I ordered food right before closing because my family was starving. The guy who took my order sounded polite and genuine at first. However, while I was still there, I overheard someone in the background say that you can put toast on a grill that has grill cleaner on it "because it can kill," and another person responded, "it's ok, this what they get." That was extremely disturbing to hear. I did not feel safe accepting food after hearing that. I immediately drove away and will not be returning. It's a shame that the staff is in such a rush to get you out of their line that the quality of the experience suffers. The food is what you'd expect, but the fact that I asked for a few extra napkins at the window and the lady just kept repeating "you've got napkins in the bag" like I didn't hear her. And the kicker is she rushed to handing me a soda with the lid not properly put on. The drink got all over me and THATS why I was requesting the extra napkins. She was just interested in having an attitude while I just didn't want to have to deal with hers in explaining the situation once it was clear she wasn't interested in resolving anything professionally. I ordered through the mobile app & told the worker at the speaker of the order. She confirmed the order was for a salad and asked me to drive around. I get to the window she told me it is $10.35. Then a few seconds later she said oh you had the mobile order. It's not ready pull up to the parking spot and we will bring it out. I waited while customer after customer got their order delivered. Many even pulled up after I got there and still got their food before me. Some cars had multiple bags of food. I drove back around and went to the window again at 4:00 (I have been waiting since 3:25). I told the worker I have not received my food and have been here since 3:25. OK, so had I written this review when I first went here, I probably would've given it 3 stars. That's because I hadn't experienced Raising Cane's yet. I didn't know what was up when it comes to the chicken finger game. In fact, I went to Zaxby's because I had heard about it for years, but we don't have them in CA, and I like to visit regionally-bound restaurant/fast-food chains when I'm traveling. It was definitely not what I was expecting. I got a 4-finger plate, and asked for the fries crispy. It was OK. I think one of the things that turned me off was the fact that everything was just OK. Nothing amazing. They didn't have other side options that I'd hope for (something like mac & cheese, or mashed potatoes/gravy), and their fries were limp. Also, I hadn't been prepped that you have to pay for sauces (which, apparently is a thing at these finger joints); in CA, most of the places will hand out whatever sauces you want (as will Chick-Fil-A), and only the shady/stingy ones make you pay for sauces (it's a pet peeve of mine). That being said, I was whelmed - not over or under, just whelmed. But, I probably would've ended up with a 3-star review, had I reviewed it in October 2016, when I went. Now, having experienced the glory of Cane's, it just doesn't hold up (in my memory, at least). Maybe going back, I could now have a fair comparison, but I just don't see myself forsaking Cane's. read more

The best fast food chicken ever! This place is better than Chick-fil-A actually, and that's saying a lot because I love them. Their chicken is nice and moist, and the batter is very seasoned. They also have great cole slaw. Another bonus is their Texas Toast! It comes on their sandwiches and also on the side with their chicken strip baskets. You can also get a basket of the toast. It's got a hint of garlic to it, but not so much that it overpowers the chicken or anything. Apparently the service is hit-or-miss but I've been lucky, every time I've been there (both the lobby and drive-through) I've had decent service. As a plus, when you get your food through the drive-through, they include plastic forks (if you ordered cole slaw or salads) and napkins. So many places "forget" to give this kind of stuff to you most times, either in a cost-cutting measure or laziness on the part of the bagger. Also as a heads up, their drinks are very generous. Don't get the large unless you're really thirsty, it's 42 ounces. Even the medium is huge at 32 ounces. read more

It's a decent fast food alternative to the rest of the chain gang. Zaxby's is mainly found in the Southern states. (Another chain I wouldn't mind seeing in Chicago) This location is found in a pretty popular shopping area, though surprisingly not busy. I guess in comparison to Chic-fil-A, it's not as appealing, mainly due to most thinking they are only about chicken fingers. It's definitely prettier than Chic-Fil-A but with less offerings. Looking at the drive up window, I thought is it just chicken fingers and salads?? I should've walked in and looked around, had I, maybe I would've noticed that they have alot of fiery sauces for wings and fingers. Wing sauce, MMhmmm. Prices seemed a little high, and their menu is mostly salads and chicken dinners. Me and my wife had our orders screwed up a few times on trips there, but it was towards the end of my Zaxby's run that the screwups went to another level.
