Of all the Zara stores I've visited, this location by far is the most pleasurable one every time. Even dropping in on a whim I always find something I really like for myself, family or friends. Well stocked with more conservative selections for men. Clean and helpful sales associates as well. Some items are maybe pricey if bought at full price, especially new arrivals. If you've got a few minutes to spare, hit the "last buy item" rack and you'll likely find an item or two you may like to add to your ever growing collections. Great buys! Worst customer service ever. Their managers are terrible and so unhelpful too. I was TWO days late on my return and they would not even help me get my $ back. I am pregnant, getting married this weekend- running around like a crazy person trying to get things done. I bought the jacket here couple of weeks ago and fitting room was close for no reason so I took it home to try it on and it didn't fit me , today I took it back and this stupid guy Martin told me I can't return it because it doesn't have the inside tag and was telling me that I had to check at the time of purchase to make sure the inside tags is attached. How that could be my responsibility as a customer to check that inside tag when the cashier did scan the regular tag. Worst f*cking place to buy clothing. Worst managers. Worst policy for returns on DAMAGED CLOTHING. I spent $70 on a pair of pants for new years eve. I wore them 3 hours before they tore open. Upon returning them I was told they would not take them back because they were damaged. Well duh! That's the point, they're poorly manufactured and it's not my fault the pants tore open. I was even willing to settle for store credit, but they wouldn't even give that. The managers are dismissive and don't really care. RUDE MANAGER. Ridiculous return policy. I ordered something online and went into the store to return. I was given a piece of paper that said minus one. Nothing with the refund price nothing with real information. I was told I would be sent an email in a few days. Um ok, so I have to worry if the return was processed with no real proof? They have the manger come out who should not be working with the public. She refused to provide a receipt. She starts arguing with me about the policy and it's always been the same. I explain that I returned something to another Zara store and was issued a normal refund and had to put my card in the machine to make sure it was processed. She is arguing with me this didn't happen and I just have to wait for the email in hopes no errors happened. Not sure what was more of a nightmare having to do double work and make sure this refund gets processed or dealing with this extremely rude manager. Clearly I won't be buying anything online and more than likely not shopping at this location. She ended up just walking away not even making sure my questions were answered. Store "Manager" Martin is awful and a joke. He was dismissive, rude and unprofessional. I purchased a shirt to wear, took the tags off, etc. and noticed it had a snag on it so I went to return it (was fine with store credit) but he didn't even let me finish explaining myself. The absolute worst customer service experience I have had in my life. I had an employee and her manager gang up on me. It was awful and can't believe they let people like this work here. The employee cut me off and eye rolled me when I called her out on it and continued to argue with me. As a resident of TO, I love visiting the Oaks mall, and the one store I spend time in is Zara. Love their style and price point. My husband loves it, too, especially their stuff goes on sale! The good about this location: they will almost always have anything you want in any size because the people of Thousand Oaks are still learning what Zara is. Now for the bad and the ugly: I bought a suit jacket and matching pants totaling around $200, plus a pair of jeans. While I'm checking out, the sales clerk informs me that they are out of garment bags. I don't understand how this happens seeing as how they had every style of suit and every size of every style hanging on their racks. How can you have suits and not have garment bags? He then proceeds to wrap a plastic garbage bag around my suit, breaking a hanger in the process, and leaving the broken hanger wrapped up in the plastic ball while adding an extra hanger to the mix. And for whatever reason, he decided to bring my jeans into the mess instead of folding them and putting them into a Zara paper bag. So for spending over $250 I left the store holding a plastic bag ball with a broken hanger sticking out. Who trained these kids?! read more

I purchased a pair of Jeans for my daughter. I washed them prior to wearing and the waist band detached. Within the week I tried to return the item to the store they refused to accept it. I was given the company's contact info. and I contacted immediately. I was told I needed to get the return "approved". I sent documention and it was approved I was assigned a case ID. I made 2 appts to return the item to this store. Both apps were lost by the company. I went back to the store and they said they would not help because no appointment. 2/14/20: I went to get clothes for my 11 month old baby just a few moments ago. I buy from Zara online all the time, so I am familiar with what they have and their sizes. I take my time when I am shopping so I was there maybe for 30 minutes looking around and picked around 5 pieces. I get to the cashier and I realized I left my credit card in my car. I told the girl and I asked her to please hold the pieces for one hour, that I would go to my car and come right back. She said she couldn't do it. She ask another guy and he made this face like everything stinks and said no. I was so mad because 1. This is a fast fashion store, why wouldn't they hold it for one hour? 2. I have plantar fasciitis so I my foot was hurting so bad I didn't want to have to walk around the store again to get what I had already picked and 3. The store was empty. BEWARE OF ZARA'S RETURN POLICY! It is the WORSE. I bought my husband 3 shirts for Christmas. He didn't even have to try them on to see they would never fit him. I returned them less than 2 weeks later to the same store with the plastic wrapping still in the collar of all 3 shirts. Over the holiday I lost the paper receipt I was given. The manager of the store told me that even though Zara does NOT have the capability of emailing you an electronic receipt, like most stores do, I was still responsible for holding onto a piece of paper for 2 weeks over the holiday and there is literally NOTHING they will do for you without it. They WONT EXCHANGE IT They WONT GIVE YOU STORE CREDIT Nothing! I called the #800 and their customer service representative was beyond rude to me. She basically said I have no recourse, I need to just go home with the 3 shirts I just bought that don't fit my husband. And so I did. In 2020 this feels like a complete set up. August 11, 2019 around 5:30pm -- TL;DR -- cashier "Alyssa" yells at my precious 5-year-old daughter for accidentally causing the retractable belt stanchion (zippy-belt pole that creates the physical line before a cashier) to retract -- 1) it was an accident, 2) it's not like she was causing a ruckus, and 3) pick on someone your own size! My wife and daughter were shopping in this store that day. It was a slow Monday, slower than most. Store empty. They