First, I was asked to wait for more than 30 minutes, and the attitude of one of the older employees who was assisting--or overseeing--the process was very unpleasant. While I was being measured by a younger employee who was helping me, this individual repeatedly interjected himself in an unprofessional manner and made comments to the employee. His behavior made an already frustrating experience even more uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the experience became even more disappointing when I returned on the date I was told my suit would be ready, only to find out that it was not. What made matters worse was being made to feel as though I was mistaken about the promised date. This was particularly frustrating because the mistake was not on my part, yet there was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused. For a company of this size and reputation, I would expect much more respect and appreciation for its customers. Mistakes can happen, but how a company handles those mistakes says a great deal about its commitment to its clientele. This experience was unpleasant from beginning to end, and I left feeling completely disregarded as a customer. It will certainly take a great deal for me to consider returning to this location, and at this point, I may never set foot there again. I sincerely hope management takes this complaint seriously, looks into what happened, and addresses the customer service issues at this location. Customers deserve to be treated with professionalism, courtesy, and respect--especially when the inconvenience is caused by the business itself. Allen

There are lots of great gifts in all price ranges. And they seem to feature local products or personalized to the area - e.g. towels embroidered with "Pleasanton" on them. And all are very tastefully done with high quality. I bought my own Father's Day gift - the perfect stainless steel travel thermos mug. I have a bunch of travel mugs (over 2 dozen stored in a box in the garage) but this one really is perfect! It has a two-piece screw on lid so the mouth is extra wide for all sizes of ice cubes. The whole thing is very attractive. It can be drunk from any place of the mouthpiece and the part that touches your lips is plastic so it won't burn your tender/sensitive lips regardless of the temperature of the liquid inside. They come in various colors and the paint is slightly textured to make the body of the mug slip resistant. It comes in two sizes. I got the larger one (500 ml). If you want one, go to Amazon and search for Kinto 20942 Travel Tumbler, 16.9 fl oz (500 ml). Anyway, that's just one thing that caught my eye! There's lots more stuff that would work for a gift for friends or family members! Jim

Dress shoes and more formal wear is what they are known for - but they do have some shoes and boots that look a bit more casual. I had the most comfortable shoes from this brand due to the super soft leather they were made from. Super soft and flexible. I don't like it when tough leather creases and stabs your foot or toe with every step. I picked up some belts as gifts - will be back to look for myself more one day soon. If you need to be in formal attire every day its so important to get shoes from here and maybe a ton of iron free shirts from Brooks Brothers - also nearby. I'm not familiar with this brand, but decided to check the store out on a whim. Love their overall selection available, and wound up finding a pair that I liked, fit well, and was decently priced. As it was early on in our day, and we wanted to check out a few more stores first, the gentleman who assisted us kindly offered to put it on hold while we shopped around. In addition, he inquired about what else we were shopping for, and made some recommendations on some other stores that we could take a look at as well. After an exhausting day looking through the major brands, we found a few accessories that I wanted, but could not find another pair of shoes that I liked. When we returned to Johnston & Murphy, the same salesperson that was working from earlier was still there, and he both remembered me and the pair of shoes he put on hold for me, as well brought out some belts that I could try on. Having remembered our conversation earlier in the day when I mentioned I was also shopping for a new belt. When checking out, my fiancé noticed a very slight blemish on one of the shoes, and the salesperson very kindly buffed and polished both shoes for us without hesitation. And upon leaving, my fiancé noticed an elderly couple in the store in which the husband was wearing a cap from the same hotel we are getting married in at Hawaii. What a small world! Great experience, great service, and excellent quality and selection of men and women's formal footwear. Highly recommend this store, and will not hesitate to come shop here again!
