This place is always busy during the lunch and dinner hours so it must be good. We visited Jack Stack Lenexa while on vacation in Kansas City from California. I ordered the pork ribs and my daughter had the burnt ends. Everything was incredible! The burnt ends are other worldly. The service was also first class. We had six people at our table and our server did a great job! read more

Not bad, not great. Just was somewhat in the middle of everything and convenient to our three hotels. The brisket was decent but dry. The beans were pretty good. The asparagus was thick and way too greasy. Service was very good though. read more

We always go to Jacks Stacks for dinners when family is in town. This was my first time going to the Lenexa location and I was not impressed at all. The servers were great- so very kind and even told us not to tip due to the world cup percentage being added. The new restaurant was very sharp and spacious in the layout. But the only thing it had going for it was the server and the space. The food was brought out quickly but was not of good quality. My brisket was 75% all fat. It was gross. My 90yr old grandmother ordered their Crown Prime Beef rib for 38.00. It was literally all fat. The very few pieces of meat on it was very tender and soft, but she took two bites of it and could not eat anymore. My husband got the pulled pork and it was so dry. The best thing that we ate was our salmon dip appetizer. Other than that I was highly disappointed in the quality of the meat. I spent too much money just to eat nothing but fat. Very poor quality and not sure that I will be returning. read more

World Cup attendees get you 20% add to you bill automatically Ask your self this question. Since the World Cup is here. Is it worth it to automatically charge 20% gratuity to the bill? The waitress told us don't worry about the tip since it was automatically added. The service was slow as molasses. Those severs have the upper hand because they know they are getting that tip regardless whether they work hard or not. I was listening to her excuse why they add 20% on top. Total horse crap. The excuse is since other countries don't tip since the World Cup. Total horse crap !!!!! read more

Went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon while a bunch of MaryKay ladies were evidently in town. We were seated quickly and our server Joe came over and greeted us quickly and got our drink orders. Those came out quickly! About 15 mins later he came back and took our food and appetizer order and that appears to be where things fell apart. It became very obvious that he forgot to put in our food order as our party of two didn't receive any food and we sat there for 45 minutes with no apologies and no answers as to why our food wasn't arriving and people who arrived after us did receive the same appetizers did. Finally, Joe brought out our food all at the same time (no appetizer first) and that was the last time we saw him. The onion rings were ice cold and we wanted to just ask for them to be warmed up but didn't even have an opportunity. The rest of the food was good but around an hour passed with our server actively avoiding our table with the two of us trying to flag him down. We gave up and walked over to the host stand. The manager (?) walked over looked at our table after our complaints and had someone else send over our bill and a box. We will never return to this location. It was our first and last time. We will go back to OP. read more

My fave bbq spot I have found this week in KC, wings are smoked to perfection and fall off the bone 9/10. I had never had lamb ribs before but these were incredible. Also fall off the bone and the rub is sooo flavorful 10/10. Ham was solid but nothing special. Highly recommend trying the lamb ribs and wings read more

So glad I was able to come here with my family the other night. We got seated right away and our waitress took our orders. My cousin ordered a drink with Irish whiskey and the bartender came back and said they did not have Jameson whiskey. He asked if she had any Irish whiskey at all and she said no. He ordered a Diet Coke instead. He got the burnt ends and they looked amazing. I got the 2 item entree with brisket and beef ribs and fries. The food was hot when I got it and it was delicious. Those beef ribs were beefy and very tender. A little bit of their bbq sauce and they were mouth watering making you want more. The brisket was good too but kind of odd they sliced the brisket in very thin slices and piled them on top of each other. I would have much rather had a 1/4 in inch slices of brisket like people normally serve. But they were still good. I also got a side salad and it was fresh and delicious too. Too bad they don't have thousand islands salad dressing. Overall this place seemed like one of the nicer beer Jack Stacks in town. If you get a chance order those beef ribs as they were really good. I saw for $3.00 you can upgrade to a high grade of beef for the beef ribs. read more

Overall, a good experience. Service was great, even though it did take a bit for one fo our kids meals to come out. It was comped, and free dessert. The smoked queso burnt ends was amazing! The smokey flavor smell is the best thing ever, you should candle it. The only reason not 5 stars is i prefer my brisket to be thicker pieces. It was rather dry and not super juicy like a good brisket. Same for the sausage. read more