found what they were looking for and made their way to the line. "Alyssa" was helping one customer ahead of them. She was a slow cashier, slower than most. My wife and daughter had to wait, disproportionately longer than expected given the lack of customers in the store. I'm not just saying this because I'm the father but my 5-year-old daughter is extremely well-behaved and patient. She is also very bright. From what it sounds like she was quiet and not distracting at all. Not your typical whiny toddler hooked to an electronic babysitter whining because instant gratification was robbed due to a poor Wi-Fi connection. No ma'am. My little girl will stand there and wait patiently because her parents are AWESOME and actually try to raise their children right. We also foster learning and discovery and try to incorporate that on the daily. Just so happens on this day that my daughter developed an interest on how the retractable belt of a stanchion is able to keep its tension and thus stay as straight as they are for being such a flexible material. Turns out she accidentally loosened the tail end from its retainer and ZIP! the belt retracted. An accident. ACCIDENT. First offense. A consequence of engineering curiosity. Cashier "Alyssa" didn't seem to think so. (I keep using quotation marks because my wife was so upset that she may not have heard the name correctly when she asked her for it.) Cashier "Alyssa" then proceeded to give my sweet, curious child a very obvious, audible scolding. My poor daughter apparently looked at my wife like she was in trouble. That sad, inverted smile with the lip quiver and all. Just thinking about my daughter making that face makes me die a little on the inside. Seriously?! A little extreme for a minor thing, no? "Alyssa," you must not have children of your own because if you did you would have understood that not all children are bratty little shits that annoy you but are also very capable of exploring and learning new things. I wish I could have been there because after my wife made it apparent that she disagreed with your verbal scolding of OUR daughter, not only would I have also made my opinions known but I would have also taken the time to show her how that particular stanchion works so that 1) she understand how the tension in the system keeps the belt taught and 2) that inadvertent deactivation of the system causes childless Generation Z-ers to be disproportionately annoyed. It was a slow business day, wasn't it? That should have been entertaining for you! I can think of ten alternate ways to have handled that situation more appropriately than you did. Perhaps you could have kindly showed her yourself how the stanchion works so that you could quench her thirst for knowledge. But nope. Instead you acted how you did and not only did you scare my child but you upset my wife, and when my wife is upset then I get really upset. And then I have to stay up late composing a Yelp review because sending a complaint through corporate is usually futile. That seems to be how it's done these days anyway. Why go through the proper channels and up the chain of command when you can just go on Yelp instead, where the information I share becomes public? "Alyssa," please take this as an opportunity of learning and growth. Behavior such as yours tends to drive loyal shoppers such as us away from where we like to give our business. Our business pays your wages. Without our business you might not have your wages. Please think of the bigger picture here. Customer service is GOLD these days. Who really cares about the product, or its quality ... it's all about the experience. We used to shop here pretty frequently but after this particular experience I'm afraid we will have to take our business elsewhere. I was in there for 10 minutes and he made every guest seem stupid and uncomfortable. He said to me "Sorry this rack I'm working on it's basically the same as others." Told a man that the material of a pants was the only one left and to check another store. Told a woman pay in woman's and children's and yelled it across the room so everyone can hear. While I was trying to resolve an issue about a defective garment I received online another man was complaining about a sensor that hadn't been removed from his item while the girls behind the register rolled their eyes- a cue undoubtedly from the "MANAGER". Now that all things have begun opening after Covid, Zara for months has held onto the zero dressing room nonsense, leaving customers to try on clothes "at other shops" next to them, which logically have fitting room. Body shaming central! Purchased a dress with out trying it on. Noticed it was torn, brought it back for a return within the time window. Might have been a week or two later but it was the first free time I had to bring it back. When I brought it back I told the employee durning the return that the item was torn. He looked me up and down and said " are you sure you didn't tear this dress". Outwardly loud so everyone could hear him blame me and basically call me a liar. To make matters worse the manager came out and said the exact words to me over again ( are you sure you didn't tear this!?). The body language of the two and the attitude was just all to much for me to handle. I've never felt so judged in my life. What a complete Embarrassment. I can't believe I've spent so much money at this store to turn around and be treated like such trash. Also there is no use in asking for a manager because they all claim they are all mangers, they don't give out names. So basically no one to ever hold accountable. I found a shirt that I liked that was damaged and they had another one in the store that was the same size. However, when I asked the staff to help me find it they were not helpful at all. At least three people dodged me so they wouldn't have to help find it. And when I did ask someone they would say "sorry if it's not out there we probably don't have it" even though their system said they did. They also wont sell damaged items. The only person that tried looking was a lady at the register but she had to get back when people stood in line. This is another review about their return policy. I had the receipt but I didn't have the EXACT card I used for the purchase so they told me they only offer store credit. I actually had a card from the same CC account but it was a business account so different names have different numbers. Basically if you lose your card, have fraud on it or if you don't carry all your cards on you at all times, Zara is happy to keep your money and give you Store credit, essentially saying your purchase was final. I'm unsure about what the liability is here. Someone would have to steal the item and my receipt and then they're worried the money will be refunded to the wrong person? In this incredibly unlikely scenario I'd imagine the customer isn't going back to Zara to say "Someone stole my pants and I demand a refund." This is a red flag that someone is creating policies without the customer in mind. It may seem unfair that I'm leaving this review for the TO store but that's where I went and that's where the manager had to opportunity to override the policy but chose instead to just read me a script answer. Treat customers well and they'll shop often and buy more. Treat them with absurd mistrust and enforce poorly thought out policies and you will soon become another empty storefront. read more
