I've been going to Bep-pa's for years. I think I'm one of their most loyal customers. I've made it a point to try different things on their menu, just so that I don't miss out on anything. Last night I ordered the Thai Noodle Soup (Bún Thái). It was delicious. Definitely a different flavor than the other dishes. It was spicy, but not hot spicy. I would order it again. My wife is stuck on the green curry. She orders that most of the time, she loves it so much. By the way, these were takeout orders. If you want to try something different, give them a try. read more

This is a restaurant I've been wanting to drive. Last night, my son and I decided that we would travel to Gastonia and try some dishes. When we arrived, they were not busy and their customer service seemed to be lacking. We were sat down quickly and given menus but the waitress didn't come back to get our order for about 10 minutes. They do have several types of Pho soups, which I really enjoy. My son ordered a Pad Thai. When his arrived it didn't have typical Pad Thai noodles which was a mistake. We brought this to their attention thinking the dish would be remade but it wasn't offered. I had an order of their summer rolls which was good and I also ordered Pho Kay Kho, beef combination which was a spicy Pho. Both meals and the appetizer or plated and presented well. How Pho I had overall was good and I even added extra spice to the soup. Overall, both meals were good, but it didn't really live up to the rave reviews that I had read. The server could have checked on us a couple more times and refreshed our drinks. The interior appeared to be rundown, just a little, but not enough to make me go somewhere else. If I am ever in this area and would like Asian/Thai food, I would probably stop again. I would prefer another couple of my favorite restaurants that serve Pho over Bep-pa's. You'll see the photograph the presentation was nice. The food was good however, there were some customer service issues along with the interior portion of the restaurant could be cleaned up just a little bit more. Facebook ad brought me in. I decided today was the day to sample! They definitely over hyped. It was amazing marketing. It was a good decision. It was good but not great. Traditionally I get chicken, but to today I decided that the Beef; it was buss'n (per kidz). It was so savory with a hint of cinnamon (least I thought). The richness wasn't expected nor was the freshness of the bean sprouts. I typically hate them but these were fresh and had a great bite. I used them to indulge in the crunch. The noods were square and not round. I thought that was unique as I have traditionally only had round. The Beef wasn't as tender as I'm used to but decent. The broth was the star for me. I really enjoyed the Pho. In addition, I got Goyza which was savory and indulgent. They were a tad overcooked but I like the texture of the bite it creates. The Eggrolls were a disappointment. They had absolutely no flavor but we're cooked beautifully. Nice light fry and not over cooked. The dipping sauce was too gelatinous for me. I would definitely give them a try. Its a small Cafe so don't expect mom and pop as I did. Its more fast-food style. My waitress (Kim) was efficient and sweet. She managed the front house, waited tables and busted tables so if it's busy give her grace. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful lunch here. I got the vegan peanut stir fry with white rice and tofu, the vegan cali roll, and the vegan crunchy tofu roll. We shared the vegan bahn bao that had the softest bun and the vegetarian Japanese fritters. My husband got the shrimp tempura roll, Carolina roll, and the Anakin roll. The place was comfy and our waitress was very nice. The food came out hot and quick. You have to ask for the vegan menu, but they have a ton of options. We will definitely be back! read more

The reason this place is rated so highly is bc it's in Gastonia and the folks there must have no clue what Asian food should be... Once again, another fusion spot that is actually confusion... This is a Chinese owned restaurant that serves up Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese food...try to. Got the pho combo, kids got the kids pho with meatballs, and the wife got the #1 pad Thai in Gastonia (as named). Along with eggrolls and gyoza as appetizers. Pho was steaming hot coming out but the broth was not hot; could drink the broth and not burn your mouth. Meatballs still cool on the inside. This pho is one of the worst ive ever had. The broth had no flavor and tasted as if I was drinking hot steaming water. And on top of that, I got nothing but broken noodles. Insulting to call it pho. The kids sort of enjoyed it since it was very plain and had meatballs in it. 1/10 easily. #1 pad Thai in Gastonia- well it could be the the #1 as there probably isn't any competition lol. This was super wet for pad Thai and the shrimp were cold. 1/10. Eggrolls- these def had taro in them as they were very starchy. 4/10 Gyoza- prob the best thing we got. Definitely can tell they're prepped before hand and pan seared to order. 6/10 Overall, Gastonia is lucky to have this place???? lol it's pretty bad tho. Food was pleasantly delicious! We thought this would be another Asian fusion restaurant but the flavor and spice was there! We went during peak dinner rush and the service was slow. We waited a long time for our food and our water never got refilled. But they were also short staffed with only one waitress-who was soooo friendly and sweet. I've watched the owner do Facebook videos over the past 6 months, and kept saying I wanted to try. Today was the day, and it was a great experience. It was quiet, kind of dark, and there isn't a whole lot of food smell in the dining area, so I was a little skeptical as we waited to order. That skepticism being quickly turned to the thought that the must have a pretty good ventilation system because the flavors of all of the fragrant things you can think of were definitely there! We started with the potato/corn cakes. I'm a texture person, so I didn't care for them. They have a great crunch, but the inside is like mashed potato. The sauce they're served with added more flavor, on their own there wasn't much. We also had the Vietnamese spring rolls, which were very flavorful. For entrees my husband chose the Spicy Korean Fried Rice with chicken. It wasn't really spicy, but it was flavorful. He enjoyed it. I ordered the Vietnamese Rice Bowl with chicken, and this was a first, and a fast favorite. The freshness of the vegetables, the cilantro, the flavorful chicken, along with the Vietnamese vinaigrette, all on the clean vehicle of steamed jasmine rice, I was beyond pleased! It's something that I will order often! We also got a side of the kimchi. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't my favorite. I was missing a little spice. Excellent fresh and affordable sushi rolls. Easy vegan and vegetarian options but the vegan phô is the tits. You have to ask for it.