I was in Kansas City for business and thought let me try some Kansas City barbecue and I located this Jack Stack and I was not disappointed. I ordered the lamb ribs and baked beans as a side. The meat was for the most part tasty and tender. I do think a pork rib somehow got into the crate with my ribs because one of the bones wasn't as tender and didn't taste like lamb but I didn't mind because the ribs overall were good and cooked well. The sauce was tangy and good. I ordered some spicy on the side. The baked beans were smoky and there were meat in the beans. The beans sauce was delicious and sweet but not overly sweet. There were a few pickle slices in the crate with the meat. The portion was just right for me as I ate off it for two days. I recommend this location and the lamb ribs and the beans. I got my food delivered. read more

Had a holiday dinner. Celebration here recently and everyone left happy!! You have to start with their famous onion rings as a starter. I love their burnt ends and all of their sides are awesome. Beans, slaw and fries. Others got staples like ribs and brisket. My wife had salmon salad and loved it. They also make great drinks at the bar. They have an unusual twist on the Old Fashioned read more

Good food as always but wait staff seemed overly busy and under staffed. We sat down at 5:30 with a group of 5, so not their busiest time to serve. When we go out for an expensive dinner (& it is, let's be honest for bbq), I expect a few things to happen... I expect someone to check on us once our food is delivered and I expect water/drinks to be refilled. I expect to be able to find my waiter/waitress if we need something. This wasn't the case this time around. read more

The food here was amazing! If you're craving BBQ I highly recommend eating here. I had the onion ring which the batter was unlike any other batter I've tasted. It was excellent! I had the potato with burnt ends and every bite was scrumptious! The meat was cooked perfectly. The sauce tasted fantastic. Other people in our party had ribs and also commented on how perfect they were cooked. The Carrot Cake was so moist and the light drizzled frosting really made the cake and complimented the overall taste. If was the best carrot cake I've ever had! We were here passing through in our way back to CO. So if you're craving BBQ I highly recommend you eat here! read more

I use Jack Stack for catering all the time from OP or Freight House and one thing they do better than most is consistency between locations. My wife had a corporate luncheon in Lenexa last week and the sides were cold and the burnt ends were dry and inedible. She was too nice to return the plate for another. read more

I have never eaten in-house. Always have had take during family get-togethers with 10-20 people. Jack Stack is well-equipped for large takeout orders. Everything is done promptly on time to the minute you have requested it over the phone (online). If you are able, walk inside to pick up your order at the takeout window because then you will see the operation in progress -- a dozen fast-moving experts packing your meal beautifully and efficiently. It is quite a sight! The side dishes are stupendous. The meat is delectable. They will load you up with more BBQ sauce than you will ever eat. We love the brisket, burnt-ends, spicy wings, and pork ribs. BBQ in KC is an experience similar to lobsters in Maine. Be ready for a feast. I have tried others that were just a step below Jack Stack. This place is our go-to for annual family reunions. One day I promise myself to dine-in, as the restaurant (in Lenexa) is beautiful and suitable for mid-west heavy-eating BBQ fans. read more

I had a good meal with good service. I was charged 20% gratuity for the World Cup. There was no scheduled game on 7/12/26. I was not notified prior to being seated or when the bill came. My Auntie and I ate here about 1 years ago and I also had the Burnt Ends. Mine were very tasty but, unfortunately very fatty! It was a big letdown for me Bcuz we've eaten here before and never had this issue. Anyway, we're coming in Meñana and this time I'll say something if it happens again but Excellent Service and the sides are fantastic too! read more

In Lenexa for work, our hotel was right next door to Jack Stack, so we ate here a couple of nights. This place was never not busy. The service was good, the place is clean and the food was really good. Best bbq ever? Nah, but it was a solid four stars and they have an impressive menu. My favorites were the wings and the lamb ribs, not overly seasoned and just the perfect bit of chew. Be warned, if you pay via QR code at the table, you will be in their e-mail list. So, now I know what specials they are running from my home in DC. read more

The service is good here and the ambiance is nice too. What wasn't so great is the food. I had the baby back ribs and they were very dry. The burnt ends for an appetizer didn't have much flavor and the sides were awful. The corn I had was swimming in sauce and there was no flavor to it at all. Overall was not great and I would not visit again without a menu makeover. read more

