There's definitely no shortage of chicken spots around here. Between Zaxby's, Guthrie's, Raising Cane's, Slim Chickens, and Chick-fil-A, the competition is strong. Because of that, I pretty much expected Waldo's to follow the same formula: chicken strips, fries, Texas toast, and slaw -- and that's exactly what I got. The chicken strips were flavorful and really good. I also liked that they weren't oversized like some other places. The fries were a little different from the usual crinkle-cut style you get elsewhere. They seemed fresh-cut, very thin, and surprisingly good. The slaw was just okay -- not bad, but nothing especially memorable and a bit too dry for my taste. And of course, the Texas toast was exactly what you'd expect: buttery and solid. Overall, the food was pretty good. I visited on a Friday night, and apparently that's karaoke night, so just know it gets LOUD. People were singing, dancing, and clearly having a great time, which made for a fun atmosphere, but if you're looking for a quiet dine in dinner, Friday night probably isn't the best time to go. The restaurant also has plenty of TVs throughout the dining and bar area, which makes it a great spot to watch a game. You order when you enter and they bring the food to your table. I've been wanting to try this place for a while because I've heard good things about it. I made it there right before the lunch hour and there were already quite a few law enforcement professionals having lunch. I was greeted warmly and my to go order taken. As I waited,I was able to get a good vibe from this place, I bet it could be a great after work meet up with the happy hour specials they have. I ordered The OG Sandwich with the greens on the side. TLDR: great service, good food and drinks, reasonable prices Went there on a weekday afternoon to grab a few drinks and ended up staying for dinner. They had happy hour 3-6 and again at 7. There was a decent beer selection and stocked bar. The place is rather large with most people going to tables or getting take out but the bar top only has about ten seats. The bartender was very friendly and attentive to when my drink was running low. I ended up ordering the Foul Mouth sandwich for dinner. It was good but not overly spicy and a little dry on the edges. Overall well exceeded expectations. I saw several large groups enter so good for both big and small parties. Recommend trying if you're up for fried chicken sandwiches or tenders. read more

Waldo's has super tender chicken tenders and great dipping sauces, but they are so stingy with them. Tonight I wanted to try something different so I ordered the chicken and biscuits appetizer. The menu says that it is chicken bites and 4 cheddar biscuits. They also sell their cheddar biscuits alone and the menu boasts about them coming with honey butter. Well, I assumed the honey butter would come with the chicken and biscuits, but that is NOT the case. As you can see from the pictures, chicken "bites" is just a shredded chicken tender. It was highly disappointing and hard to eat as you couldn't really dip the shredded pieces. When I asked about the honey butter, we were told we would have to go back to the counter and purchase it as it doesn't come with the meal. They do this same thing with their dipping sauces. The quantity of food is great, but they only give you a tiny container of sauce. We end up going back to the register several times to purchase additional sauce as they charge for each one. While the food is good, they are a little ridiculous about the upcharges on their sauces. read more

My husband and I were driving through Memphis on a road trip and decided to stop at this Waldo's location for dinner! I've been to Waldo's several times in Nashville and Franklin, and knew we'd be able to enjoy a quick, hearty dinner that give us the fuel we needed to make it back home. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza, and looks to be pretty new! It's huge inside with plenty of seating available, and even a small arcade area with some family-friendly games. We ordered at the counter for dine-in - and our food was delivered hot and fresh to our booth in about 10 minutes! We started with an order of the Cheddar Biscuits. These are soft, pillowy, cheesy ... and they pair excellently with the honey butter. Although I love Waldo's tenders, we opted for sandwiches on this visit. I ordered the "Roost" for myself, and swapped the Alabama white sauce for their Comeback sauce. My husband went with the "Fowl Mouth" spicy chicken sandwich, which definitely lives up to its name. The Mac N Cheese and Collared Greens we ordered on the side were also quite tasty. The restaurant itself wasn't too busy when we stopped in, but the team working that evening was especially friendly! We'd absolutely stop here again the next time we're in the Cordova area. read more

Service was great the guy was very accommodating there was a slight mix up when receiving our initial order and he made things right and made sure we were good. The establishment was a little dirty it did seem as though they may have been short staffed, not seeing an official person cleaning the tables. We did have to wipe our table and booth seats because no one was available at the time. Now onto the food. The fries were bomb I personally loved my fries, not overly crunchy just perfect, the chicken not so much. You only taste the sauce on the outside, but the chicken itself was pretty bland and fatty . The sauce choice we had was pretty good (buffalo lemon pepper & sweet Thai chili). I guess you have to request your chicken to be fried hard (we wanted to experience this restaurant as is no special request). Overall, I'm glad we came out to try this restaurant. My brother kept telling me to stop by and try this place so I FINALLY did! It was a pretty good experience! We arrived and ordered at the counter with a very nice cashier. I decided to order the 1/4 chicken plate with white meat with Mac and cheese and slaw! The Mac and cheese was pretty good but the slaw was definitely lacking. I'll avoid that one next time. The little cheddar biscuit that comes with it was so cute and soft but also lacking in much flavor. My chicken breast was pretty good and very crunchy!! Only thing is, the further I got into it, the more I realized that it wasn't completely done to my personal liking. I like my chicken easy to pull apart! My brother recommends the chicken tenders instead of the bone in chicken, so I'll give that a try next time. It's a cute vibe and very spacious in there. Walking into Waldo's the layout hadn't changed a lot from the past tenant. Notable additions were some arcade games that I noted my nieces and nephews would love to go play. It's an order at the counter and they bring you your food establishment similar to the Newk's that used to reside at this space. Looking at the menu, I was expecting fried chicken and maybe a grilled chicken, but the rotisserie option took me by surprise. I opted for the plate with a quarter white chicken, two sides, and cheddar biscuit. I wish I had taken a photo before I dived in. Then you would have been able to see the beautifully browned chicken skin that only happens in a rotisserie. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I tried the Alabama white sauce and Rooster sauce. Both were yummy! The white sauce had a distinct vinegary taste. The rooster sauce a nice combo of sweet and spice. I probably could have handled more spice especially with a fried chicken, but this was perfect today. The cucumber tomato salad was perfect. Nothing was cut so fine that it lost its individual taste. The potato wedges were excellent. A hint of crunchy with a good seasoned flavor. The biscuit is named incorrectly for this area in my opinion. It's more of a sweet cheddar roll. Name aside, I'll know better and order extra of them next time. They are smaller and like two or three bite-able. I could have easily popped a dozen. The tea? Excellent on a hot summer day. Service? Super friendly and helpful. I was checked on a couple times sitting at my table. It felt friendly and helpful but not pushy or excessive. The chicken plate was around $12 and extra for the drink which is a good price for the meal as fresh and unprocessed as it felt. Overall, I'm excited to have a restaurant at this price point in this area and hope they do well. I can't wait to bring my family back. read more

My wife and I ordered carry out today from Waldo's. I usually don't choose to eat fried chicken, but I ordered a half fried chicken plate today and it was awesome. I would definitely order it again here. It is moist and flavorful, not at all greasy, and is at the top of the list of fried chicken that I have ever eaten. She had the roasted chicken but we both preferred the fried choice even though the roasted version is also good. The coleslaw was also very good as were the potato wedges.
