! We will definitely be back!

Traditionally I get chicken, but to today I decided that the Beef; it was buss'n (per kidz). It was so savory with a hint of cinnamon (least I thought). The richness wasn't expected nor was the freshness of the bean sprouts. I typically hate them but these were fresh and had a great bite. I used them to indulge in the crunch. The noods were square and not round. I thought that was unique as I have traditionally only had round. The Beef wasn't as tender as I'm used to but decent. The broth was the star for me. I really enjoyed the Pho. In addition, I got Goyza which was savory and indulgent. They were a tad overcooked but I like the texture of the bite it creates. The Eggrolls were a disappointment. They had absolutely no flavor but we're cooked beautifully. Nice light fry and not over cooked. The dipping sauce was too gelatinous for me. I would definitely give them a try. Its a small Cafe so don't expect mom and pop as I did. Its more fast-food style. My waitress (Kim) was efficient and sweet. She managed the front house, waited tables and busted tables so if it's busy give her grace.

This consistency is not merely convenient: it's a commitment. We had ordered a side of crunchy noodles, unaware that every bowl of Wonton Soup arrived already accompanied by them. The result was a surplus that we gladly consumed and saved more for leftovers. The soup itself was a masterclass in nostalgia: steaming, plump dumplings submerged in a broth with a strong pleasant flavor punctuated by the sharp fresh bite of scallions. For the main course, I explored the Bulgogi Steak, served with tortillas. The meat possessed a surprising, sophisticated sweetness, nestled amongst a garden of onions so plentiful they promised to enrich several meals yet to come. My companion's Dinner Sushi Combo was equally impressive; the sashimi featured generous, thick cuts of fish that spoke of undeniable quality and freshness. Even the beverages offered their own narrative. The Hot Tea was bitter yet pleasant, a sharp contrast to the Southern Sweet Tea, which remains a high standard of local craft. While the Crispy Calamari leaned heavily into salt and onion, and the Crab Rangoons were reliably filling, the overall experience far exceeded the baseline of fusion dining. The Verdict: Jia Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar does more than merely occupy a slot on a Monday calendar; it excels. It provides high-quality, fresh ingredients and nostalgic comforts at a time when the rest of the city's culinary scene has largely gone quiet. Between the "unholy" generosity of the portions and the technical precision of the sashimi, it remains a staple of my consistent rotation for a reason. Rating: 5/5 Stars

I mean, it's palatable if you're hungry, but if I want to enjoy good fried rice, this isn't it. First, it's not cooked completely, so yay for eating semi-hard, raw rice. Secondly, it definitely seemed they just put the pork on top of an already half-made fried rice. I found myself using ALOT of the duck sauce and soy sauce. The rice was with the butterfly shrimp; the breading is by far one of the worst I'vehad, and to add, how does fried shrimp actually get mushy internally? I ended up throwing away the five shrimp that were left because I couldn't handle the mushy mess. I also wasn't sure the egg roll that came with my husband's order would be good, so that went in the trash as well. My husband had the General Tso's chicken and pork fried rice. We asked for it extra spicy, extra sauce, and um, the spice is a joke. He said the General Tso's was subpar, something you would eat if you were starving. We had fried cheese wontons that tasted as if they were reheated in a microwave. You know how breading, like on pizza or bread in general, gets chewy when heated in a microwave. I feel bad for having to write this review, but I don't only post negative reviews. I post honest reviews that tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I can honestly say this restaurant is now on my list of places I will "NEVER GO" again. When my husband went to get the food, I'd say at least they were very nice. The restaurant itself could definitely benefit from some repairs.
