Pork Burnt End Pulled Pork fries Classic Ribs

I am SO glad we tried something new!! The food was AMAZING! I loved all of the great side options. We tried so many different things and not one was bad. We'll definitely go back next time we're in town.

The entire tray

I went here for an early lunch yesterday and everything was honestly pretty mediocre. I ordered the variety plate with beef brisket, pulled pork, sausage, beef burnt ends, ribs, and a 1/4 chicken with Mac and cheese and burnt ends for the sides. The meat itself was pretty dry overall, aside from the chicken. Most of the burnt ends were too dry and none of them were soft and pillowy. The brisket was also very dry. The sausage was also sliced way too thin, but it was otherwise ok. The ribs felt like they were over cooked. The pulled pork was definitely on the drier side, and the chicken was also not as juicy as it should've been even after being drenched in sauce. As far as sides go, the Mac n cheese was very standard issue, reminding of a Panera bread Mac and cheese, while the baked beans had a weird flavor that was not enjoyable that I couldn't quite put my finger on. There are better BBQ places in KC

Solidly classic taste that is very consistent. Staff is friendly at the counter. Typical clean dinning area that turns em in and out fairly well at lunch time.

Zarda BBQ is a KC staple. The wings are NEW on thier menu ,and they are a hit . Try the turkey crunch sandwich it's delicious. I love how they give back to thier community with every bottle sold going back steps of faith foundation. The service is top tier . Old school vibe but very clean and nostalgic!

After an appointment in the area, I spotted Zarda BBQ and their drive-thru. With a bit of a drive ahead and rush hour approaching, my mom and I figured the drive-thru would be the easiest option and a good chance to try a new restaurant and some ribs. We ordered the half slab of ribs with coleslaw and baked beans. Service was surprisingly quick for BBQ, which was a nice plus. Once we got home and unpacked the bag, we realized we'd been given potato salad instead of the coleslaw. The ribs were placed on a couple slices of bread and wrapped in foil, but unfortunately, they weren't very meaty, so it was hard to get a decent bite. I didn't care for the BBQ sauce or the beans. The potato salad, while not what we ordered, turned out to be pretty decent, so that was good. Loved the convenience of the drive-thru, but overall, the food just didn't hit the mark for me.

Hello BBQ greatness. Amazing flavors. The burnt ends had me drooling. So many choices but favorites have to be the wingz and KC Royal with cheese. Great service.

We always have a wonderful time at Zarda barbecue. You order at the counter and this is one of the few places that doesn't automatically ask you to tip. However, the staff are friendly and efficient. We love their limited selection burn ends. There is an up charge for them, but it is so worth it. They have a great selection of sides. Besides the typical coleslaw, baked beans, French fries, and onion rings, they have corn nuggets, cheesy corn, potato salad, and a few other choices. They have a selection of sauces that is quite varied. I believe one is raspberry flavored and apple flavored. There is a sweet Carolina as well as a spicy and their regular sauce. Don't neglect the bakery items individually wrapped and by each cash register. We've tried different brownies, the peanut butter frosted one is wonderful as is their sugar cookie.

Went to check out Zarda and try their new wings and new sauce, Thunder Berry! Think chipotle meats raspberry. The dusted wins were my absolute fav! And I loved the sauce with my fries and burnt ends. Which burnt ends are always a yes. I also tried the KC Takeaway Sandwich & The KC Royale with cheese. Both start with Burnt Ends and end in goodness. Check out this location for some goodness and great service and the friendliest people including the owner!

Pork burnt ends were well sauced but small, not particularly juicy but definitely not hard or dry. Just sort of meat chunks but not remarkable at all. Not sure why they sell these sort of diet version of the actually delicious BEEF burnt ends they sell. The beef burnt ends were actually juicy and sizeable. They had good flavor but were even better with the maple tasting sweet barbecue sauce. They also sent a non sweet sauce which was not spicy but had good spice flavor and was not bad at all. The cheesy corn was not bad but not great either. Just kinda there. The crispy brussel sprouts were fried and mushy to perfection. Tons of greasy flavor! Will update as we eat. The beef brisket was awful. It was super duper dry even though I specifically requested fatty brisket cuts. Seriously dried my mouth out and I couldn't eat more than a bite. It was just roast beef.

