Second, the restaurant is decorated with lots of kitsch decorated with Polish folk art, and even the service staff was dressed in "traditional" clothes. Third, the huge menu was full of fantastical, colorful photos that were obviously exaggerated depictions of the actual dishes. I started with an order of the zurek, a sour white rye soup served with a grilled sausage, half a hard-boiled egg topped with horseradish, and slices of a seeded Polish bread, all arranged on a wooden board. But my favorite dish was the bigos, a traditional Polish stew made with sauerkraut cooked with sausage, pork ribs, forest mushroom, dried plums, and red wine. As a whole, the dish was nicely balanced in flavor with the savoriness of the meat and mushrooms, the sourness of the sauerkraut, and the slight sweetness of the dried plums. While the actual plates of food didn't look as picture-perfect as the photos, and the whole restaurant felt a bit artificial, the food and dining experience were great nonetheless!

She set up the metal stand for the dumplings, but they never arrived! Only two out of the three entrees arrived so the 3rd dish- the pig's knuckles didn't arrive either. I just shared my food with my wife and she was ok with that. We called the waitress over and told her we didn't receive the dumpling and the 3rd entree. She did not apologize for this nor express any sympathy about those missing items. I called the manager over to tell her the same issue, but surprisingly, she didn't offer an apology or any corrective measures herself. She didn't even bother to check up on this, so I flatly told her that we are canceling those two dishes and not to bring them as we are leaving now. The waitress ran downstairs to tell the chef to stop the orders, but I didn't care at that point anymore whether they were actually ready or not. When we paid our bill, again, the waitress didn't even say Thank You or anything else. It seems that neither one seemed to care about what had happened. I know it was busy that night and things like this happens. However that's why people like me leave honest reviews for others to read before they go to any restaurant. The welcoming was kind of jaded, but we were hungry and had patience with the zombie-like service. All of us tried some of the different pierogi (dumplings) they offered: traditional with cabbage and mushrooms, russian style and spinach with cheese. They were all OK and my favorite were the spinach ones. To that we had beer and that was where things started to go wrong. If the food was "traditionally" Polish, so was the service, which could best be described as the one I remember from the worst restaurants during the communist time. This means a minimum of service from an uninterested person that take time. Really strange, as the waitress who served us was probably not even born at the time when that kind of service was kind of common in the eastern countries. One of my friends discovered the opened plastic cover of a toothpick in his beer, and we let the waitress know as soon as we managed to get her attention. Without a flinch, she mumbled something about crediting the beer and just left, taking his beer with her. When we saw her again, we were still a little uncertain about her first comment so we asked, with the intention of ordering a new beer for my friend - but we never got that far. She just repeated that the beer would be credited and left before we had the chance to ask for another beer. As the food was OK, I hope the mishap with the beer and service was just a bad day for the wautress, but having talked to my non-Polish guests about the Polish cuisine and hospitality, Dawne Smaki just left me with a feeling of embarrassment in front of them. So the expectations were high but we were not disappointed. The restaurant is located in a quite historic place. It was the Russian embassy during the downer times and you can find some really interesting symbols on Columns, corner and decoration. The young team did their best and the chef waitress kept her young colleagues quite busy to ensure the best for the guests. A perfect cut and tender goat meat with the typical ingredients like fresh egg but pretend in a perfect way. Onion chips and thin slices of Apple gave it a sour finish and a certain crunch. As main dish we had a classic veal dish with spinach and mashed potatoes... Sounds simple, but the fast was amazing. Especially the veal glacé was eye opening The other dish was perfect medium lamp chops with glacé, chanterelle purée and ravioli filled with ricotta and truffle. The best ravioli I had for a long time. But the highlight of the dinner was the dessert. On the one side we had a praline tarte which was quite heavy and really intense. Ideal for chocolate lovers. The corresponding strawberry sorbet was less sweet and compensated the chocoholic taste with intense fruit aroma and acidity. Well Composed.
