Realized I had not been to Pho Nam in a couple years! So many places close, or become unrecognizable after such a passage time, but not this place! My favorite 2-top was open and I sat right down. I enjoy the view next to the window, but I recalled that in mid summer this table gets oppressively hot from the sun. Shrimp roll with peanut sauce as delightful as I recalled. Price and size is right for one person. Ordered rare beef pho. Arrived in about 5 mins. I love pho, and have slopped it all over my shirt in many countries around the world. I prefer my food spicy. A spicy version is not offered on the menu, but be warned that the jalapeños served in the side are proper hot. Sriracha on every table but I have not needed it. I have a spot in DC where the pho might be a little more authentic but Cornelius is way closer for lunch. read more

The Pho was salty and maybe not right for people with hypertension or high blood pressure. The price of the menu is moderately priced. The place is a little bit run down. So if you are looking for ambiance this is not the place. I only ordered pho and fresh spring roll so I can't say for the rest of the menu. The service was good. read more

tasty, hot, and quick. food is oh baby good! service is fast and friendly! clean little place with a handful of tables and a fountain out back (in front?) but what keeps me coming back is the overhead; imagine the very best pre-century american muzak-y musics in a retro K-pop vibe (if there was such a thing) and yeah, it's like that... didn't have "the soup" for a change because, well, I dunno, I just didn't. instead I had the rolled beef with onions over rice and it still came with a cup of soup! so good on them! the light clear broth with scallion and onion just needed a matzoh ball to be perfect... finger sized roll of tender beefs with oniony centers seasoned and browned and served across a medium-big pile of rice like the rice I make at home (your mileage may vary) with an assortment of shreds on the side: carrot, onion, lettuce, and a few nice slabs of cucumber. I would add a bit of lightly brined dikon but that's just me... oh so very good and proof that there may be more to life than pho :-) read more

Popped in for lunch today. Very friendly, efficient service. I had a shrimp summer roll, fresh, bright and just right with very good peanut sauce. I also had pho tai - the broth was perfectly spiced and luscious, plenty of thinly sliced beef and fresh toppings. I've always enjoyed my visits and look forward to coming back. read more

It's a real hidden gem--nothing fancy, just a cozy, authentic spot that feels very much like a classic Asian eatery. You seat yourself, and the staff brings water to your table. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet, Goi Cuon (fresh shrimp rolls), Goi Cuon Dau Hu (fresh tofu rolls), and Tau Hu Xao Xa Ot (tofu with lemongrass and hot pepper). Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The pho had a rich broth with generous portions of meat, and the rolls were light and refreshing. Cannot forget the peanut sauce, it brings a lot to the rolls. The tofu dish had a great balance of spice and aroma from the lemongrass. First time here because I was in the area. Went based off places I googled. I order the pho dac biet and it was pretty decent. They have pretty decent amount of things on their menu. I wouldn't go here again just because it's not my cup of tea. It is a smaller spot. The food did come out quick. I was pretty full after eating the whole bowl. They share parking with other businesses. It seems like it was just the son and the dad working who is probably the cook. The service is good. He was nice and accommodating. Visited for a quick dinner after an office event last week and was so delighted at how delicious this little place is! Pho Nam is tucked in a small shopping center, has plenty of parking, and very friendly staff. Our food came out lightning fast even though they seem to be working with a small crew. The interior was clean and functional. It appeared that they have a lot of repeat customers judging by the easy conversations. Our food was prepared well. The egg rolls are crispy and handmade. I hate a frozen eggroll. On the menu, they are called Cha Goi, don't miss those! Com Ga Nuong is essentially chicken and rice, which I know I know, very vanilla. But man, it was just delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the chicken was tender and spiced perfectly. There isn't sauce, which for me was a drawback, but my daughter preferred it over her saucy dish. Ga Xao Xa Ot is lemongrass chicken that is a little spicy, but certainly not too much to handle. So flavorful, and a great introduction to this restaurant. I feel like I'll venture out a little more on my next visit since these entrees were so solid. Can't wait to go back soon! read more

If I were you... I would try to find the smallest hole in the wall kind of place for some great pho... Like pho nam! I have to admit, I partially had to write this review so I could point out that "pho nam" is the start of a really great pun like "pho-nom"-enal. Heh...heh...ehh... I FINALLY convinced Partner that Vietnamese food is a good idea for our eat-out night (he likes it, just not enough to choose it over stuff like pizza and hamburgers...). I don't think I've had pho in over a year!! I'm glad I chose this place too because of an interaction I had with them over a year ago. When we visited Charlotte back when to convince Partner that this was going to be our new home, I lured him into loving Charlotte by going to a pay to play board game store (which has sadly closed now). We played for HOURS and we supplemented our caffeine/sugar fix with bubble tea from this place. I remember them being SO nice because we said we would be back to pick up the drinks but would be at the game place... AND THE GUY WALKED THEM OVER FROM ACROSS THE PLAZA. He was my hero that night. Anyway, I didn't realize that this was the same place until we drove up and saw the hungry howies. The pho was a good size. Lots of noodles. More of a savory beefy broth (which I like) as opposed to spiced or sweet. Everything was spot on but the rare beef was PHO-NOM-ENAL! Very thinly sliced, high quality beef that melted in the mouth. And mind you, it was that good even after eating it probably 45 min after it was prepared (darned traffic!!). Crispy egg rolls were small but delicious. Partner liked his Korean beef entree too. Next time I go, I will definitely try the bun noodle bowl with egg rolls bc I'm pretty sure it'll be banging. Looking forward to my next visit. Give these really nice people a try! read more