I would consider Zarda fast food bbq. It's not the best in the area but it's also not terrible. If I wanted bbq but was in a hurry, this would be a good option. Plus they have a drive thru and lunch specials. Which is great for a quick midweek lunch break. I tried a large sliced meat sandwich with beef and sausage. It was good sized but it was definitely not as large as I expected. The meat was a bit dry but had good flavor. The Hogie roll held up well with all the meat. The sauce is definitely needed and I really liked theirs. It's classic KC. My boyfriend also got a sandwich but opted for ham so I tried that as well. I think it was my favorite of the three meats. We tried a variety of sides-fries, bbq beans, and mac and cheese. I'm super picky on my bbq beans and these weren't doing it for me. I wasn't a fan of the flavor but others really like it. Definitely personal preference here. The fries were good. They were thickly cut and not greasy. The portion size was a bit small. The Mac and cheese was my favorite of the sides we tried. It was creamy and not overcooked. Again, the portion size was dinky. I could have used a lot more of that! You can also get pickles, which I did! They are .35 a piece or $3.50 for 10. We took it to go but ordered inside. The cashier was helpful. The food was out quickly. The interior is kinda old school cowboy. It was clean. And they have a lot of parking. Or the drive thru.

Always a good experience! First time at this location but for us it was equivalent to the original "gas station" location but with more seating!

I met a couple of friends for dinner tonight at Joe's which did make my visit awesome! You order at a register, then pay, and pick up your food on a tray. A long line moves pretty fast, there's a decent amount of seating. so Zero complaints on service and ambiance. It's basically self serve and the decor is what you'd expect at a BBQ place. I was impressed with how smoothly and quickly it went with a large crowd there for dinner! I like the BBQ but it's not the best I've had. I got a 2 meat platter which comes with 1 side and toasted white bread. The brisket is pre-cut. I always ask for the lean side and the lady at the register said they cut it that way, but it had a lot of fat so I couldn't eat about half of it. The other meat I chose was pulled pork. It was fine. My side was corn. I'd call it Elote but they call it something else. It was very good. It's a small cup so I wish it were more since it was my favorite item of my meal. I also prefer a mustard/vinegar based BBQ sauce and they do not offer that at Joe's unless I somehow missed it but I don't think so. The BBQ sauce is very sweet! I would go back if a group of people I'm with wanted to go, but it's not the BBQ place I would pick for myself. Some of that is personal preference. It may be that you love fat (many do) and sweet BBQ sauce. If that's you, I would recommend you go!

For me, I love seeing and smell the smoke rolling, having the brisket cut in front of you. I prefer my meat warmer as this cooled quite quick. The brisket was cut a little too thin for my liking. You order and get your food quite immediately and sit down wherever to eat, with a lot of tables and chairs inside or outside. The staff constantly made sure I had everything I need, offered me a water cup when I ordered no drink at all, checked in to see how my food was or how I was doing, even when I finished my food they took my tray swiftly with kindness. The hospitality was just perfect. The inside is loud and crowded but you know it's good food. Overall everyone was very nice and aware of where they were walking so I had no issues. For the food, the ribs were perfectly tender but not falling off the bone, an amazing juiciness but not fatty. The brisket was cut pretty thin than most places I've had bbq but also very juicy and tender. The pulled pork wasn't wet or soaked in bbq sauce which I appreciated. It had a tender pull and chew to it but not mushy. You can taste the smokiness of all the meats, pickles were perfect with a nice crunch, and the bread was well toasted butter bread! Can't really go wrong with that. As for their Mac n cheese, it is by far the best Mac n cheese I have ever had. I'm more of a cheddar Mac person but theirs is a white Mac n cheese. Insanely decadent, being cheesy but not too cheesy that it's a brick and it is intensely creamy! The seasoning sprinkled on top makes it perfect. As for their bbq sauces I enjoyed all of them, their spiciest defintely isn't much spice for me at all but I didn't mind. It had a nice kick and that's all I really need. The pricing is insanely good as someone from the west coast, I felt the portions were perfectly appropriate. I actually brought a plate home for my boyfriend he ate it a day after I bought it, he said it was some of the best bbq he's ever had as well as the best Mac n cheese he's ever had. I would come back to this place every time I'm in Kansas City. As some locals say don't go to the other location, go to this one!

For my sides, I got Mac and cheese, cheesy corn and potato salad. Turkey sandwich was good, per le bf. It had a good smokey flavor and wasn't dry! My brisket was also quite moist with minimal fatty parts, which is what I prefer. Sausage was ok, had to really chew into it. What I'm most disappointed about is the ribs. The ribs were good, but for almost $20, I got 3 pieces. They stated for the ribs plate, you'd get about 3 or 4, depending on the weight, but it would be nice to note that down somewhere that when paying $20, expect 3 pieces. Ive gotten double that and about the same price at other bbq spots, hence my disappointed and surprised when opening the container. Mac and cheese had huge shell noodles, which was cool but on the watery side. Potato salad was decent, got the job done but a little bland. Sauces are also on the tangy side, and if you're a sweet bbq sauce gal like me, it wasn't hitting the spot. Overall was nice giving a try, but will prob be going elsewhere for my bbq needs!
