I tried them out for the first time. I was hungry and in the neighborhood, so why not. I realized that they only sell boneless chicken. I had the tenders and fries with their special sauce. I stopped by Guthrie's because we had a coupon, it's super close to our house, has a drive thru, and the food sounded delicious. Let me tell you quickly: it did not disappoint! My family of 5 ended up order two boxes (each box comes with chicken strips, fries, coleslaw, and a piece of garlic toast) and a drink and we took it home to split up and eat. It was DIFFICULT to not open up the boxes and eat the food on the way home because it all smelled SO GOOD. The chicken had a great seasoning which I felt like was unique from the places around us. The fries were really good (the kids especially tore those up and we all liked the bread, too, although it was a bit over salted. I was surprised by how delicious their coleslaw and whatever sauce they served with the chicken was. The prices are a little steep but considering how much came in each box it's honestly worth it. Friends, I have been eating chicken tenders since I was a kid. Most of us have. I like chicken tenders for a nice fast casual lunch almost every week. And most of us are very well aware of the chicken tender fast casual places that are available in Memphis. And let me just say, Guthrie's changes the game! At Guthries, get a snack or a box. I recommend the box. It is five tenders, fries, slaw, toast, and sauce. This signature sauce is my favorite signature sauce I have ever had at a chicken tender joint. It is absolutely mouthwatering. Speaking of mouthwatering, the chicken. My goodness the chicken. Succulent, perfectly crispy (with a light breading), juicy. The perfect chicken tender. The slaw is good, the fries are good, but you won't come here for those. You will come here for those perfect chicken tenders. I just ate there, and I am already plotting on when I will come back. I also have to give a shout out to the absolutely magnificent service. The place was jam packed but every employee had a wide smile, and was perfectly gracious, welcoming, and helpful. The prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider the quality! The quality that I can't stop talking about. I have to restrain myself before I compose more prose regarding this amazing chicken. There is more stuff on the menu. You can get whole buckets of these tenders for your gatherings, and honestly I didn't even read the rest of the menu. I will next time. I was too focused on the gastronomic festivities at hand. Sorry, Guthrie's may have been first but Cane's is better. The menus are the same but Guthrie's is a little more expensive. The pros are the chicken and fries was fried well. Light and crispy tenders. The cons are the price and dipping sauce was just meh. I could have saved that money but it was worth the try just to see what the hype was about. Not impressed and won't repeat any time soon. I ordered the $10 box consisting of 5 tenders, toast, fries and a dipping size cup of slaw. The tenders where very small and tasted just like any tenders you would find at your local gas station. The fries where crinkle cut and taste like they where made in a oven from a frozen store bought bag. They weren't bad but I would not rank the taste above any fast food chain. So in summary it wasn't bad but it also wasn't good. The reason I won't repeat is I would much rather spend the same $10 at popeye's and get better tasting fries and chicken fingers at triple the quantity. I was also disappointed that they did not have a working mobile pay option available. Drive thru was quick and the person at the window was very nice. The chicken was very good, but small. They did a good job for what this place is, but the meal is EXACTLY the reason I rarely (less than 10x per year) eat fast food. The value just isn't there for me. Spent $20 on 2 box meals - got 5 small fingers, fries(I hate crinkle cut fries, to each their own), slaw, toast. For a few bucks more, I could've gone to any nearby sit down restaurant and gotten a better value. But I was in a hurry and it was late night, so they got the job done. I went to the other new location off Germantown Rd. near Walnut Grove. It was pretty much empty surprisingly. My husband and I both got the "snack" portion. They had 4 chicken strips, french fries, and their special sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a light crispy breading and very juicy meat inside. The fries were standard crinkle cut fries. The sauce is very similar to Zax sauce from Zaxby's but a bit saltier and onionier... I preferred using ketchup. You have to pay for the drinks separately no matter what meal you get, but everything came out quickly and piping hot! Nearly burned my tongue! Overall a good experience although I personally prefer Zaxby's. Guthrie's literally has like 5 things on the menu. No salad options or any other sides other than fries and coleslaw... Small menu... it's literally just chicken fingers and a chicken finger sandwich. We ordered basically everything to try it out - the snack box, the box, and the chicken sandwich. The box comes with garlic bread, fries, a small side of coleslaw (that tastes exactly like KFCs), and 1 extra tender than the snack box (4 instead of 3). The tenders were dry. I got one tender that was juicy, but the thick breading on the tenders soaked up all the juice when you chewed. The fries were standard. The sandwich was delicious though - this is the way to go. The tenders on the sandwich seemed less breaded and therefore this chicken seemed more juicy. Would I go back? ...probably not. read more

They have a pretty small and simple menu, no deals. Prices are a little high for what you get. Food is good and always fresh (from my past few experiences). They don't include a drink with the meal you get.. Guthrie's doesn't ever seem to be real busy like most other places, I don't see them being around here for a long time as they will probably get beat by Zaxby's... maybe if they would include a drink it would help keep them around in the future. read more

Pretty good place to eat. I was surprised on how small the menu was. The chicken tasted great, very juicy, hot and crispy. The service was great and the staff was super friendly. I ordered a Dr Pepper when I took a drink it was all carbonated and no syrup. I told the guy to just give me a coke that the Dr Pepper was out. He came by my table a few minutes later and said here's a Dr Pepper on the house I replaced it. The restaurant was very clean and didn't have to much going on in there. My only real complaint was the fries. Very bland, thankfully they had plenty of ketchup but it was no big deal. read more