We were just passing through the area, so we decided to stop here and grab something hot to warm up the body for breakfast. We had the spring rolls, rare beef pho, and broken rice with grill pork chop. Food came out pretty fast, which means everything is pre-cooked, and they just warm it up. The server was really nice and outgoing. The spring roll was horrible. The bean sprouts were all starting to turn brown, there were only a few pieces of shredded lettuce and 2 halves of a shrimp, but the peanut sauce was pretty good. My wife had the pho so I can't really comment on it, and I had the rice. I never had broken rice with pork chop that had a sweet thicken sauce on the pork chop and rice so you can only taste the sauce and nothing else. We were still eating when the server dropped the check at our table, which made us feel like we were rushed. After 20 minutes after we left the restaurant, my wife, son and I started feeling extremely parch (the 3 of us have a reaction to msg which dry out our mouth). Not sure how much msg was in the food but 12 hours later, im still feeling parch. read more

Disappointing and mediocre at best. Was really looking forward to some good quality pho since moving to NC :( unfortunately our meals simply didn't taste fresh. The bean sprouts looked like they had been out for a while and were already starting to develop a darker hue. The Pho Dac Biet's supposed to be their special combo bowl but it had 0 ZERO tripes. We had low expectations coming to this place to be honest. We've had a lot of viet food from all over and wanted to try a new place. We decided to take the risk and drive out to Cornelius and give it a shot. We got a table outside (outdoor seating available) because it was so nice out. The waiter was fast and friendly. We ordered vermicelli combo, beef pho, fried rice, and a ginger rice plate. My husband took one sip of the pho broth and turned to me, eyes wide open. I kid you not, he said "my life has been turned upside down." He has a solid pho spot in Hickory, NC and no other place has ever come close to beating it. This was the first time he admitted to anything rivaling his usual pho spot. We went on to try the other dishes which were BOMB. I've had vermicelli all across the nation (my favorite viet dish) and I found myself really enjoying the meat and fish sauce. The noodles were a bit too thin for my taste but nonetheless, not an issue amidst the delicious sauce, meat, and egg roll. We got the check in a timely manner and the waiter kindly packed our leftovers for us. Five stars. Will be back to try more! read more

My boyfriend an I are avid lovers of pho. We have only experienced three restaurants with this delicious dish but this resteraut by far is the absolute best. The food was amazing, the best pho I have ever tasted. The broth was drinkable all on its own. Our food came out quickly and the servers were amazing. I believe the owner was who talked to us as we were living we told him we would be back again and he smiled and called us family. The pho and atmosphere here is comforting and warm! I highly recommend coming here if you love pho and need to be cheered up!! If you want a great bowl of Pho, this is a good place to check out. The broth was very flavorful with a great portion of tender protein. They also offer extra noodles or protein if you see fit. The service was very quick as well, about 10 minutes after sitting and ordering, our food was presented to us. A couple negatives for this spot however, the decor was a bit dirty, with very old and torn chairs and not the cleanliness ambiance. This has to be one of the best places to get Pho in Cornelius. This family owned restaurant makes home made pho that's really as good as home made. The owners are super friendly and will make you feel like you've been invited into their dinning room for a bite to eat. I've been eating here for 3 years now and not once did I feel the quality changed or wasn't as good as the last time. Big fan of the Pho tai with the beef balls and the appetizers are all delicious. Another place that I drive by at least 5 times a week but, until yesterday, had never tried. I've not had much experience with Vietnamese food before outside of a few Bahn Mi sandwiches over the years and was excited to further stretch my culinary legs. My wife and I came around lunchtime on a Saturday and were the only customers until the end of our meal when a family came in. She ordered a cold noodle dish with chicken, Bun Ga Nuong Xa and I got a Shrimp spring roll and Pho Tai which is a rare beef Pho. I loved the spring roll, we both loved her dish and I thought the Pho was just ok. BUT... Don't take it from me that it's not good Pho cause I really have no idea. It just was not a flavor profile that I enjoy. The service was quick efficient and the food came out quickly. As we were leaving an older man came out of the kitchen, thanked us for coming in, made sure we enjoyed everything and offered us free drinks to go out of the cooler. A very nice touch! Pho Nam lives up to the hype so many have built around it with these great reviews. My group arrived 49 minutes before close, but we were welcomed with open arms. The staff was super friendly and efficient. The food was to die for. We got the spicy chicken, chicken pho, beef rice dish, and curry chicken. All dishes were flavorful and ample. The broth for the Pho was on point...awesome flavor. The spicy chicken had a nutty sweetness, but good spice. I didn't personally try the others, but members of my party really enjoyed them. I hadn't been back to this place in 8 years for a reason. I was craving Pho and didn't want to drive 30 mins to Charlotte. I wanted to try the new place in Mooresville hello me but it was closed due to gas emergency. Pho NC was closed on Monday so next best option was Pho Nam. Ordered the combination beef pho and two shrimp spring rolls. Realized the prices were fairly cheap. Pho was a little bland. The meat was cooked pretty good. Give it 7/10. The shrimp spring roll was so bad. It was so thin. The rice paper was chewy. It tasted like they rolled up Lettuce with one shrimp cut in half. Did not taste any other vegetables. The sauce was excellent though. That made it edible. 2.5/10. I went to Hello. Me two days later. It's a little more expensive but that place was much better and worth the extra money.