It's a good quick fix for Vietnamese food. A small selection but not that bad. I'm from California, so of course I have had better.

I have been looking forward to trying this restaurant since they opened, but haven't made it until now. The atmosphere left something to be desired. Upon walking in, the sign said please wait to be seated. So we stood there waiting for a few minutes and the girl comes from the back and says sit wherever you want. There is a corner of the restaurant filled with books for a free book exchange. Behind the counter, visible to the customer is overflow of products. TLDR: ambiance is lacking. For food, we started with the egg rolls. They had a great crunch on the outside and were hot! However, the filling was lacking. It didn't taste "fresh" with veggies and flavor. For entrees, I had the Bibimbap with beef. This was just okay in my opinion. The temperature of the food was lukewarm. I'm not sure if my entree was ready first, and they were waiting for my husbands to be ready, but either way was a little off putting. It also didn't have much flavor. It came with a side of sauce, and when added it still didn't add much flavor. My husband got the house special pad Thai, and said it was "okay." He said it was too sweet for him. We did also try to order the Japanese fritters which were a special, but unfortunately they did not have them. We were disappointed about this experience and will probably not come back as there are other Asian restaurants nearby that we've had more positive experiences at. read more

My husband really enjoyed his fried rice. Cooked just right. I had Vietnamese noodle bowl with 3 meats. I didn't like the quality of the chicken or beef and the shrimp seasoning they used to sauté I didn't like. The summer rolls were a good size and delicious. Peanut butter sauce was good and thick. I wouldn't get the Vietnamese tea again. For the cost and the taste didn't seem worth it. Plus seems very sweet and orange in color. Bill was $60. This was lunch. I would says that pretty expensive for a strip mall. Oh one more thing I went in the bathroom to wash my hands and it aaa disgusting!!!!!! Old dirty smelled weird. And looked like homeless people take a wash up in the sink or something. They need to upgrade the bathroom and just clean it period. If you are looking for great food at a great price, this is it! I always order their Shumai, it is shrimp dumplings and so fresh. We get the same amount of dumplings as some of the other Asian style restaurants in the area for a whole lot less money! They are served with a nice dipping sauce, you've got to try them. Then we ordered the Combo #102, California roll, Crunchy Roll and a Crab cream cheese roll. Each roll is a full roll with 8 pieces. . ALL THREE ROLLS FOR $16.50!!! Not 16.50 each! Pho is one of favorite go-to's. But our favorite spot is in Conover and we decided to look for something local to Gaston County. Bep-pa had good reviews so we gave it a go! I was interested in a Thai tea (since a sign on their door recommended it), but they were out of dairy free milk, so I didn't get it. As far as food, we ordered a combo pho, chicken pho, kids chicken pho and chicken fried rice. All of the portions are large, including the kids size, which is great! (Note: the kids chicken pho was in a darker broth that looked like beef broth, which was interesting to me.) The kids size is actually fit for an adult, IMO. However, the toppings they offered were not nearly enough to use for the large bowl sizes. We asked for extra jalapeños and limes and got 3 slices of jalapeños more and 2 tiny lime slices. We didn't bother asking for more. I found the chicken fried rice delicious. It was more flavorful than other places I've tried. But I found myself adding everything on the table to give my pho some flavor. We also had to get up to get our own napkins and chopsticks because no one was around. I didn't finish my pho, and neither did my kids, who love pho as much as I do. Our check was brought before we had a chance to think about the mochi ice cream I saw on their menu. We paid and left. Wow. If you have not yet stopped in to Bep-pa, you are missing out! I stopped in for carry-out today after receiving a personal letter from the owner which I would assume had been sent to all homeowners in our area. I appreciated that the owner had taken the time to reach out to the local residents, so I thought I would give it a try. I preface my comments by stating that I am not in any way a connoisseur of Vietnamese food. So I cannot tell you if the dishes tasted as they are "should", I can only tell you how great they were. I ordered the Masaman Curry and the Goi Cuon. My order was ready within ten minutes. I've had many varieties of Curry, but I would say the Masaman Curry I had at Bep-pa is among the best I have ever had. All ingredients were fresh, and the flavor of the sauce was both full-bodied and creamy/smooth. I think I could eat this every day. The curry was also served with jasmine rice on the side. The Goi Cuon was delicious as well. Fresh ingredients, nice cilantro kick, and served with peanut sauce. Portions for both items were ample...I have enough leftover for a snack later. Everything about this meal was spot on. Fast, friendly service, EXCELLENT food and fair prices. read more

Fussy eater here! AMAZING PAD THAI!!!! I am so excited to find an authentic Thai dish! I ordered it with shrimp and tofu and it did not disappoint. The shrimp were cooked to perfection.