One of my absolute favorite BBQ places. The cheesy potatoes are absolutely to dieeee for ! The beans are delicious and the coleslaw is a nice light refreshing element. Outstanding barbecue with service that matches. The ambiance is rich as the flavor of the Mac and cheese. The sides are almost as good as the burnt ends. Okay, what can I say about Jack Stack. I've eaten at most of the bar-b-que places in the Greater Kansas City area. All the Big names and a few of the smaller establishments, plus numerous restaurants across the country including Virginia, South Carolina, Tennesse, Texas and even California. In my opinion, while there is good bar-b-que out there, it's hard to beat KC. Having said that Jack Stack, for the price, doesn't quite "stack" up against some of the others. The restaurant is a little more upscale than some, fitting into the casual dining category. The staff were fast and friendly. Our food arrived within minutes, which is a plus. However, the chicken was dry as was the pulled pork. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The potato salad was not to my liking, but that is due to personal taste. I found the cheesy corn intriguing and the backed beans were spot on. The cole slaw was also below my bar for good slaw. I haven't been to a Jack Stack in years, but I seem to remember their onion rings, while just as big and juicy as before, used to have a different batter. These rings had a cornmeal batter. While good, I miss the original. Still Jack Stack is not one to pass up. I'm sure the dry meats were the exception, not the rule. read more

This location has always been great every time we go here. The food is amazing. They keep it clean. The service is great. Want to get a half order of two different sides? You can do that as well. In town to visit family and after a long drive,we decided to stop in for dinner. After a 20 minute wait, the staff was really attentive, took our orders right away, and allowed us to enjoy our meals without constant disruptions. The food was great, although my brisket was cold. It was still tasty. The BBQ sauce was a runaway favorite for all of us. The unexpected star was the broccoli with garlic butter. Absolutely delicious! Lamb ribs were good,as well as the burnt ends. My husband thought the turkey was ok. The ambiance was really nice and even though it was busy it wasn't too loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. This is another spot worth repeating next time we're in town. read more

Excellent location with ample parking and the high quality bbq that Jack Stack is famous for. Most KC BBQ places make excellent smoked meats so when I'm trying to decide where to eat I usually pick based on the experience I want to have. Jack Stack gives you that upscale sit-down restaurant experience with an energetic wait staff that check in frequently, but not too frequently. For this meal I was meeting my 16 year old and wanted a longer dinner experience (because these teenagers are itching to leave as soon as the meals over lol). So I slow rolled the drink orders, appetizers, and main course order. We got a half stack of onion rings and one of the combo platters for two ($40) it had brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey and three HEAVENLY sides. Jack Stack's cheesy corn, pit beans, and coleslaw are the holy triumvirate of sides in my opinion. Overall, we enjoyed an excellent meal and conversation, with a relatively inexpensive bill and plenty of leftovers for later. read more

First time dining in a Jack stack, we've had it catered for parties many times. I opted for the smoked chicken Cobb salad and a side of fries. Long live the king. And Jack Stack is the king of Kansas City BBQ. So why only 4 stars for this location? Well, while the food was 5 stars (and it almost always is), the parking lot is somewhat limited, it was a bit of a cluster even reserving a table in advance, and it felt like the wait staff was a bit off their game (initial server took a while to get to us, then we switched servers?, and a different one yet ended up bringing our tab? Just odd for a Jack Stack). This location also seems a smidge more cramped than the others I've been too. And the lighting/decor choices here...uhh...leave a bit to be desired. All that said, the crown prime beef rib is still undefeated. The cheesy potato bake is one of the best side dishes in existence. And the jalapeno cornbread is an elite appetizer. All were absolutely perfect. Food: 5/5 stars. Parking/getting a table/wait staff/decor: 3.5 stars. read more

So I was in Kansas City for some family business & it was my birthday, so we drove out to Lenexa. Establishment seemed sanitary & staff was very pleasant. I had a choice between fish and chicken as I don't do red meat. Got half bbq chicken which was very mediocre, fully loaded potato less the bacon tasted fresh & healthy, not good or bad. Got appetizers which were jalapeño cornbread which was just ok but the fried mushroom were spectacular, my wife said the pork chops were good. I ordered a family fashion drink which was b low mediocre. I would go back for the mushrooms but everything else was mediocre. If you are in the area, it's ok but nothing to rave about except the fried mushrooms. read more

Since I only eat seafood, I was nervous about going to a bbq spot in Kansas. But this place actually had several seafood options! And they were super accommodating when I asked for certain things to be removed since I don't eat dairy or egg. Excellent! The onion rings were great with the bbq sauce. My salmon sandwich was delicious and the fries were fresh and hot. I sent my salmon back to have it cooked more and they just remade my whole plate!
